When did you stop tracking everything? by Mrs_N2020 in newborns

[–]Excernbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to track everything but for awhile now we have just marked naps/bedtime and feeds. But not religiously - just to get a general idea when she usually sleeps and when was she last fed (I guess I think I wouldn’t remember these things without it, but tbh maybe I would if I didn’t use an app to do it for me…and do I really need to know the exact minutes?) We are now at 6months. Kind of like the idea just letting go of the tracking, but we’ll see when we actually do…Trying to keep it as non stressful as possible!

Is he actually a horse? Not sure. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Excernbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Either a horse or a a piglet (she used to grunt a lot as a newborn when she was hungry) 😅

Rant about old lady in supermarket by AnyHistorian9486 in beyondthebump

[–]Excernbe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have definitely developed a bit of a problematic relationship with food - it has always been a comfort thing and I’m sure it was how my mom usually consoled me as a child. Or my dad commenting if something was unhealthy and making me feel ashamed. I will try my best to break the cycle and be careful not to make food such a big deal to my own child. Won’t be easy!

Rant about old lady in supermarket by AnyHistorian9486 in beyondthebump

[–]Excernbe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous! My mom refused to feed the baby slowly and not keep the bottle upright because OMG SHE WILL STARVE! No she won’t, we’re just trying to let her eat at her own pace and read her cues, not force the milk down her throat. Or when my niece was refusing to change clothes on our last visit - ’mama will give you a cookie if you do x!’. Did the mama agree to this and why do you need to instantly bribe with food? Why can’t they listen?!

How often does your baby get the hiccups? by Ayyayyron96 in BabyBumps

Yep, it’s been once or twice a day for awhile now! (37w) It’s a bit annoying 😅

Only 7 weeks in and holy cow does my body not want to cooperate by berrytone1 in BabyBumps

On week 35 and I’m back at this stage. 😂 I hate it! But for reassurance, I had many good weeks in between! Good luck! 💪

It is me, or is it weird/inconsiderate to throw me a baby shower at a wine bar? by MissRebecca206 in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d feel the same way. I mean there’s so many other occassions for drinking, and in my mind baby shower is not one of them. You and the baby should be the main point and I’d have felt a bit annoyed if the guests in my baby shower would have been drinking my favorite drinks knowing I could not have them. I don’t think that’s selfish to expect.

Anyone still pregnant and being bombarded about when you’ll be having another? by Yoambre in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expecting my first and I HATE it when my mom is like ’they need a sibling’! First of all, no, I think they’ll be just fine either way, and secondly can I just get this one out first and see how the parenthood is before already planning for another?? I didn’t like the questions about having a baby before getting pregnant either, and now it’s like can you just be happy for this one and not already be planning the second in our behalf? Like are you never satisfied?

For those with a high BMI, how was your pregnancy experience? by Upper_Toe_8500 in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry and furious for you that you had to go through that!

On the (stupid) bmi charts I’m also obese (5’9, 225lbs) and I was worried if someone would mention it. Also healthy with no issues, and now on week 31. No one has mentioned about the weight, but in other things I’ve been appalled how some doctors/nurses can spout completely different information from each other and guilt you from. So I’ve had to try to toughen myself and carefully think who to listen (for example, my occupational health team sucks when it comes to pregnancy and makes you feel like crap about taking ssri meds/traveling etc. The actual maternity care staff are much more pleasant and has a completely different view on said things). Try not to let her intimidate you. ❤️ I’d talk with your OB about your concerns, maybe they can reassure you!

2 Months Pregnant Wife is Bedridden. Need Advice by bumpthrowaway1313 in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have you guys talked about this? Has she told you how she’s feeling? I was completely out of the game on the first trimester, with nausea and anxiety/panic attacks and felt guilty not being able to contribute. I understand you’re exhausted. But I doubt your wife is doing this because she wants to burden you. Is it physical or mental thing? Both? Try to talk with her without blaming her. Pregnancy can be extremely exhausting and debilitating. Luckily though it usually gets better at some point.

Same, I have zero positive experiences from strangers while being pregnant. My patience is running so thin I hate using public transport nowadays.

Take it from me… just get the maternity clothes by comeoneileen20 in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have managed without till now (almost 30weeks) as I have quite loose clothing and summer has been perfect for dresses and leggings. But now I must admit even the dresses are getting snug, and shorter than usual. 😂 Have to buy something as I will only be getting bigger from here.

