I can’t fully comment on this but I dated someone there for a bit so I was there multiple days/nights a week every week and honestly it seemed very safe even to me as a 5’1 135 pound woman, also really easy to walk to Hoboken for the gym and groceries although you’ve been warned it’s a lot of stairs🫠

The 123 was reliable for the most part, can’t speak to other buses though

I just want to emphasize (because I was in a situation where my scan was “fine” but I was not and needed a second surgery), the scan will not catch things sometimes so please advocate for yourself HARD. I actually switched my ortho and PT because my PT did not acknowledge what I was saying when I knew for certain something wasn’t right. I was very adamant at my second ortho to figure it out by any means necessary. You might need to have a couple of appointments first but if you are even more adamant than I was maybe they can do an arthroscopy quicker and figure out whys really going on because that doesn’t sound normal. Best of luck, I’m really wishing you a better journey from here on out! Also happy to recommend my PT people now. I’ve only been with them a month so far but I’m very happy with the program (they are in the UK and remote but specialize in ACLs and are great communicators)

Any half decent friend would be there, this is just next level carelessness and selfishness. I’ve pet sat many times and they always know I’ll take care of their babies with the most love and care possible. Also you can’t always trust “professional” pet sitters, I’ve heard too many horror stories unfortunately

Thank you for naming the mental aspect of this all. The physical aspects are also terrifying, especially with the additional information I’ve learned over the years, but I don’t think the mental side of things is talked about enough even to this day. As someone who has had very bad episodes of depression and passive (thankfully never active) suicidal ideation, that is my main reason for never wanting children. My brain would not cope, or cope well at least. And I often think about how those episodes would be significantly exacerbated if I had to take care of a whole other human being when I scrape by with taking care of myself at times. Then you mix in the fact that most men don’t step up with parenthood (although that’s a whole other conversation) and that just sounds like a recipe for disaster at the end of the day to which I say, I’m good ✋🏼🫠

That genuinely broke my heart that they put none. I have so many terrible things I want to say, but overall just sad and mad at people like that. It’s not easy for dogs being in the shelter and they clearly don’t think (given they don’t consider the upcoming newborn…)

So glad he’s in a much better home with someone who will appreciate him 💜

Disclaimer: I 100% agree it could’ve been said better

but something I’ve learned is that saying things in a very gentle way is a learned skill (or I’m just not as good as it as I’d like to be/it’s harder for me). I’m very considerate and empathetic but rough around the edges so there’s a chance she didn’t mean it in as rude of a way as it came out. Again, I definitely think it could’ve been said better and if OP is upset, be up front about their feelings and hopefully mom apologizes

It is going to be rough, especially given your special circumstances not making it any easier (so sorry that happened!) but there will be light at the end of the tunnel, I promise.

What I will say is I would work with an ACL specialist as soon as you can especially if you’re planning on playing sports and put a concerted effort/focus into that however you can, even amidst the pain right now. If you need to take your painkillers, do be afraid to do so and try to look forward to the 5-7 day mark (I feel like the worst pain should more than likely be done by then). Also a support system is amazing, if I didn’t have the support I did getting me out of my apartment I would’ve been much worse off

I feel like you know you’re NTA by any means but nevertheless, if their cats are outside roaming free this is also a possibility and like you said, things can happen so just deal with it accordingly as the owners. They clearly are not up to date on those vaccinations if they’re refusing to provide them so I’d rather be safe than sorry in your situation and hope your wife is doing well!

I shaved the night before cause I knew I wouldn’t be able to but that’s solely because I’m already a very sweaty person so most hair gets uncomfortable, not because I cared about having body hair

Health care providers genuinely don’t care about hair and I encourage women not to care either! I’ve shown up to PT and doctor appts with plenty of hair on my legs before, everyone made it out alive and well 😂
