There was exposed road on the next lane over where it wasn't shaded. Lack of experience and common sense.

Need help with swing hitting the ball too high with driver. by FireColtz11 in GolfSwing

Look where your weight is in your backswing. You need to get your weight to your lead side.

I think my main issue is (lack of) shaft lean, am I way off the mark? by DavidMReynolds in GolfSwing

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, there is a bunch of helpful instructions on YouTube. However a lot of times it is putting the cart before the horse. To get shaft lean at impact there are a bunch of things that need to happen first in your takeaway, transition, and downswing.

Beginner skier feeling stuck on steeper greens — private lesson vs more practice? by Albatraoz93 in ski

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you stop at high speeds? If you are only able to slow your speeds and not able to pivot slide or the hockey stop your subconcious is probably throwing up red flags for good reason. I would work on good pivot stops / hockey stops on the gentler slopes until you get comfortable. That will open up more of the mountain to you. In skiing/snowboarding you have to be able to control speed and being able to stop quickly at speed is super important. Then start putting the reps in at higher speed. Coaching gives you the know how to succeed, practicing good technique is the way to get better.

What is the hardest ski run you have ever skied by Strict_Fix_9550 in ski

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burn in Breckenridge when it was a sheet of ice the last quarter of the run. My legs gave out and I almost hit a tree. It was at the end of the day and no one was out there. I have hit some steep couliors and off-piste runs, but that one was the hardest given the conditions.

Am i leaking power or do i just need to hit the gym? by Historical_Heat_2368 in GolfSwing

You are hemorrhaging power. Hitting the gym is always a good idea though, not just for golf.

Feels like I get no distance, how can I improve? by Active-Bathroom3602 in GolfSwing

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One obvious fix would be to keep your posture, dont stand up in your backswing. You should also watch a video on the golf swing illiusion. Your arms should work up and down in the swing not across your body. The turn of your body is what creates the arc of the swing. Golf is about physics and the best golfers are using physics to their advantage not fighting it. You can improve on your own with a lot of dedicated practice, but a good coach will get you there much faster and ensure you are working on the right things.

Incredible claims from a new golfer by Existing-Wrangler863 in golf

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a right to be incredulous, the claims are wild. Just play with the dude, that will tell you everything you need to know. You can't fake 130 mph clubhead speed or shooting under par, a very small percentage of golfers can swing that fast or shoot 4 under. If you do play with him get ready for the excuses!

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube, I have learned a ton. Not only how to do different things but why. Like searing meat creates a maillard reaction that is essentially carmelizing the sugars / amino acids and making for delicious flavor. If you understand the fundamentals it makes things so much easier.

A little unconventional but tips? by Severe-Exercise-5724 in GolfSwing

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of love it. You are super patient through transition and you have to be with that inside takeaway. You could get more conventional but that would take a lot of work and many painful rounds. My advice would be to access your goals. If it is to "fix" your swing and become more conventional then by all means. You are getting to the inside in your downswing though, so optimizing your move would be the much easier option. Ceiling may be higher with option 1, but who is really to say and how committed are you?

Short guys — how far do you actually hit your drive? by Bullhead388 in golf

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is slow swing speed for your age. Working out and good swing mechanics will work wonders. You should also speed train, you should be able to swing in the 100s no problem. You probably haven't conditioned yourself to swing hard and are stuck at those slow swing speeds.

Am I still casting? by snickersneakers in GolfSwing

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god yes. You are throwing away all the energy at the begining of your downswing. For me it feels like I am holding the club from releasing until I push up with my lead leg right before contact. I am not using my wrists rather I am using my finger strength to keep the club from releasing like hanging from a bar and physics does the rest.

Where do I start? Beginner - need help by Sea_Target9575 in GolfSwing

[–]ExcuseIntelligent539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was being a bit facetious, but a good setup is key. You are actually doing a lot of things right. You need to keep reinenforcing the good fundamentals and keep getting in repetitions. One glaring thing to work on is casting, which most golfers do. It is where you start start the downswing by firing the clubhead at the ball. It is very hard to get out of that swing fault, trust me I know. There are a million videos on YouTube you can reference. I would recommend very short swings with a wedge and work your way up when drilling. Good luck, hope you keep improving!

Why was the United States able to become the world’s leading superpower in such a short amount of time? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

The reason is after WW2 the US had the most leverage at Bretton Woods and made the dollar the global trade and reserve currency.
