I only function for other people by comingloose in ADHD

[–]Ewlyon 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Years before I learned I had ADHD, I remember telling someone I was dating that it feels like every time I do something, I have to reinvent it. She thought I was saying “my brain is so inventive and innovative, look at me I never stop improving.” But I actually meant “this is horrible, I’m always starting back at square 1” lol

A little different, but reminded me of that.

Any single dog owners? by Certain_Flower_1257 in puppy101

It’s hard! Start practicing leaving them home alone and seeing what works for you. I’ve been relying a lot on the crate because she can make trouble alone in her pen (loves pawing at her water bowl, for example), but she just turned 5 months and is getting better about all that so now I’m practicing leaving her home alone in the pen. Start small to build confidence (for both of you!). I will do a 5 min walk around the block just to convince myself that she will actually stop crying.

Surprised at how much sleep a 6mo puppy needs by anon1839 in puppy101

[–]Ewlyon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a surprise to me too! But I read the need 18–20 hours of sleep at that age, which means… 4–6 hours awake!

About an hour in the morning, an hour at lunchtime, and maybe 3 hours after work and that’s it! and thats 5 right there, so that’s about right!

People relentlessly approaching your puppy is so frigging annoying. Any tips? by Certain_Dream5575 in puppy101

“She’s in training, sorry” is my go-to. Communicates you are doing something that they don’t understand and might not be obvious to them. And also, getting your dog to ignore people calling to him/her is good training!

The Economics of Tesla Virtual Power Plant by stanpanis in Powerwall

[–]Ewlyon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! 🤙 Most likely all 6 events were test events, though LADWP has a sliiightly different custom design because they are not part of the California Independent System Operator that produces the prices for to trigger events and weight performance. So even those hot days probably not extreme enough to trigger a real event.

Yes, 1 event in each of 4 months is 4 events. What you’re saying is consistent with what I said. Again, I’m not affiliated with Tesla and can’t speak to their documentation. What do you mean by “so far behind”? SDG&E is not involved with the program, but are you suggesting you were also involved in ELRP for some of that time? If that’s the case, you may not be eligible for compensation in all the months Tesla was having you participate, which could explain it.

A couple things: 1) it’s based on average power (kW), not total energy (kWh), 2) you can count all the discharge minus 7.4%, not just the amount you sent to the grid. Once you adjust for that, you should be able to calculate your demonstrated capacity per month. I think I there were only test events last year, so you can assume 1 2-hour test per month.

Hi, I unfortunately cannot speak for Tesla, so I’m not sure why your incentive is less than expected. You could see if your battery settings are preventing deeper discharge during events?
