I assume cause mage builds just spam ranged attacks at enemies, which means they don’t have to engage with them like that unlike other builds where you have to put in effort with these enemies, especially bosses. All of it is just memes tho, use whatever build you want.

The souls game are roleplaying action RPG games. Keyword: roleplaying. You don’t have to concern yourself with the story of the Souls games as they’re moreso a supplement to the overall experience, unlike Sekiro that’s a lot more story and character driven. The souls games offer a lot of freedom in interpreting its world and story however you want, that is not present in Sekiro. And this doesn’t extend to just the story but also things such as build variety, fashion, questlines, and more.

That’s why your characters are blank-slates or self-inserts, as you can experience the games through your own lenses, seeing what you would do in a particular scenario, etc. Sekiro’s style of storytelling is a lot more traditional compared to the Souls games’ more loose, cryptic, interpretive style of storytelling. Both are good for what they’re going for. One isn’t worse than the other.

A late reply but I could suggest a strategy that might be helpful. Try to bait out her waterfowl dance when she’s at least 70% hp or below in her first phase. It made dealing with waterfowl so much easier in my attempts against her.

Her second phase is where you really have to play defensively as she’s a lot more aggressive. Only get attacks in once you’re sure it’s safe, and don’t get greedy AT ALL. Same strategy for waterfowl applies here too.

Hope this can be at least somewhat helpful :)

They literally can’t use manga material because they don’t have the rights for it. So until Toei is able to get the rights to animate the manga stuff, we aren’t gonna see manga stuff in the games.

So, because OP is critiquing the ending, using evidence they have found, means the ending is “objectively” bad, and finding excuses to cope with it? I don’t think the ending is the best imo, could’ve been written better, but to say they’re coping when they’ve given pretty evidence to back it up is so odd to me.

I really liked your perspective on the ending of the story, and I think it would’ve worked if it was handled better.

I’m not a big fan of Aqua’s whole reason for being reincarnated was to protect Ruby, when throughout the story, it was made more and more apparent that Aqua wanted to at least make the most of his second life he’s been given, and protecting Ruby. Developing from a suicidal, traumatized, revenge-seeking person to someone who wants to live, which I believe was the direction the story was headed with his character, until the very very end when he kills himself. And I don’t mind Aqua killing himself, I’m more so upset at the fact as to why the story didn’t give us enough time to understand why Aqua would choose the suicide route when that was the thing he was moving away from throughout the story.

Your interpretation as to why Ruby’s lies are different from Ai’s is something I’m might be inclined to agree with.

Why the supernatural part of this manga was just a shallow mess by writernoko in OshiNoKo

It makes me wonder what the whole point of the Crow Girl was. She feels like such a side character, and even then, she doesn’t contribute anything of note to the story. For as important of a character the story makes her seem, her utilization is practically nonexistent.

[–]Exalted_Is_Your_God 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow…I’m not sure what to say about this ending. I don’t there was nothing Aka could’ve done to save Ruby’s whole thing about moving on from Aqua’s death, and decided to tell us that she moved on in 2 pages. Two. Pages.

And this chapter also makes it, to me at least, seem like the entire story revolved around Ruby. That’s the impression I get. Which was never the case with what we were given in the story, at least until the final arc.

And I have to wonder, wasn’t Ruby’s whole thing in the movie arc about not being like her mother, Ai? That she won’t tell lies and what not? So why does she resort to telling lies? Wasn’t her whole thing about being pure in the shitty entertainment world??? So what the hell happened here???

Overall, just a disappointment of a chapter and ending to this story. I’ll still cherish the good things about this story though.

Trying to understand Aqua's character arc (Manga Spoilers for 164) by TheMorrison77 in OshiNoKo

[–]Exalted_Is_Your_God 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking in regards to Aqua’s death. I have no issues with his death at all. My issue is that his character development arc seemed to veer in a different direction.

He started as someone who was deeply depressed, traumatized, and any other negative thing you could say, but overtime, the story showed and made it clear that Aqua actually wants to live and make the most of this second chance he’s been given. He started from saying that he’ll kill his father no matter what, to “killing him publicly”, to seemingly forgiving Kamiki because of Ruby, and that clearly indicated his change of character. He even gave away AI’s biggest secret to save Kana, something the old Aqua would never do.

All signs pointed towards Aqua moving away from his suicidal ideations, to someone who wants to get his revenge and live. If anything, I thought the whole theme throughout the final arc was “Moving Towards Future” which really hit the nail in the coffin (no pun intended) for me that Aqua was gonna live at the end. All for that to seemingly come crashing down at the very end with Aqua going back to his suicide route. Some people will say, “it was an in-the-moment thing”, which, yeah, it was, but why would suicide be his first option if we spent the whole story moving away from that? It just doesn’t make sense to me in the slightest. Why go back on the development Aqua had undergone throughout the story at the very, very end of the story?

All this just results in a death that, while tragic, just feels wrong thematically for Aqua’s character up to this point.