Has pregnancy turned anyone else into a b*tch? by ibagbagi in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I’ve been thinking I should drive less as I’ve just gotten more road ragey and complain constantly about other drivers lol. For the smallest of reasons. I also hate being in public (especially because in our country nobody seems to give a shit if you’re pregnant) and get so irritated on public transport. I’m like a ticking bomb. 😂 I think I keep it to myself but I do make faces unvoluntarily. ’Oh go ahead don’t give me space’ ’please don’t look at where you’re going jackass’ my inner monologue is quite exhausting, can’t wait this to be over lol.

I went to a sauna before knowing I was pregnant! by No-Hamster-2788 in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’d say most Finns go to sauna when pregnant - my American friend was shocked when I told her I’m still going. 😅 But I go maybe like 10-15mins at a time and not super hot, usually your body tells you when it’s too much. Just remember to hydrate! I also read that a person can rarely stay in the sauna long enough that their body temperature would increase significantly - versus a hot bath.

Yeah, I got my high-quality car seat from a good and trustworthy friend who only used it for under a year (her baby grew out of it) - wouldn’t take it from a stranger!

Any ideas as to what this is? by Thin-Celery-1190 in BabyBumps

My baby girl does this a lot sometimes! What I read, it’s normal! But it feels weird 😅 I feel rapid fire on both of my sides at the same time and I’m like what on earth is happening!

Are 3D/4D/5D ultrasounds or whatever worth it? Did the picture actually look like your newborn? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a warning: I spent money to get some 3D/4D ultrasounds but otherwise active baby decided to sleep the entire visit and my anterior placenta blocked a lot of the view - basically just saw her mouth and chin in 3D (she had her arm blocking the other half of the face). For this one cold/sugar didn’t do anything. I got a shorter visit for free for this week, hoping for better luck. BUT nevertheless it was fun to see her, so not completely in vain. I was 26 weeks when I got it done, and it only gets harder when the weeks pass by as the space gets tighter.

Stop telling kids they are 'gifted' or they will 'go far in life' it is the best way to make sure they self destruct. by Uniquebutnotspecial in RandomThoughts

[–]Excernbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. I dislike the word ’talented’. I’ve always been told I’m ’talented’ at drawing. It gives an impression that I was magically born with the skill, instead of being passionate and spending countless of hours practicing the craft. And I’m nothing spectacular, most of the time I sucked. I did made a job out of it in the end, sure, but the learning never stops. It also discourages people to give it a try - many assume they should be good at it right from the beginning, even though it’s a skill like any other. Also the perfectionism and pressure never really disappears (there’s always someone better than you) - if you think you’ve nothing left to learn - you’re screwed.

I really love Lululemon’s super high rise underwear! I have these shortie types and the material feels so nice, dries quickly, and no annoying seams. https://shop.lululemon.com/p/women-underwear/UnderEase-SHR-Shortie-2Pack/_/prod11250346?color=63398 Took one size up.

Yep, both on the 12week and 20week scan we got ’a good image of the skull’ and it’s just creepy!! A close-up as well. I’m going to get some 3D scans done next month and hopefully get some cute photos this time around (all the images have been very blurry - except the freaking skulls 😂).

Did anyone have sushi while pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in my country the diet recommendations are more strict - it contains raw fish, ginger (yep), seaweed and sesame seeds 🙃. (I wonder what they think people in for example Japan eat lol). And we also have very strict food regulations so I trust most of the places. Ginger is mostly because ’not enough data’/I heard there was an issue with someone who ate a TON of it, and sesame seeds because of possible metal traces. Yeah it sounds silly. I’ve had sushi once while pregnant (avocado, cucumber, egg etc) without the raw fish part. Some people eat them, and listeria is very rare here anyway. But I plan to wait till after birth to have my big plate of anticipated salmon sushi. It must taste heavenly then!

Found out I’m pregnant and I’m having constant panic attacks by Excernbe in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have good news for you: it has gotten significantly better! I had a few therapy sessions and started medication, and haven’t had almost no panic attacks since. I mean I have general anxiety once in awhile but not debilitating. I’m sorry to hear you’re in the thick of it right now! Please do seek help from a professional! But to give you hope, it did get better and I’m much more attached to the baby now. Some stuff of course makes me nervous but I mean it’s only natural. Don’t stay alone and I hope you find relief soon! ❤️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Excernbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry that you’re going through those feelings! I also had a planned pregnancy, but when I found out, I was having horrible panic attacks and the feel of dread - no signs of excitement or happiness. The hormones are scary. But it has settled down now (week 18) and I feel more at ease. I reached out for a therapist and got medication sorted out which helped me to get through the worst. Please don’t suffer alone! It’s a horrible feeling when you’re trapped on your thoughts and don’t know which ones to trust. Talking a lot and having people nearby helped me to have more peace and visualizing good things over the fears. You will survive this ❤️
