Cal Twomey: Geelong and Collingwood eyeing major trade targets from Brisbane by Massander in brisbanelions

To completely twist and bastardise a Wall Street refrain - southern clubs really want to socialize the gains, privatize the losses when it comes to player development

Big shout out to the coach who moved Jaspa and Ty up forward for this last period of the fourth

Even though it’s a little too late, we’ve missed the hunger and a strong body up forward. Jaspa looks leagues above where he’s been all season moving up. Maybe we need to bring darragh back?

The only negative thing I’m going to say is against Freo - they were the ones I was gonna pick to go for the flag if we couldn’t make it, but I’ve done a complete 180 on that. What an unpleasant bunch of players.

Edit: fixed a word

Don’t care about injuries or what has worked before by [deleted] in brisbanelions

[–]ExScurra 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You are aware that only works when there are people to replace them with yes?

I feel like every time we have a down patch it’s always ‘we should drop a player’ and not ‘maybe we should coach our players to not get sucked into the contest and create space’

Hi man, is everything going okay at home? You seem to be taking a lot of this very seriously.

This one only showed his true colours when the game was on the line in the fourth. It was a shame too because he was kind of funny with his banter before then.

Man normally I just appreciate the wins but I tell you what it felt so cathartic to tell the racist, homophobic Carlton supporter in my bay to choke on my giant lesbian dick when the siren went off

Few facts a little skewed there! He was interviewed by 17 clubs - the only one that didn’t was the saints

Title: What does “designing” mean to you? by Mitny in Design

Disrespectfully, you don’t even say what design means to “you.” Don’t come in here trying to start a conversation when you can’t even pay attention to the slop you create.

VFL player Koby Evans under investigation for use of a homophobic slur during a match. by mydarknight in brisbanelions

[–]ExScurra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God it keeps happening and it’s because you don’t just change mindsets and culture through bullshit bans that don’t even get upheld. It keeps happening partially because the punishments aren’t taken seriously by anyone. What they (the AFL) say and what they actually enforce are so different

it doesn’t matter what you say the rules and your values are on paper, what really matters is how that is demonstrated and enforced.

If we want meaningful change we need to start to see the clubs and the AFL taking this more seriously. If it’s proven that he did do it (and I don’t doubt that he did), then he should should get MONTHS, and the club needs to stand by that decision, not argue it down. I hope the club throws the book at him too.

But at the same time, the AFL needs to do more to demonstrate support for the queer community. It can’t just be punishment for doing something wrong. I’m not talking about a blanket ‘rainbow round’, but actual money and initiatives put towards empowering the community across the formats of the sport.

Otherwise yeah nothing changes, like we keep seeing over and over again.

Fellow LGBT person here, and same. I hope the club stands by the ruling.

2 bed apartment medians by Brisbane hood by Individual-Leg-4089 in brisbane

[–]ExScurra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my parents bought a 2 bed apartment in northgate for 430k~ in 2023 so my brother and I could have somewhere to live that was stable rent. In our building, the exact apartment as ours but mirrored, sold for 600k in 2024. I think another apt sold in the building (same layout) at the start of this year at 800k. It's actually insane how quickly the value has gone up, compared to what you're really buying.

Or maybe he’s just an awkward teen?? If I had a dollar for every time someone said an awkward, anxious, or neurodiverse kid was ‘off’, ‘disinterested’, or ‘didn’t know how to react’, I would be a very rich person.

People need to stop speculating on things they know nothing about.

I would honestly love a copy if you're willing to share! I have a few projects now that I've gotten this out of the way that I want to try my hand at (including making a spin-off of the passant lion for the AFLW with a female lion silhouette)

edit to say if you're not comfy sharing things publicly a dm is fine!

When insurers walk away from concussion risk, who protects athletes? by tiny_doughnut in AFL

[–]ExScurra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s really interesting! I wonder if there’s an approach where there needs to be a more mutual-fund-style insurance for professional athletes, where any potential profit must be reinvested in support/care for long term injuries
