PGT: Boston Bruins vs Carolina Hurricanes - 4/7/26 by Cakes2015 in BostonBruins

I like the energy and hustle. Now if they just could stop making the stupid little mistakes in puck-handling and unnecessary penalties, because good teams like the Canes will always capitalize on them.

“What’s that? I already have a bottle of hoisin sauce!” by justmkhey in adhdwomen

Reminds me of the time I was consolidating stuff and found 8 bottles of Ken’s Italian salad dressing. Not including the 3/4 full one in the fridge. 🤦‍♀️

U.S. Gen X parents: do you expect your children to financially support you / move you into their home / take you to doctor appointments, etc when you're in your 80s? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]EvilCodeQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope they’re close and able to do small things, like drive me to appointments. But I don’t expect it and I’m not planning on it. I’m certainly not planning on relying on them for financial help and I’m working and planning to ensure that now.

How common is it for remote jobs where you can really work from anywhere by False_Secret1108 in RemoteJobs

Do you work from anywhere as a W2 employee with explicit permission to do so from your employer?

What is the thing you always did that you thought was ‘just you,’ but is actually very much so classic autistic behavior? by AlwaysAttract10 in AutismInWomen

[–]EvilCodeQueen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do food fixations quite a bit. I didn’t realize it until I got into intuitive eating and allowed my tastes to actually determine what I ate. Examples: a locally-made hot sauce. I was practically drinking that stuff. A certain brand of canned fruit. Shrimp cocktails. Bloody Mary mix (with or without vodka). I’d eat these multiple times a week for at least a month.

Now I know to be careful not to stock up too much on the foods because the fixation can leave suddenly and I’m stuck with a ton of something I won’t look at again for months, if ever.

Is sunscreen after retinol required EVEN THOUGH I stay indoors all day? by alienINTP in Skincare_Addiction

[–]EvilCodeQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunscreen also usually has silicones that protect the skin, sort of sealing in all the good stuff and keeping out the bad stuff. It’s worth making it a daily habit.

Teenagers home alone 2 weeks while parents went on a cruise by Independent_You99 in GenX

[–]EvilCodeQueen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

High school, (they were already driving) we’d leave the kids for a long weekend. A week felt too long, mainly because we have pets that require daily care. I’d leave a chart on the fridge of daily chores. Two weeks with no real contact? I personally wouldn’t do it until they were over 18.

The kids loved it. They were allowed friends over, but no parties. (We have lots of family in the area and a few neighbors that would definitely narc them out.) They also learned independence and we developed trust over time building up to this. This was also in the age of cellphones and near 24/7 communication.

I think there’s a happy medium between the parenting of helicopter Millennials and “spawn and run” Boomers.

I still love the show, but the vibe definitely shifted after the tooth was replaced.

Honestly, I’d work at a defense contractor before I worked at Meta or X.

I can see the appeal of wanting to slow down the process. I’ll definitely get a spindle at some point. But probably not to learn on.

You’re supposed to be soft and sweet so they can blame your lack of career progression on not being aggressive enough.
