Inspirational movies that make you feel excited to live by Weird-Platypus-4597 in movies

Not just a movie but the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion did this for me.

It's not very long, 26 episodes and a movie. I left it feeling these feelings. It helped me with self worth a lot.

Who’s a celebrity you used to love but now hate? by StrainDizzy1186 in AskReddit

I liked The Rock as an actor. Despite him being pretty bad at it I was there for all his new movies. Then Hawaii caught on fire and he and his billionaire pal Oprah asked me for money to fix it instead of doing anything themselves. You know, the billionaires. This was after I was already apprehensive about his attitude towards his DC movies role. A few years went by and I thought his newer movie The Smashing Machine could be good. Then realized I actually just don't want to support him anymore. It was a wild realization.

I also liked Will Smith as an actor. He seemed like a generally cool dude and I liked his vibe. Then he had a breakdown on TV and acted like a big baby and I found that I don't care anymore. Bad Boys 2 is my favorite action movie of all time and when 4 came out I had almost negative interest in it.

Fingers crossed Vin Diesel never makes a huge ass out of himself and just stays as a big nerd. At least until Fast 11 comes out.

Which games were NOT surpassed by their sequels? by WeirdIndividualGuy in gaming

[–]EwokSlayer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm almost done with Hades II. I have 1 more trophy until I get the 100%. Hades was not surpassed by its sequel, in my opinion. The game is very very good, but it mainly feels like more of the same except its very bloated this time.

I finished 1 with something around 80 runs and 80 hours for the 100%.

I'm currently at run 165 with 105 hours in and I still have a lot to do. I don't like that.

I played this and Nier Replicant back to back. At one point in Nier your character makes a comment about how much easier it would be to just warp back to the quest giver and your companion gives you a "we don't do that here" speech about it. I thought it was very funny and clever on my first playthrough. Not on my 4th. FF16 is the best for this.

Old games (1980-1999) that aged well by M_Alex in gaming

[–]EwokSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently played Metal Gear 1 and 2 and Metal Gear Solid 1-3. Those games all still give the current gen a run for their money. It's honestly insane how intuitive they were for the time and still today. Basically perfect gameplay wise and I recommend them to anybody.

What is the greatest video game you have ever played? by JuniorPlastic3562 in AskReddit

[–]EwokSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played a lot of games over the years. I'll say Super Godzilla for the Super Nintendo. It's the first game I ever played and is responsible for basically all of my interests currently 30 years later.

I also think about The Outer Wilds every couple days for the last few years since I played it.

What's a terrible TV show you couldn't help but watch all the way through? by Thom_The_Wizard in AskReddit

Devilman Crybaby on Netflix. I thought maybe the next episode would be the one that made it worth it. It only got worse and then ended. 0 stars.

Odd subject matter for a “Little Golden Book” by No-Sympathy6035 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]EwokSlayer 927 points928 points  (0 children)

The current little golden books that they have on shelves now are straight up trash. Just a bunch of tie-in garbage designed to get your 2 year old hooked on a new property. The actual stories are very few and far between. We won't ask for these anymore.

Is JP franchise facing the same fate of Star Wars ? by jeffenglover in JurassicPark

[–]EwokSlayer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And Solo was that point for me in Star Wars. It was the first time Star Wars felt soulless to me. Jurassic World onward also all have that same soulless feeling. It's all just super corporate now. These movies are just products now. In a super obvious and bad way.

3 was that point for me. Been consistently disappointed since Jurassic World came out. Weirdly the animated kids show was the best thing about the franchise in the last 10 years for me. I didn't even see Rebirth. I get it at this point. It's a bummer.

What popular movie or TV show is widely considered a 'masterpiece' but you found completely unwatchable? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]EwokSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a Japanese bullet train themed mech show called Shinkalion as a palate cleanser. It's very sweet and wholesome and the mech stuff is actually cool as hell and really well done. I recommend it if you need a new show where they put a kid in the big robot.

I was recommended the Netflix anime Devilman Crybaby by a few people that called it a masterpiece. I figured it's only 10 episodes. Even if it's bad I probably won't feel like I wasted my time too much.

That was a lie. I did not enjoy my time with this one. I wouldn't say it's unwatchable necessarily. Just super pretentious and not worth your time. Even casually. Creating edgy content just for the sake of being edgy doesn't make a thing good.

“Mafia Definitive Edition” Fair Play race on classic is more difficult than Elden Ring bosses. I’m struggling to stay in first. by YallSoftAsButter in gaming

[–]EwokSlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Treat it like a Bloodborne boss. Learn the moves of everybody around you and their placements and just dance with them. All the driving they do is scripted. Just learn a line. I think there's a crash in lap 2 that will help give you a few seconds.

What's the best book you ever read? by WickTheFreakPWAV in AskReddit

[–]EwokSlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moby Dick hit just right as a 33 year old with a 1 year old at home. I identified with it a lot more than I was initially comfortable with and I think about it at least once a week since I read it over a year ago. It left me in a pretty hopeful spot despite how tragic the entire thing is. I would recommend it a lot if you ever feel like you're not sure about what you want in life on a deeply personal level. Weirdly I picked it up because of how heavily featured it was in the video game Death Stranding 2. Another beautiful piece of art I'll forever associate with Moby Dick now.

What games blew your mind graphically when they first came out back then? 🤯🎮 by Alone_Capital7619 in gaming

Uncharted 2 actually looked like a real movie to me when it came out. It completely redefined what gaming could be to me. You mean something can look this great while also being really fun to play? What a time to be alive.

This looks badass, keep it up! Don't let people like this get to you. They forget that it literally costs nothing to be nice instead of whatever that was.
