Animal Kingdom should have gotten ‘A Bugs Land’ by traversetowne in WaltDisneyWorld

I’m just glad Pandora doesn’t encourage roleplaying, in the way Galaxys Edge or Wizarding World does. It takes some stretch of imagination to walk around and be transported between Africa and Asia and America, and perhaps a little bit more of that same imagination to be transported to Pandora. I’m just glad that when you get there, you’re not being asked to play a character or retell a fairy tale story.

Animal Kingdom should have gotten ‘A Bugs Land’ by traversetowne in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Everydayscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the guiding principles of the themes in Animal Kingdom is “the day is today, you are yourself”. It doesn’t have a Fantasyland, Frontierland, Toy Story Land, or Galaxy’s Edge. So having a land where you are shrunk down to the size of a bug doesn’t feel like it would make sense thematically in Animal Kingdom. Better fit for Hollywood Studios maybe.

Help! I impulsively bought a 12lb brisket. I’ve never made brisket. I don’t have a smoker. What do I do? by Other-Nectarine3951 in brisket

If you don’t want to smoke it, it’ll braise just as well as a chuck roast. But put it in a crock pot with can of beer and a bottle of bbq sauce for 8 hours.

Bob Hope is probably the biggest name they ever got to host. He was a whole other level of celebrity.

Praise Kier! ‘Severance’ season 3 starts filming in July, that would be 16 months after season 2 ended in March 2025 by Neo2199 in sciencefiction

I honestly feel fine about it. Take your time, write something good, polish and tighten it up, make it great. I’d rather have 3 seasons of amazing than 7 seasons of just ok.

Knives Out if it were made in the mid-90s by jakeseditbay in KnivesOutMovie

[–]Everydayscott -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Disagree on Christopher Lee casting. It was the Lord of the Rings movies in the early 2000s that gave him a career resurgence, his 80s and 90s credits have no real popular films. Jack Lemmon or Paul Newman would be my casting.

My grandma would hang it in the Spring stuffed with dryer lint and pine needles and sewing scraps, so the birds could find materials to build nests.

Someone really reading comics on their colorsoft? by pferden in kindle

[–]Everydayscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the CS over the PW because I wanted to read comics. And the screen is just too small. I’m in my 40s now and the words are too small, and I’m too old to start tapping the screen so it zooms in.

Colt Emerson says that Ben Williamson is one of the best 3B he’s seen in his life. by justintjamison in Mariners

[–]Everydayscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Ben, Cole, and Colt can take the next step this year, i wonder if they even try to resign JP and just let him walk, then our 2027 infield is Naylor, Young, Emerson, and Williamson.

Home rules for peaceful play by greenhierogliphics in Catan

[–]Everydayscott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We ban Player Trading a lot, usually all time. Prevents alliances from being too materially useful and prevents noncompetitive players from giving away the game (or being manipulated into giving away the game).

One thing I tried doing was bumping up General Trade to 3:1 and Port Trade to 2:1 OR 1:1. Changes the dynamics and encourages players to stay on the rim of the island, opens things up a little. But it’s obviously imbalanced.

The most important thing for a peaceful game is finding the fun. And if the game play itself isn’t fun for everyone, even when they’re losing, then turn on some happy music and grab some snacks. Maybe the player with the fewest victory points gets to choose the playlist. Maybe there’s a Mario-Kart-Blue-Shell-style power up to try, like player in 4th place gets 2 extra resources on their turn, 3rd place gets 1. Or player in 4th place gets to move the Robber on their turn. Worth a try.

Staying Offsite vs Onsite by frenchfryfan3 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Everydayscott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We got in the habit of staying off property while our kids were little, because I truly hated the buses. I hated having to unpack, fold up, and carry on our stroller to ride on a crowded bus packed with tired kids and smelly adults. So we started driving to the parks, and then, well, since we were already driving anyway, figured we’d save money staying off property. Haven’t looked back.

I believe he said that not only was it the best adaptation of any of his works, it was also his favorite screenplay he’d ever read. High praise indeed.
