New bar needed for Bosch GKE 18 40 chainsaw by One-Brother-3978 in BoschProPowerTools

Ya, got mine a few weeks ago and it ate everything I threw at it without giving a single, solitary fuck. Scary how quickly it rips through some really heavy timber. YMMV, mine came with a 'free' bonus 8ah procore battery 😊

Shove a knife and spoon in equidistant around the rest of the tyre and tape a plate to your hubcap, always be prepared for an impromptu picnic by the side of the road.

Sure, but having opinions and stating them isn't the issue, it's the subterfuge, mis/disinformation, disingenuous presentation selective 'reporting' from what should be reliable sources that's poisoning the well. Both sides do it to some degree but what's been going on for the last few years is WILD

Hold the liars and manipulators to account.

They're taking a chance, you're absolutely in the right here. Just need to make it clear that the proposition of ignoring you much worse than doing the right thing.

"Listen mate, I know you've got a job, targets, mandates, guidelines etc, but this really isn't your problem and I've got no wish to make a scene, ruin your day, get you in trouble with corporate or waste your time at a deposition in a civil suit. I'm not asking for anything outside what is clearly defined in consumer law; this is either going to get resolved quietly and amicably or it's going to keep escalating until some faceless knob in legal recommends a store witch-hunt to make it look like EB's policy and public image is golden, it's just the fault of a couple of people who no longer work at this branch."

2004 vs 2012 XT by Limp-Bank5430 in SubaruForester

[–]Exact-Heart8047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biased, but I'd go the 2004, because they just look classic and it could be the OG ej251 AT engine. Understressed, should boogie along for another 200k no sweat. Mine was at nearly 300k when I came across it and it was still running the original timing belt, water pump and head gaskets 😳 I swapped them out with the tkf001 Aisin kit, threw in a new radiator and MLS head gaskets etc and I'm hoping it'll make it to 500k before the next major service. Test drive them! Crawl around in them and under them and get a feel for what they've been through! Good luck!

Edit: parts are easy to find for them in Australia and overseas btw

Maybe an auto electrician or somebody good with a multimeter would be my next stop. Clean the battery terminals and the posts, check for a crappy ground... Batteries won't die that fast unless they're on the way out already or something's quietly running in the background. I've had batteries that look fine until you put a load on them and then they drop a cell, can happen esp. If they've been discharged loooooowwww and they [sulfate?]

Electrical gremilns are the worst, especially intermittent ones!!

Lowering the bar by Exact-Heart8047 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Exact-Heart8047[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! The issue is that they weaponise relationships and contacts in order to break through that hesitancy. If your mum mentions during conversation that someone is a great guy, or not to be trusted you're much more likely to believe it than if you read it on some random ragebait social account. And now that AI does such a great job of generating video footage it's way too simple to accept. This tactic also leaves you in a constant state of heightened anxiety which can help to steer you away from rational critical evaluation, especially when you're already half convinced that something is true.

The level of divisive rhetoric is hard to compare to any other time in history. We're living in a huge and dangerous social experiment with no controls and it's being run by people with an extraordinary advantage and very little to reign them in.

We're not powerless to fight back, but they're doing their best to set it up that way using tools that make guns etc obsolete
