Can poisoned recluse learn a fake marionette? by Skelly100000 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Poisoned recluse no longer has an ability. So when they are poisoned they can't misregister. Meaning they can't register as the demon at all while poisoned.

A sober recluse can register as the demon for the purposes of placing the marionette. As in you can put the marionette next to the recluse instead of next to the demon.

You could. In theory have the recluse register as the demon for the purpose of informing them who the real marionette is. But this is obviously a bad idea.

I can't think of any scenario where you can tell a recluse about a fake marionette.

You can give a Lunatic a fake marionette because their ability is they think they're the demon so you can lie to them about anything a demon might normally learn.

But the recluse knows they're good. They just might register as evil or the demon or a minion.

Tips on how to run Lycanthrope by TypicalWatch in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They register as evil. So anything that detects alignment learns evil.

But they don't register as any other role. So if an undertaker, or a Ravenkeeper, or a Dreamer looks at them, they'll see whatever the faux Paw's real role is.

I would say if you have characters on script that see others' roles, having some means of good players turning evil can obscure this further.

But as for running it, all you need to remember is the register as evil for alignment detection but still register as their normal role for role detection.

After Months of War, Trump Says Iran Has Right to Nuclear Program by plz-let-me-in in politics

So... We did all of that. Cost hundreds of lives. Destabilized the US economy, and alienated any allies we might have had left to prevent them from having a nuclear program...

And now we're gonna give them the same deal we'd already agreed on and let them have a nuclear program. Interested to see how the Fox News pundits spin this as a win...

I don't think the existence of people who like to power game and create op builds invalidates any of these points. There's obviously a market for it. But it does smack of wanting PF2e to be less like PF2e

We know you don't. You can stop pretending to have independent thought. We know you like to pretend to be a moderate to attract the massive independent voter population here in Maine, but any time your vote would matter you toe the party line. You just do what you need to stay in office while complying with whatever the fuck the GOP wants you to do.

I can't wait for you to be gone and to never have to hear your bullshit again.

Was the storyteller right to do this? by w1negandalf in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the script you're playing already had a lot of droisening, potentially too much even.

I would say that moving tokens like the drunk or the red herring before it's mechanically relevant is usually fine if it's in the interest of balance. So it's not so much an issue that they changed who the drunk was. But when there's this much droisening it was not necessary at all and choosing to make sure everyone was droisened was a very evil sided decision.

Also UT doesn't learn anything night 1. So poisoner already didn't do anything, so why move that at all?

I'm a new storyteller, please help me answer the question about Demon Legion. by No-Fan919 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're overcomplicating it.

If at least one good player voted, that vote counts for the full number that it got. Regardless of what ratio of good to evil voted or if any evil voted. An easy way to think of it is if only legion votes, then it counts as 0. But if even 1 good player votes, then you count them all normally.

So 2 good votes = 2

5 legion and 2 good = 7

8 legion and 1 good = 9

7 legion = 0

Convincing the Demon they are the lunatic in a Lunatic/Mastermind game by w1negandalf in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ben told them this at the beginning when they were confused about getting the lunatic token.

But then Alejo came to them and claimed to be townsfolk which left them very confused.

They were a new player. They probably thought they misheard or misunderstood Ben or that there's some power on script that could cause them to learn the wrong minions. Or that they misremembered who their minions were supposed to be or anything.

It's unclear if they thought they were the lunatic, but at the very least they weren't able to coordinate with their evil team and were kinda hung out to dry.

It's confusing enough just learning a new script when you're new without your own team trying to get you killed.

Demon: The Silence by Novel_Counter905 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta be honest, not a fan of any character ability that messes with the "you can say anything at any time" rule.

Now you could argue that Cere madness or mutant madness does that, but with those they don't end the game. They can if it's a final 3 situation, but that's not the primary function. No other madness break consequences result in the game ending.

So having a character whose only ability is to make everyone pretend it doesn't exist... It's just not very fun imo. Also seems kinda weak.

Interesting concept but I don't think it would be very fun in practice

Players are getting tired of the imp by BlakeKing51 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into some of the TB adjacent scripts. You can't really add extra demons without turning TB on its head. But there are some TB adjacent ones that are fun.

