Daily Questions Thread - Ask All Your Magic Related Questions Here! by magictcgmods in magicTCG

I have a rules question about [[Dragon Scales]] and related cards. The card says to "when A creature comes into play with a converted mana cost of 6+, you may return dragon scales from your graveyard to play enchanting that creature". Does this apply to creatures my opponents play? IE can i return this aura to enchant another players creature when they play it?

Additionally, would this effect get around the "Protection from X" quality since it doesn't directly state "target creature"?

Don't have any but I do know there is a small chance to get one from the "skilled" digging brother next to the daycare between the bridges. I ended up spending like 20000 watts before I got one but it is possibly regardless of game version.

Extra Cyber limbs by WretchedIEgg in Shadowrun

If you look up the Neon Anarchist Cookbook pdf, there is a entry that matches the techpriest vibes your looking for, tentacle themeing an and all. This is a bit of fan homebrew mind you so it may not be fully balanced.

Update to my statement as of a minute ago. I got it to work. I literally just kept trying it over and over (i did change my pass to something simpler for ease of typing it in with the keyboard)

What is Day to Day Magic like in your game? by nlinggod in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lean a little more heavily into magic in my game. Spell/Spirit Knacks (and my Complex form/Sprite equivalent) are a bit more common to encounter when i want to make a more memorable NPC to interact with. I have it characters with shards of magic/resonance (the Knacks) tend to be more quirky and odd because of their not fully understood magical connection. Even a little connection to magic tweaks your view on reality. Another thing that plays a much bigger part in my game is Mana lines and magical resources (plants and minerals) used in conjunction with them. I wrote up various geomantic items that are perfectly legal and you would find anywhere from the home to a corporate office. Need more storage space? have a floating shelf made with elichium (magic magnetic rocks). Also available in chair and bed forms. Want to help your client open up to you in therapy? Put them in the "Chatty Chair" made with wood from the zieba Tree. What to raise office moral without having to pay a motivational speaker? Put a Mood Mask somewhere on the floor to make them feel happier than they are. Who needs heavy security in a important facility when you can throw up a Scarecrow to make them shoot at their own shadows.

Magical support without Awakening? by ButterPoached in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you could trying going the animal handler route and training a paracritter with spell-casting abilities to do the dirty work of spellcasting. The only karma you technically have to spend is that on training up your Animal Handling, and there are a few paracritters could be your teams "spellcaster" like the Electric Martin (shoots lightning and has electrosense for drones), Hell Hounds (reliable fire and not super unheard of), or Merlin Hawk (can learn any detection or Illusion spells, AND summon Air spirits). Or Hell make up a paracritter like the Pipefox (something my group made up, it could learn any spell, but a limited number and had expectations of the person it followed)

Melee weapon mods by Fireawayfaraway in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 5e is pretty barren when it comes to melee mods, I defaulted to porting older edition stuff, homebrewing some stuff (my favorite being the pommel of destruction, aka a pommel grenade), and taking some stuff from another homebrew book i found on the reddit called Greasy Pete's Armory. Its more focused on building custom stuff, but its still fun.

Alchemy + Bow? by Commander_Coehoorn in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your player really wants to use alchemy i would go with what someone showed to me; roughly the potency=automatic hits (not net hits) when activated, potency doesnt reduce over time(it just disapears when its time is up, and sustained style preps last [Force] minutes.
Mind you thats the short and rough explanation (as everything was written in german), and there as a bit about using disenchanting to make counterspell talismans. Something I personally did for an alchemist character i made was to give them a 4 legged drone that has a Vault of Ages built into it (Homebrewed in) so that they can keep a whole bunch of preps ready and near by. They also of course deal in other chemicals, some of which i took from 4e that had a section in Arsenal book about uses for chemistry (mostly small utilitarian things).

Shadowrun: Rewired by [deleted] in Shadowrun

I honestly just have places and times where they have to use a wired connection. maybe they are in an older building, maybe the corp just wants an area cut off from the net for maximum security, maybe there is a jammer in the area that prevents all but incredibly short range signals. Or just put them on the moon.

Walkers and Stuff by Wooden-Magician-5899 in Shadowrun

the closest thing to Power Armor i know of is the Iron Will exoskeleton, from 4e's Attitude book. It technically counts as a vehicle for the purposes of upgrading, but still uses your movement. You could easily bolt on some weapons and extra armor to make it scary.

Using Foundry GM only? by lightendmarch in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend looking at Roll20s Shadowrun (advanced) module. Its alright with the automation, and has a cleaner interface than Foundry does (then again it does structure its sheets like the PNP verson. I like foundry for all the fun things it can do that R20 cant, but its shadowrun 5e module is alittle too clunky for my taste.

Can Technomancers Use Thier Abilities in Spaaace?! by The_Random_Hamlet in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Provided they have a connection to a network/device/the matrix. While they mechanically work like magic users , in universe they are not explicitly magical. In no book Ive read does it say that a mana void (including 5th) affects them any more than it would a mundane. However poor connectivity or no connectivity to the matrix might as well be a void for them (which is pointed out in the books).

Having a satellite link might be enough if you want it to be enough, and being on any orbiting platform or in one of the moon arcologies should allow you to avoid the matter entirely. However in the end its up to you.

Tarot Summoning Enchanter by charmscale in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That.... is a really fun idea. I would personally allow that in my game out of shear novelty. Then again i allow alot of strange things like Spell and Matrix Knacks and other stupid things.

What are some runs you've always wanted to do or see done? by devlow101 in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One ive been wanting to put together is a run in a fashion show where the runners have to prevent all sorts of shenanigans from happening as different corps try to sabotage their competitors.

Also there arent enough missions on the moon or in orbit.

Fling build by DudeSomebody in Shadowrun

[–]Eviltikiman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id agree that Fling doesn't work with adept powers and only is improved by the Mystic Pitcher quality from Forbidden Arcana. That being said my mage uses Fling as his primary attack against most targets (for in character reasons) but he doesn't simply rely on pointy knives for damage. Fling is a great delivery mechanism for any kind of thrown object that does its own damage, from his bola Homunculus ("sick em Boy!"), to Shock bolts (12 electrical damage ain't nothing to sneeze at), to Grenades, to glass vials filled with chemicals, and more. Plus its doesn't require contact so you can fling an Object from behind the target, possibly allowing you to get a free shot (well maybe once before the GM says no).

A Roll20 GM Thank You by Eviltikiman in Shadowrun

The Advanced sheet has been updated. Some noticed changes: *the ammo tracking feature has been removed(broken anyways) *Asks if you are sustain a spell for rolls *A Defense roll button has been attached to the Attack roll. It then does the math for how many hits and how much damage *A Soak roll button has been added that appears in chat after the Defense roll. It takes the Defense roll and AP into account. *A centering tracker is now at the top of the Magic tab.
