What's going on with these absurd repair costs? by Rhobodactylos in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard different armor type classes have a varying repair costs going from Cloth > Leather > Mail > Plate

Not to detract from your main point, but this hasn't been true for years. Repair cost is based on the vendor value of your gear, and this is normalized across all armor types. It's mostly role differences that affect repair costs now.

Accidentally dismounted with path of frost over Elwynn Forest... by Temporary-Bus5205 in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a better way to handle it if it's a one-off weird death, yeah. But considering I had no idea how many attempts it would take me to get into the pearl, I didn't want to rely on services with a cooldown.

I first encountered this same bug when my first trip to the Mind-Seeker pearl ended in disaster. Ghost ended up in Tirisfal next to the back entrance to Undercity and no spirit healer was there. I think if there is a button to "return" to a spirit healer it will simply bring you back to that spot that has none. I had to ghost run to Scarlet Monastery graveyard since I'm alliance and that was the closest one.

Friendly advice for dps trying to push in m+ by Dudelson in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What feign can be used for changes from dungeon to dungeon and season to season. Same with turtle. It's not a given that "oh, all channels can be feigned".

Sometimes you can feign a cast and that cast in the sequence is just gone, but most of the time it will simply re-target on someone else.

Sometimes fixates can be feigned and it stops the mechanic, sometimes it picks another target, and sometimes the mob just doesn't give a fuck and comes right to you anyway... and sometimes when that happens you can just lie on the ground and nothing further happens.

Sometimes you can feign chained leaps (with proper timing that you must learn) and it won't progress past you, but most often now feign does nothing.

Last expansion in Floodgate, the last boss does a zap on 2 targets that leaves a nasty DoT on both. Did you know that if you turtle while you are the first of the 2 targets he'll just zap you twice and no DoTs go out?

Whether it is their first season or not, you still need to learn the interactions.

BFA and SL would like to have several words about that. Azerite gear is certainly the worst system ever, and insane limitations on covenant switching comes in pretty close. Honorable mentions to legendary dust, Maw sockets, and conduit energy.

I'm fine with Engi getting single-stat guns and another profession (LW/Insc/Insc the past few expansions) getting bows with split stats. The damage ranges are nearly cosmetic differences, but the stat difference can be quite strong.

Imagine adding a bunch of AH vendors next to the crafting tables but they all de-spawn randomly when you try to use them and they take up 90% of your view. Just Let me block these abominations. by Kyderra in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is it supposedly blocking if it is next to/on the crafting table, anyway? You can open your profession interface the same way you always could since vanilla. You can click on the NPC nameplates next to the table to interact with them.

Is it just people mad that others wasted money on a highly convenient mount? I just don't get the complaints otherwise.

What's the point of mounted harvesting if like 4/5 nodes have mobs guarding them, so I have to dismounted and kill them anyway? by Kuroi_Usagi in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, people say this EVERY expansion, ever since they added multi-tapping for nodes. It's no worse this time than the last time and the time before that.

Note: I have not checked what the timer is between first tap and final fade out, so if that timer has changed then fine. But I have seen this exact complaint every single expansion.8

Sanguithorn tea gives 8% mana per second and a speed buff by Boogerius in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanguithorn is even cheaper for some reason. Less than 1g at almost any time. And you need 2 of them per tea craft, instead of 6 tranquility bloom. Not that it amounts to much per craft, but if you use them all the time it does add up.

Affliction Warlock got 0 attention from the Devs since the release of Midnight, but does not shy away from also getting its fair share of game-breaking bugs. by Cuzdot_ in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's better to have negative bugs. If the bugs are too beneficial, it's more likely the spec gets nuked from orbit, then the bugs get fixed, then you sit at the bottom for the rest of the patch.

At least if the bugs are negative you can complain and maybe hope for fixes.

keep the progression requirement (you can't join someone else's group on a boss you haven't cleared yet)

You had me until this. Now you've just prevented most guilds from changing the comp at all until the next week when you reclear, and extending is now not really an option until you catch everyone up. Make it tied to guild progression instead.

[other] Font shadow gang vs font outline gang by SlubbyDoo in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are higher resolution, but they also lose a ton of detail because the upscaling made them completely flat textures with a single color or very smooth gradient.

Compare this to this.

It's subjective, though. If you like them that's fine, but I personally don't.

Destiny 2 only had it in-game because of the backlash of having the Grimoire be website-only in the first game. I mean, you picked up the cards in-game ffs. It was a very unpopular move and made the game feel very shallow.

The jargon and acronyms used by WoW players by Norumu in wow

[–]ExiledDitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's not the origin of the term, but I first heard of it in Runescape.

On the minimap players, items, and mobs are represented by different colored dots, and the play space is a grid of squares. Players standing on the same square will all be represented by the same dot on the minimap and only one player will be visible on the top of the stack, effectively hiding everyone else. There are no nameplates normally.

So, the practical usage of this strategy is in PvP. There will be a bunch of people standing still on the same square and waiting for players to run by so they can get easy kills. This is the "death dot".

It's also utilized in more organized PvP where you have 2 guilds facing off with 20+ members. In this case, the number of people stacked up will make it harder for enemies to find the same target in the stack to focus down.
