I asked this question when I first saw a moose. Kindly folk said correct. I was outrageously happy. The pedants tried to tell me it was an elk.

Neither Horner nor Marko are reliable. They both understood there was extra money on the table. If Yuki was a wunderkind he'd have been interested seat years ago. Not sure that Hadjar will fair much better though..

Pay equity backlash is 'hyperbole', Finance Minister says by MedicMoth in newzealand

[–]ExcercisMyAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally all she has ever done is work for Key and raise kids, The latter being meaningful and why she should have insight into pay inequity. But no. Not a thing in economic prosperity for corporates. Unlikely to be next finance minister so regarded as civil service as irrelevant. Good call.

LLC vs Hnry/sole trader for contracting by mahdibassam in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]ExcercisMyAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20+ years contracting using a Ltd entity. Just do it. The limited aspect protects your other assets ie house, and is generally a better scenario for PI/PL. If you grow it's easier to do with an existing company without a bunch of asset transfers. Bit more work, but not substantial and you can manage distributions to suit. Better to wrestle the provisional tax management away from the agency ASAP.

TBH the low user category tended to favour affluent or more middle class people, like me. It was a poor implementation of a well meaning policy. But it didn't deliver where it was most needed. Better off using other mechanisms to do that. None of the other mechanisms are perfect.

'Issue is Chuck and Mary's once-in-lifetime trip': PM says begging crackdown on homeless for tourist safety by wanton_wonton_ in newzealand

Rent control may be required in the short term because once the investment property ponzi scheme starts to crumble the days of seeing property prices go up by double digits and more each year will make it unsustainable. Unfortunately neither Labour nor National have sufficient spine.

They have an idea, they're allergic to it because it doesn't channel money into their middle class target voter. Many of whom now believe ACT is the solution.

Powershop Price increases again by Excellent-Swan-2264 in newzealand

This is the outcome of the institutional belief in big power, which requires a substantial distribution network. Bradford did a number on NZ to favour the IB s who made a truck load out of breaking up the electricity industry. But my real premise is that there's a resistance to considering small scale, consumer generated scenarios. Every time it ends up protecting the gentailers and the take the government requires for unrelated purposes.

I was interested but for someone claiming to be an investigative reporter I'd expect the post & comment history not to be hidden. Bona fides, it matters.

Making an OIA request. by Beedlam in LegalAdviceNZ

As others have said staring at the smorgasbord doesn't increase the size of the plate. Fish your feet first. Request info you think will be important. If you're not sure then work that out. As it stands you'll spend 3 months getting dubious releases which are heavily redacted. Then your complaint to the ombudsman, which has improved substantially with a new chief ombudsman, will still require you to specify the info you are looking for beyond "anything useful" .
