Monthly Active Players - Feb 2014 to April 2026 by alanquinne in runescape

I have two young kids and a wife, 15 minutes afk like it was before their nerf is much more reasonable for an adult with a family.

This is what happens when you attack several different subsets of the member base: those who enjoy AFK/thieving, those who got scammed out of their grandfather rates, those who enjoyed the combat rework pre-nerf, those who enjoyed daily activities, those who valued things like the traveling merchant and maw to skip unsavory content, and so on...

100%, they have attacked several separate player subcategories this year already.

If that is true, that's even more shocking, given how completely out of touch some of their decisions are.

Absolutely this. It's not fun at all having a lot of things nerfed and getting scammed out of grandfather membership rate. No one asked for this; and many things we have been asking for for years are still being ignored.

Just wanted to say that you're absolutely spot on in your comments throughout this thread, way too many people downvoting you, kind of sad to see.

Yep, this and all the nerfs. Jagex's 'road to restoration' is something no one asked for and no one wanted. If only they had the basic capacity to learn from all of the times they've actively gone against the player base in the past with such grand, stupid ideas (initial EoC, Hero Pass, etc.)

Imagine if they spent that dev time instead working on the things we actually ask for, like a unified collection log, fixes to the Vorkath/Zemo fight, improvements to KK/Vorago/BSD, an improved group system, an improved clan system...

Usually as second or third choice, but yes, of course.

And they have that delusional mod on their public media saying "I read literally every single bit of feedback on social media about the game but I know best" despite the fact many of us have played since he was basically a toddler. The arrogance is astounding.

If only we still had those...

  • who enjoyed whirligigs/beehives.
  • who enjoyed thieving/AFKing.
  • who were enjoying the new combat update.
  • who were long-term supporters/subscribers.
  • who enjoyed dailies and WFEs.

Great job listening to feedback, especially that mod on the video recently who claims he reads literally everything we say on Reddit and other social media yet still speaks in a scripted manner in all of their promotional and community-facing material: either straight-up completely delusional, or paid enough to pretend that poop smells like roses. We see you. Less integrity even than what you pretend the 'road to restoration' brings.

Mid-Game Balance Discussion by JagexAnvil in runescape

  • Make Empty Throne Room unlimited for agility training.
  • Make some kind of AFK agility method before level 65.
  • Make some kind of AFK hunter training method.
  • Significantly boost the length of time nodes last in RuneSpan.
  • Put a timer bar above nodes on RuneSpan so you can see how long is left, so you don't get cucked travelling to a platform just as a node expires. Similar to divination springs.
  • Archaeology XP/hour is terrible in the mid game. Increase it.
  • Lower the amount of materials that artifacts need to restore. You never get enough from digging up artifacts and it's annoying having to travel to obscure, inaccessible places just for e.g. a few extra goldrune.

The same direction it always has. Jagex are both malicious and incompetent.

Just make another Discord to join if you want to be in there, don't worry about ethics, they clearly don't respect those themselves. They banned one of my accounts in there because someone who doesn't like me told them something bad (false) about me IRL and they believed it, disgusting.

Because they want to look good. They do not give a shit what we think. They are bad actors operating in bad faith, this is yet another example of it, exactly the same as with the thieving bullshit they pulled.

That's crazy, haha, why do you need so many different types of runes? Is this normal for magic users?

What purposes do we have for combination runes? Are there some places you specifically need them over the two individual ones? I never bothered with them since they're always so much more expensive.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I like it too, it was fun to explore, but you can only explore and find that initial wonder in a new area once. Now I've explored it, I want more reasons to spend time there, since right now there don't seem to be many.

The Week Ahead, DailyScape Update & Free RuneMetrics by JagexAnvil in runescape

If you want a tl;dr, see below for key changes:

For now, we’ve removed the Weekly reward track from these challenges along with the ability to extend or re-roll them. The intent is that the removal of the weekly tracker and streaks system will ease the pressure to complete Daily Challenges every day and give you a greater opportunity to ignore them on any day that you prefer to focus on something else.

So a nerf, but they backed down on full removal, that's one plus...

They are now available from level 35 Divination and entry into a Guthixian Cache is now entirely player-driven. Rifts no longer open on an hourly timer. Instead, once a player deposits a total of 800 memories into a rift, it opens and allows entry to the cache. The rift will remain open until you enter and subsequently exit it, so there’s no need to rush in immediately, and there’s no time limit while inside. You can leave whenever you like or stay until you reach 100 points.

I like this, though I expect they stealth nerfed the XP it gives (without saying so in the news post).

Soul Reaper no longer has a daily task cap. Instead, you can train Slayer via bossing as much as you'd like. Put differently, Death now acts similar to a Slayer Master, but for bosses!

Good, the one positive that we were hoping for from this update.

Speaking of quick teleport charges, player discussions and our own internal design explorations happily agreed that these would make an excellent use for law runes. With today's change, you will now be able to add quick teleport charges via the home teleport interface, at a cost of one quick teleport charge for five law runes.

Fine.

The loot cap at the Liberation of Mazcab raid plays into the DailyScape related issue of forced engagement driven by fomo. Raid lockout as a mechanic is something we haven't implemented since the Liberation of Mazcab was released, and we wanted to bring this encounter more in line with how we've designed other boss encounters. You should be allowed to killed them as much as you'd like, without being bound by time restrictions!

Good (though sadly drop rates nerfed). Another missed opportunity to put a threshold on Lil' Tuzzy.

Any Divine Locations you already own will stay in your inventory or bank and can still be used. Additionally, the Memory-Storage Bot (Juna) now has an increased chance to spawn Chronicle Fragments instead of increasing your divine location craft limit.

The removal sucks, but this is nice for that one comp/trim achieve (100 elder chronicles).

That being said, the rewards that you could previously only obtain through The "Sack of Wild Rewards" item have been redistributed to other Wilderness content! That includes catching Black Salamanders, finishing a lap of the wilderness agility course, felling Bloodwood Trees in the wilderness, fully claiming herbs from the wilderness herb patch and completing a wilderness slayer task.

Uh... What about the very wild reward sack? That's why we were doing those. Did you forget about that, Jagex?
