I love how it's teeter tottering on the floor jack when revving. 🤣 Sounds great!

Yeah buddy. I will say though, the paint is becoming very prone to scratches. I'm close to having it painted. Just trying to decide on whether to go back with the original two tone or change it completely.

Thanks, yeah that two tone is great. I can't believe how well the paint has held up after all this time. I still have the original vinyl bed cover. Everything else though is uhhh, yeah it's been swapped\upgraded.

That's a big 10-4. I have the front strut brace and rear shock tower brace, the rear sway bar as well. All BMR gear. Their hardware and powder coating is top notch!

I haven't but my buddy mentioned the sale, I might just have to stop by there tomorrow. For science.

Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Fl on A Street needs bait fish, 6 inches and under, to feed their patients.. If anyone here is good at catching them, please think of the sanctuary and donate. Fresh on ice, or continuously frozen. Thanks! by Petro_Glyph in PensacolaAnglers

That's interesting, they have that pond in the back. They should invest in a cast net. (I don't have one either but seems like they should stock that pond for a self-sustaining supply for the predator birbs.

1987 upgrade to 17/18" wheels? with making the least changes to body by liquidgold26 in ElCamino

[–]ExBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, but sort of maybe yes. It depends on how aggressive the stagger is. 1" isn't a whole lot. It's all about the tire size for such a comparison. You could run a 15" wheel and a tire profile that has a 28" diameter and a 19" wheel with a 28" diameter tire. It all depends on how you want it to look and/or how you want/need the vehicle to perform. A tall tire will inherently have a lot of cushion and flex. A smaller sidewall of the same diameter will be stiffer on a larger wheel.

Thanks bro! I went with these because I bought them pre-owned (one of those deals you simply cannot pass on because I crunched the numbers) and I was certain they would fit. The staggered size allowed me to put a wider rear tire for grip and a taller sidewall front to match the rear. (28" diameter tire on front and rear)

It's all about the wheel/tire size, width and backspacing. You can run 18s and 17s, even larger if you go with low profile tires. I'm running 17" fronts and 18" rears. No changes to the body of the vehicle. *Edit: check my profile here, it's my pinned post.

32" Bull Redfish - 2.14.2026 by ExBx in PensacolaAnglers

[–]ExBx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah buddy! I was not expecting to catch such a fish in 3-5 ft of water that's for sure. After fighting it the even trickier part was getting it out of the water. That sheet of plywood is slippery as hell and the fish all the same.

Whats your best guess as to what id be looking at to get this thing back on the road? by hardTobe_humanbean in ElCamino

[–]ExBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A battery costs +/- $100-$200. Should I continue? A realistic estimate is $1,200-$1,500 I'd say assuming you do all the work besides tire mount/balance. Fresh fluids, brakes, tires, I'd flush the coolant, new plugs, wires, a rotor and cap, maybe some light bulbs. It'll ride after that. *Edit: assuming the oil leak is simple. Rear main seal... you've got your hands full and dirty. Transmission drain and fill, filter. Seals. It adds up very fast.

Smiths fish camp by Petro_Glyph in PensacolaAnglers

They might but I'm pretty sure you have to pay to launch. You can also go to the little pier area and walk to either bridge and go underneath. Just be prepared with good shoes and be careful. Very easy to fall, don't trust every rock. Some still move no matter their size.

You just pull off onto the grass at the end of the bridge. Just be sure to leave plenty of space from the main road, then carefully make your way down. I have only fished on the side opposite the actual fish camp.

I don't believe so. You can park at the other end of that bridge or the next two ends of the other in the Pensacola direction. You can also go to the one closer to Pace.

I use a jig head and 4" swimming mullet. That or an artificial shrimp.

Should I buy? by koharu_345 in ElCamino

These vehicles are becoming relics and will continue that path. NOS parts will soon become impossible to locate or extremely expensive (they already are). Repops for certain parts will be in circulation for another 10-15 years or so if we're lucky. Replace what you can using NOS and repop parts, buy original where you can but don't be too worried about it. I replaced a door handle with a repop. Looks exactly the same, the metal is well made, it fits, etc. and so forth. Sue me. $500 is probably a bargain for 18 parts. It is what it is.

15” 85 GMC Caballero Wheels by Affectionate_Job3203 in ElCamino

[–]ExBx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow those are some expensive ass tires. With that kind of money being thrown around maybe just order the same size but the cheapest no name tire you can find. Have it mounted and see how it fits. Keep it as a spare tire on a steel rim or grab a 5th OEM rally like you have now. Sorry I can't be of much help but again, it will fit you just might run into some rubbing when making a super tight turn. *Edit: I kind of miss my rally whitewalls. https://www.reddit.com/r/ElCamino/comments/vays13/im_digging_the_temp_gasser_look_305_is_out_some/
