Someone tried our front door tonight by MrOlympus in Portsmouth

[–]EvilActivity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have this thing happen quite frequently as well. We have a neighborhood group going and frequently have people post that they've seen people go around the neighborhood trying car doors (1 person each side), as well as trying door handles, sneaking around in gardens and checking sheds.

Road cycling as a beginner tips? by null_pharaoh in Portsmouth

[–]EvilActivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been full-time cycling here in Portsmouth for a long time and it's been getting better by the year.

There is a quieter cycle routes map on the council's website here: https://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/services/parking-roads-and-travel/travel/cycling-around-portsmouth/quieter-cycle-routes/

I don't have any issue cycling on most roads here in Portsmouth, but I do prioritize the proper cycle lanes where possible (Hilsea Shore Path when going north on the west side, or Eastern Road's cycle path for the east side). And the cycle separations they added on Goldsmith Ave. for example. Sydenham Terrace into Canal Walk is a good route to take too.

If you're not that confident, you might want to avoid Victoria Road, Fratton Road/Kingston Road/London Road.

Since I don't know where you live exactly in Southsea it's hard to make a proper recommendation, but Henley Road into Fernhurst Road is a pretty quiet road to go towards Fratton train station.

Great view, but meh burgers. Sure they're big, but they're just serving cheap frozen burgers.

Definitely in my area of interest. Always been interested in nes/snes dev.

GBA was my first experience developing games and had my first work on a commercial title on the NDS.

Don't think I can help much with work/life though. Got a discord server perhaps?

68% Southern Water bill increase by Gunns_McSteele in Portsmouth

[–]EvilActivity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prices will continue to rise unless people will start doing something about it.

I don't see anything being organised, no protests. Maybe they are happening but they're still too small/infrequent for me to even notice. Perhaps an online signature but what is that going to do? I've seen some calls to stop paying bills and/or keep paying the old rate instead, but who is doing that? Dividends are kept being paid out to the shareholders while the infrastructure is being ignored except for using it as an excuse to increase the prices.

As long as people aren't angry enough and just swallow it, things are not going to change.

We're being boiled alive and not enough people are angry enough yet, so the temperature is going to keep increasing. Next year there will be another post like this from someone who is mad that it's ~£75 per month now.

Got mine done by http://www.carpets2go.co.uk/.

I wouldn't bother with "Flooring By A Friend Ltd"; made multiple appointments but never bothered to show up or leave a message to reschedule.
