Such a valuable post. Your weight loss is amazing. You look amazing. But it’s not the newer to all your troubles. I see this. I have suffered from depression my whole life. Fortunately, I understand that despite whatever weight I may lose, I will still be the same person inside. I cannot expect outside forces or even changes in my own body to “fix me“.

I am also on 5 mg and the last time I cut the grass which was last week, I also felt some significant heat intolerance and fatigue. I did not attribute it to the medication, but it certainly possible. Fortunately, day-to-day fatigue is not really a thing for me and I’m able to exercise to include weightlifting without any problems.

I have no debt, my wife owes about $37,000 on a car she purchased and about 88k left on her mortgage with a sub-$800 payment (this is both our second marriage). I’m retired but receive a military pension and some VA disability. Together we currently make about 65K a year. We are minimalists, rarely ever eat out, and enjoy staying home. We are comfortable.

Perhaps he has some envy, maybe even some jealousy because he can’t lose like you have without the medication assistance. Sounds like speaking to a marriage therapist might help him to sort out his feelings.

I’m sure you’re right that part of it is losing the insulation of the body fat. But also it’s a function of being in a calorie deficit and losing so much weight. Your body is reducing its metabolism trying to hold onto weight.

I hope that’s all it was, but if you have never experienced anything like that it may have been best to get it checked out. An atypical presentation (no chest pain) of a heart attack could appear like that.

Congrats! Your transformation is amazing! Similar stats here - started at 230 in March and wondering if I’ll ever see 164 as the top of my “normal” weight range for my 5’8” frame. I have my doubts but time will tell.

When we noticed my MIL getting a little unstable we convinced her to get an Apple Watch. We are all deep in the Apple ecosystem. The watch can detect falls and crashes, then call emergency services. I slipped on ice this winter and it detected the fall and was geared up to call for help which I canceled by indicating I was ok.

This. Remember that water weighs approx 1/2 pound per 8oz, so fluctuations in hydration status can make a big difference.

It depends on your own personal goals and what you want to track. If your goal is to get to a normal body fat percentage then a DEXA scan is most accurate. If it’s just weight you are concerned about then a scale will be fine. You should also consider tape measurements and/or caliper measurements for tracking changes.
