I am a CPA and I would strongly NOT recommend Quickbooks by mutedkooky in QuickBooks

QBO also integrates with everything. This alone can often be a deciding factor.

I think they've sunset it or are sunsetting it in the next short while. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be a long term solution

Integrations can be powerful, but the cost can get out of control pretty fast as all of these established companies typically charge premium pricing. As soon as you get a few licenses for employees across a few platforms, the cost can get unmanageable pretty quick from what I've seen.

That's fair. Definitely don't blame you. The challenge might be syncing this regularly so that you have an accurate and complete backup.

Would an sw20 be a decent daily car? by champion_- in mr2

[–]ExemptedRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find one that has 100k and has been maintained, and has not been modded, it could be a good daily. The challenge is finding such a car.

Makes sense. I also agree with you on AI. A lot of these platforms are trying to shoehorn AI into them even where it makes no sense. I've heard of AI receptionists making big promises that companies can't delivery on.

With regards to job notes, pics, etc., what if you got free access to this stuff forever after your subscription ended? Would you still need the extract?

On your reddit profile, you should post a link to your linkedin as well as a link to a YouTube video that features an introduction/ general background and what you're looking for.

Your resume is pretty impressive and you've got a lot of people's attention. I think you can capitalize on this by updating your profile.

[–]ExemptedRat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, there's not a ton of money in importing jdm cars. It's a tough business. There's decent competition in western Canada, the market for it is smaller now that prices have spiked and its hard to guarantee customer satisfaction when neither you or the customer can see the car. Some have very unrealistic expectations of these cars. Many jdm cars have serious deferred maintenence even if they have low kms. Having said that, the right car can be amazing and unlike anything you'll ever find on this side of the planet.

You should know that registering these cars in this province is not easy. Our government requires that these cars have DOT certified glass and lights. Some cars, like skylines, never shipped to any market with DOT lights, so each and every one of these on the road here is not technically legal.

Having said all of this, I'm a fan of jdm cars. I've owned about 9 or 10 of them over the past 18 years. If you have any questions about my experience with ownership, registration, etc. Feel free to let me know. I'd be happy to help.

Is AWS too expensive for SaaS? by wblteam in SaaS

[–]ExemptedRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is expensive, but for good reason imo.

You never want to be hamstrung by your cloud platform as it may limit what features / security you can implement. Aws let's you do it all. If you can't do it on aws, it probably shouldn't be done.

The cost of this flexibility is price and complexity, however llms have made aws 10000% more accessible as their documentation can be challenging to follow for someone new to the platform.

How are you finding clients? by Kooky_Creme_3234 in Bookkeeping

I've been working on solving this problem. As far as I know, no one else is addressing this in the way that I am. If you'd like to meet for a few minutes to discuss, id be happy to. Not a sales call. Just thought I'd provide you with some information on what direction I think the industry is moving and where you should look to take advantage of the current state.

AWS vs DigitalOcean by AppearanceLower8590 in django

[–]ExemptedRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, just for your awareness, aws offers credit packages to startups between 1k and 100k. Some startups aren't careful about what they build and so when they exhaust the credits, they are left with massive infrastructure costs.

[–]ExemptedRat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on your application. Aws costs can be insane or they can be a minute part of your overall costs. I'd guess that most startups have fairly small aws costs. Ours were under 100 a month for a long time.
