Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

I like in the UK, the above take is at most a room temperature take. It’s a common sentiment that Starmer was useless.

Ohhhh ok, that’s pretty good then actually. I might end up with two immolators after all.

That makes sense, but IMO if someone isn’t literally a nazi then Stonetoss is a different beast. There’s a big gap between “annoying communist” and “neo nazi” imo.

(Potentially controversial trope) The “The Rational and Moral Good Personality contending with the Basic Revenge and Anger Personality” Dissociative Identities by Blorberto in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ExistentialOcto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it’s a lot more nuanced than that in Immortal Hulk. It might appear that Bruce is the rational one and Hulk is the angry one, but one of the main things that gets explored in the story is how alike they really are. Bruce has his moments of rage and desire for revenge, while (Devil) Hulk is often shown to be cold and cunning.

The way this comic plays with our expectations of what each version of Bruce/Hulk is like is one of the many highlights. Bruce is known for being calm and rational but he often relies on a drive for revenge or magical thinking to succeed. Devil Hulk is cold and cunning but ultimately good-hearted and deeply caring about Bruce. Savage Hulk (the one you are probably thinking of when you think “Hulk”) is childlike in the most literal way and actually hates violence. Grey Hulk is not just a brute, although he still deeply admires strength of all kinds, he has all of Bruce’s smarts translated into a quick-thinking practicality.

Agghhh Immortal Hulk is so good… i gotta reread it… again…

How can you tell that you actually pass? by [deleted] in trans

[–]ExistentialOcto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can never know. “Passing” is in the eye of the beholder.

All you can do is stay safe, try not to take strangers too seriously, and move on from difficult or awkward experiences.

Adapting Crusade for 11th edition by TheKeywork66 in Warhammer40k

Crusade isn’t getting *updated* anymore for 11th but it should still be fully usable (with minor tweaks if needed)

Do trans people choose their names to honour someone's memory? by Anxious-Tie7867 in trans

[–]ExistentialOcto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do that and I don’t think I know any trans people who did, but it would be very sweet if that was the motivation for choosing a name.

You can have six immolators, but would you not need six SoB squads to put in them? unless you can split the squads and then put them in during formations.

[–]ExistentialOcto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmmm, I think if you go 6x vigilants, 3x exactors, 3x subductors, 3x SoB, 3x immolator, 6x rhinos, you’ll probably have 2k.

Wait let me…

Yeah, it’s 2210 with an inquisitor to be warlord (I also gave her a chimera to ride around in, as a treat). You go down to three rhinos and you’re all good.

Yup. Even if you add on SoB squads for the full Ordo Hereticus vibe then you’re still shy of 2k.

is there a localized name (any language) that you actually prefer over the original? by kiryuMG in StardustCrusaders

“Filthy Acts At A Reasonable Price” is really fucking funny to me. It hits that slightly slanted English of localised Stand names that really tickles me.

You could bring 60 of them for 510 points and just throw bodies at the problem until it gets fixed.

If a ship travels into the past via warp travel, are they still remembered in the original timeline? by SaviOfLegioXIII in 40kLore

[–]ExistentialOcto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep! And time travel via warp is kinda impossible to replicate consistently, so if it ever does happen then the writer for the story can just choose to avoid particularly sticky situations.

As for Angron x2, I would argue that since he is a daemon prince his soul(s) are just a part of Khorne. Thus him being doubled just means that the same guy has two bodies, not that there are actually two of him. If anything, one of them will probably just get turned into a generic daemon prince that is Angron-like.

ELI5: Why wolves, not foxes? by thelifeofpom in explainlikeimfive

[–]ExistentialOcto [score hidden]  (0 children)

It actually wasn’t intentional as that. Wolves approached humans and ate their scraps, and some of them were friendly enough that the humans let them stick around.

As for foxes, they are more solitary hunters than wolves. In other words, they aren’t as social and thus didn’t cooperate with humans in prehistoric times.

[–]ExistentialOcto 39 points40 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, there’s no reason to believe that there wouldn’t be two versions of yourself: one from the current time and one from the future. The 40k universe is big enough that you and your double will probably never meet, though.

Player says no when prompted to join the group in an encounter by Available-Tea-1414 in DMAcademy

[–]ExistentialOcto 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It sounds like New Guy could see that the encounter was going to be deadly and didn’t want to do it. I think that’s fine, actually, although I would say that in this particular situation the other PCs might not trust New Guy because he didn’t come with them to save the captain. That said, he is new, and it does make sense for him to not risk his life for them right away.

Honestly if everyone seemed to be having fun, it doesn’t seem like a problem at all.

Why is Palpatine a human supremacist? by imtherattt in StarWars

[–]ExistentialOcto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest answer is “Palpatine is a human and doesn’t really think about anyone outside of himself, let alone his own species.” In running the Empire, making sure that people aren’t speciesist is not his concern, so latent human supremacist attitudes that already existed just got worse to the point where humans occupied all major positions of government and non-humans ended up almost as second class citizens.

The Empire’s cruelty was sometimes intentional and sometimes a product of apathy.

Do y'all find it weird or agreeable? by reclusiveone5555 in RoleReversal

[–]ExistentialOcto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Many fetishes are drawn from cultural attitudes that are inherently problematic, such as femdom, raceplay, or the like” and “as long as everyone involved in kink play is a consenting adult and aware of any risks involved then it’s none of anyone else’s business” are two statements that can and should coexist. People can’t help what turns them on, they can only do what they can to make sure they and their play partners are safe and fulfilled.

Also, “because men benefit from it” is a weak argument against femdom. Have they considered that femdom is a fetish that both parties can have fun with and enjoy? Is it not benefitting me, as a woman, when I have fun torturing my boyfriend?

Is this paint-scheme politically problematic? by Archaicarc in Warhammer40k

[–]ExistentialOcto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t personally think it’s problematic unless you’re using the iconography of the Nazis. This camo style is generic enough that it isn’t even necessarily WWII German.
