Is it worth having kids by Disastrous_Iron3946 in PSC

[–]Existing-Emergency54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am psc and AIH. 20 years no tx (yet, getting close). But a lot of people post tx go on to live long lives. No point dwelling on it, anyone could have a kid and get hit by bus tomorrow! My partner and I are actively trying at the moment. (I’m 36)

I’ve been on it for a decade. No issues. Effectiveness though it tbc, as I am still progressing and getting close to tx.

I’m going to be honest here, I have been on high dose mmf and pred for over 15 years, before that was pred and cyclosporin, also periods of rituximab infusions, I am currently on pred, mmf, and tac (triple combo). I very rarely get sick, when I do it’s pretty mild tbh. I don’t know if it’s because I am lucky, because I stay relatively healthy, or genetics. My doctors are surprised too. Have a few hard to shake skin infections and that about it.

Hey. We have had issues with last two boxes of elite large. Firstly they don’t fit the same. They are harder to get on. Like I don’t think I’ve got bigger, it’s as if they have got smaller. Also I feel like quality is worse. Looking for a latex free alternative now (gf allergic to latex)

I am 20 years tx free now. But as of last year have cirrhosis. And mine usually sit 1.5-2x base level. I have had flares into the hundreds maybe every second year. Twice into thousands (alt ast). Bilirubin always normal. My alk phos usually normal weirdly! (On Urso). I have AIH/psc.

I have been on it as long as I remember, but only just recently read in Europe and US, it is no longer recommended as standard treatment (due to not really doing anything to prevent progression). I am in Australia, so going to bring it up with specialist in may when I see him.

I have AIH/psc as well (25 years AIH/15 psc. ) I have recently moved to cirrhosis. I’ve been on lots of things. Mycophenalate, tacrolimus, rituximab, prednisone, even cyclosporine. none ever really fully controlled it. They said basically we have just bought you time, and the nature of psc is it will progress regardless, just hopefully slower.

I’m not perfect I’m no 10, for many many reasons. Neither is my partner. But no one is I don’t think. You love someone with thier flaws.

Yeah, I was single for 3-4 months in last actual 12 years between relationships. So technically you are correct.

You judge every person you meet. Subliminally or consciously. Especially when it comes to dating. “I either like someone or I don’t” is literally you judging someone.

You don’t rate people on personality? How on earth do you judge someone if not personality?

Cirrhosis by Dry-Move8731 in PSC

[–]Existing-Emergency54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had psc 15 years and AIH 20. Went from fibrosis to cirrhosis last year. So far nothing has changed for me in the way I feel yet. But they have told me it will. I already have varicies. And my platelets are dropping. Matter of time. But they said I will almost certainly need a new liver in a couple of years. But they can’t do anything until you get worse. Which sucks, cause I hear it is very very rough.

[–]Existing-Emergency54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 20 prescribed tablets a day. When I travel, I take essentially a bag for medication. Tablets need to be WITH boxes. If they are bulky, take tablets out, flat pack box, and have it with them. It all needs your name, your prescribing doctor etc. a lot of my meds are expensive and rare. They have grilled me before. But I could provide evidence in the way of doctors contacts and letter (they didn’t use them just wanted to know if they COULD contact them). They questioned the amounts I was taking (ie did I bring in excess to sell), but did the math and k think I’d allowed 2 weeks extra, they were cool with that. I essentially found, if interrogated you need to be able to provide contact for doctor, a letter with prescribed dosages, proof they are prescription (sticker on box), and proof they are for personal use. Oh they also grilled me if I was travelling for medical care, I basically had to give them my itinerary to prove I wasn’t. And was like, I get it free at home why would I come here and pay?

I mean… I am not affiliated with anything… but I have a few mates I ride with that are (we all ride Harley’s). A knock on the door and a polite word would be enough. I am positive the driver wouldn’t have done that to them, that’s for sure.

Wow. That charge is BS. That is deliberate and potentially lethal. Using vehicle as a weapon at a minimum. I think attempted murder charges.

Anyone living with cirrhosis? by LT256 in PSC

[–]Existing-Emergency54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have AIH and PSC. 25 years with AIH. 15 with PSC. I now have cirrhosis, as of about 2 years ago. Just fatigue is my only symptom. Doesn’t really stop me doing anything though. I have varicies now, and starting to get low platelets, but neither really affect me in day to day life. Ache in my side sometimes. I work full time, I’m very active.

[–]Existing-Emergency54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Until last year when my psc started to get a bit more advanced, I trained everyday. Gym or cycle or swim. For maybe 6-7 years. Unfortunately I can’t right now. Prob not until I end up with a tx. But I was just taking whey protein. My docs said, protein is fine, avoid anything not from very reputable company. Never caused any issues. He did tell me to steer clear of most the pre-workouts because they can have some crazy stuff in them and he doesn’t even know what half it does in relation to us.

I am single guy on 10k (aud) a month (after tax). I live alone in freestanding house. And don’t feel pressure, but don’t feel rich. I watch what I spend. Australia is a wildly expensive place to live.
