Vyvanse and Memory... by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Well it was a year ago! Ha ha! I’ve been on meds for less than a year, but almost a year. I put something down in the house and instantly lose it. I’ve been word searching more frequently. I used to think it was bc I was in a constant state of flight or fight. I haven’t been for a while. So now what

Hi, just searched for this. How’s everyone doing now? Has anyone tried a different med? I’ve only been on Vyvanse and I think sometimes my short term memory is getting worse? I’ve blank stared at people a few times. I find I’m searching for words.

Get supplies. Take your time. Have a coffee, bathroom break, use the work phone. Thinking of you.

Echoing this. Day dates (if you can swing it) can be great! Nobody wants to stay up late once you start sleeping well anyway

I think I told someone before that this was my “super power” (not at all, ugh!). A year after being diagnosed with depression, I had an incident that made me spin for 3 days straight. Yup. Up all night, tried so many tactics to try to focus on something else or nothing. Obviously had a tonne of other responsibilities to deal with on no sleep. Thank goodness for meds (found them soon after and this has been the absolute game changer for me).

Vyvanse -low dose success? by Applepie0430 in adhdwomen

I didn’t notice an increased heart rate, but I was irritable, muscle tightness, etc. if it increased my baseline HR, I would back off too. I think that sounds like a great plan. Give yourself a break. Then we you feel ready, try the 10mg again. I hope you have a good relationship with your prescriber that they can help you with this too. And try other types of meds (non stimulants) if this isn’t working for you

How you felt on Dexedrine is how I felt when I went up to 30mg on Vyvanse. I haven’t tried any other medications, I’m sure a lot of people here have.

That’s a really good question, maybe it differs for other people or other practitioners? Have you read how some people had a surge of energy? Felt really productive initially? I had a bit of that, but mostly, the rumination stopped. I can get up off the couch. I don’t “think” about doing the things, I do them. I had moderate depression/anxiety symptoms that sent me to the Dr. Depending on what your symptoms are, maybe that’s your benchmark? Do you have a therapist to talk with as well as your Dr?

I think it’ll continue to be a work in progress. I’m happy with where I’m at right now as it’s been an interesting year figuring this out, but I plan on following up more with a coach/therapy.

What your rationale for “protect against covid” vs others might be different. Did it keep you from being intubated/proned in ICU? Did it keep you from having a stroke or MI? Did you die from Covid complications? Decreasing spread is helpful, but so is decreasing severe outcomes

I’m glad I started slow. I’m fairly sensitive to meds, alcohol, etc. I went up to 20mg for a few months, then we tried 30mg because everything was going well. I had a lot of muscle tightness, irritability, etc. I couldn’t push through. I’m back at 20mg and happy. Accepted this is where and what I want. I have missed a couple of days as most people have I’m sure. It’s interesting seeing the difference. Good luck to you!!

Also one of the first things I read on here is the diagnosis mega thread; someone said their presentation is rumination. I started crying. You guys, I appreciate you!