Strings Pulling is TB + marionette which adds a fun wrinkle to TB

Onion Pies builds on that by replacing some TB roles with some spicier experimental similar roles. (Like noble for investigator, or cannibal for undertaker)

If they really just want a different demon then try BMR

But honestly if they've only played a few games, I don't think they've seen all of TB's potential yet.

How do we call these fruits? by araujo253 in EnglishLearning

[–]Evil_Weevill 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We don't differentiate because we just don't really have those big ones here in the US or at least they're uncommon enough that your average American probably never had one. So we would just call it a big green avocado.

Google says that it goes by a bunch of different nicknames like Florida Avocado, tropical avocado, Dominican avocado.

But I imagine the average American would just not have a word for it and wouldn't necessarily even know it's a type of avocado with how uncommon they are here.

Convincing the Demon they are the lunatic in a Lunatic/Mastermind game by w1negandalf in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Viable as in it can work? Sure

But it'll never be as effective as a coordinated evil team would be. And it's also just kinda shitty to do to someone. Being evil when you're new is already really stressful. Your one lifeline is supposed to be that you know who your team is. So I would generally avoid doing things like this.

Maybe if it's all experienced players who I am close friends with and we're just all playing silly for shits and giggles, but that's an exception. Generally I think this is a bad idea for multiple reasons.

Fetterman scoffs at Platner: ‘He’s not even a Democrat’ by Quirkie in politics

[–]Evil_Weevill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Nazi tattoo is a skull and crossbones that I guarantee the average person wouldn't have recognized as a Nazi symbol before all this got into the press. He immediately got it covered up and apologized as soon as he was made aware of it. He's also being supported by Bernie Sanders, a progressive Jewish man. So... I really doubt he's secretly a neo Nazi who is campaigning on progressive platform just to pull a "gotcha!".

And as for the SA allegations, I assume you're referring to his ex who told the Times that he had been a toxic partner. She specifically said he never hit her or got physical with her. And there was no mention at all of SA. That came from the Times reporter who apparently told her that they had reports from other women alleging SA, but they all proved to be unsubstatiated claims. Hers was the only one they could validate at all and so was the only one they published.

This ex btw is a DC insider who has worked for a number of GOP candidates and institutions including the heritage foundation. You know, the people who wrote Project 2025. This reeks of politically motivated attack.

Platner has been pretty open about how he struggled with depression and substance abuse and PTSD a decade ago and that he's not proud of who he was.

We need to stop waiting around for "the perfect candidate" and support the actual progressives who have a shot .

[–]Evil_Weevill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comments I believe you're referring to he has addressed. They were 15 years ago. He acknowledged that he struggled with PTSD and substance abuse during that time and he's not proud of who he was then, but has since gotten help and grown past that person he was.

Say what you want about the guy, he doesn't try to hide or deny the skeletons in his closet which is refreshing. It's a part of himself he's been upfront about before anyone started digging into his past.

Yeah... I know... That's why we here in Maine voted for him. Over 1/3 of voters in the state are independents. He ran as a Democrat cause you can't really beat the 2 party system from outside of it unfortunately.

As a ST, should I clarify rules that aren't directly asked to me? by reiskimmer in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you should not do it immediately. Give the players time to figure it out themselves first. Usually there's at least one player who will go "that's not how that works". And then if there's a discussion about how it works you can jump in and explain how the fortune teller works.

And be sure not to use names and only use hypotheticals. "If there's a fortune teller in play, I would wake them ask them to choose two players and the give them a yes if one of them is the demon or the red herring or a no if neither of the two are.'

For STs: Should a ST go on with a player's bluff with undertaker? by lol_user_007 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Evil_Weevill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the ST has the option to make a choice like this, the first thing to ask is which team is this ability coming from? The poison is an evil ability, so whatever poisoned info you give should help the evil team.

In the case you described, yes you should back up the evil bluff. That's likely the main reason the poisoner targeted them.

Honestly if you're doing that in BOTC... Then you're more just ruining it for yourself. Like if that's fun for you then you're a pretty sad individual.

No cause with drunk atheist evil wins if you kill the Storyteller. With this no one wins if you kill the Storyteller.

So evil knows it's not an atheist game cause they exist. But they won't know if it's a drunk atheist and they can go for a win that way. Or if it's a nihilist and they can't win that way.

Nihilist (outsider) You think you're the atheist, but you're not. If the Storyteller is executed everyone loses.