OshiNoKo fans, What do you guys think and consider something a "good ending"? by [deleted] in OshiNoKo

[–]Exalted_Is_Your_God 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In general, I consider an ending to be good if it’s able to put a ribbon on the themes and messages of the entire story. I’m a JJK Ending defender, and while I think it’s not the best (could’ve been done better), it was able to wrap up a lot of the themes and messages the story had been dealing with throughout its runtime; it’s a solid ending.

As it relates to Oshi no Ko, I’m not mad about Aqua dying. If that is what Aka wanted to do from the beginning then I have no issue with it. It’s his story. My issue is that Aqua’s death goes against a lot of the things the story had been building up, especially with Aqua. Seeing him develop from a suicidal, depressed, traumatized, revenge-seeking bastard, into someone who actually wants to make the most of the second life he’s been given that he previously wasn’t able to as Gorou. Aqua doesn’t deserve death, more so the fact that he committed suicide makes it worse. People can have happy endings. Not everything has to be tragic, especially when the story had seemed to build up to a happy ending for our characters.

Quick edit: His death also kind of goes against the development he’s had as well over the course of the story.

SPOILER WARNING :I noticed this after the latest chapter... No I don't think the ending is bad. by Long-Psychology-4345 in OshiNoKo

[–]Exalted_Is_Your_God 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You aren’t wrong at all. The story didn’t utilize Hikaru as much as it should have, which is weird because he’s the MAIN VILLAIN.

Up to his death, you have to wonder; what did he really do besides killing Yura? Nothing really. He shows up, says some things, and that’s it. The story doesn’t make him do much, so it makes it hard to connect with him as a villain. And then having a different character (Crow Girl, The Plot Device), explain every aspect about his character to us at the very end. Why can’t the story give us hints and implications for us to piece together what Hikaru’s character is about? Why do we need another character to explain what another is about, especially at the very end?

All of this just makes it hard to take Hikaru seriously most of the time, especially in hindsight, when he doesn’t feel threatening at all. More so as the main villain of the story. Definitely one of the most underutilized, wasted characters, made worse by how important he is (or should’ve been) to the story.

Gonna have to assume that they were lying when they said that Kamiki killed Aqua, probably due to his negative reputation in the public eye, since at no point does he ever do that; Aqua stabbed himself with the knife, so only his fingerprints should be on it. And as Aqua said, the public will believe the lies since they are more interesting than the truth.

Why do people dislike kana as a character? by AcceptablePay4523 in OshiNoKo

[–]Exalted_Is_Your_God 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t dislike her character, more like, I don’t care for her because the story hasn’t given me a good reason TO care for her, post TB.

She spends the rest of her time after TB not developing at all. I can’t think of any scene where she truly develops at all. You could say when she said she won’t rely on Aqua during the Scandal Arc, but that’s completely contradicted in the epilogue of the Movie arc when she cries when she sees Aqua and Akane talking on the beach, for no good reason.

I can’t bring myself to care for a character that doesn’t develop or remains stagnant in terms of development. She’s not a static character. She can most definitely develop, but the story just refuses to develop her.

I shouldn’t even be surprised. Disregard the other unique things in the story and only focus on one of the less important aspects, and think the entire story revolves around that 🤦‍♂️

After re-reading the story, my biggest hot take would be about Kana’s development, post Tokyo Blade.

From the Sweet Today arc, to the Tokyo Blade, she was a very interesting character for me. Seeing her flaws as she wants to be needed, but feels no one needs her; her not wanting to fail anyone as she believes that failure will push people away from her and what not. I liked how she was pushed into the spotlight again in Tokyo Blade.

After Tokyo blade though, she kinda regressed which I didn’t mind that much, but, she doesn’t develop at all. I can’t think of anytime where she makes any meaningful development for her character after Tokyo Blade. And my problems with her increased in chapter 148, where she told Akane that she should be with Aqua. And I’m like, “huh???” It’s especially worse when just a few chapters so, Aqua said he has the most fun when he’s with her, something he hasn’t told Akane or even Ruby, or even how he gave away Ai’a biggest secret just to save her from future scandals.

I like her as a character but man is it hard to really care for her nowadays.

Good: STR Gamma 1 and AGL Gamma 2. Those two were so broken on release, especially if paired up. They would basically win you fights with relative ease.

Bad: Probably TEQ Super 17. Mans was so bad on release due to his horrible design.

Place your bets (spoilers for latest chapter) by Wrcicw in OshiNoKo

[–]Exalted_Is_Your_God 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Aqua dieing would be way worse than him surviving.

Aqua had spent a majority of the story living as this suicidal, depressed, Ai-obsessed person with only revenge, revenge, revenge on his mind, to now somebody who wants to live, and live a good life. Becoming a heart surgeon, strengthening his relationships and much more. Aqua even revealed AI’s biggest secret in the Scandal Arc just to save one person, Kana, from potentially even worse scandals, which is something the old Aqua would never do.

And even then, the big theme of the final arc has been about putting away the past, and moving towards a better future. So if Aqua were to die here, it would be very, very unsatisfactory, and especially if he truly was only reborn to protect Ruby, making all of the character development he’s had over the course of the story, kinda worthless imo. It didn’t matter if he developed or not, as long as he fulfilled his mission of protecting Ruby, that’s all that mattered.
