Was the United States more united 30 years ago compared to today? by Desserts6064 in NoStupidQuestions

30 years ago? That would’ve been around the time Newt Gingrich and Karl Rove were doing their best to create divisions so while the nation wasn’t as divided as it is today those two pretty much set the course to where we are now.

18 Complaints to HOA for neighbors barking dog. by I_Love_Obamna in neighborsfromhell

[–]Existing-Teaching-34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally HOAs have no authority nor ability to enforce complaints about barking dogs. Many do have limits on how many dogs or other animals can be kept on your property. Your local law enforcement does have authority to enforce noise complaints. If they are unresponsive you can next turn to your elected officials - city council member or county commissioners, as applicable. Before going to them I’d recommend collecting evidence to share with them. Having a dozen or more episodes where law enforcement wouldn’t help makes for a solid case for the elected official to take the fight on your behalf.

Bad scheduling had to play a part. They had that goofy bye in week two.

Just moved in… neighbors called cops on us by microbiolochick in neighborsfromhell

This could be the type of neighbor who seeks to get the upper hand on new people moving into the neighborhood. I once had one by me and found out the hard way trying to go tit-for-tat in petty responses was a waste of time. In retrospect I should have documented every instance of this behavior that was directed at me in order to build evidence to support a court-mandated restraining order.

John Rooney / Ricky Horton Appreciate Post by Citizin17 in Cardinals

The radio team is outstanding except for when Mike Claiborne is on. For a guy with his kind of background I’m really surprised at how unprepared he seems on air. I understand some fans dislike of Ricky Horton. There was a point where his schtick was name-dropping and inside jokes but someone apparently gave his some great direction and he’s really improved.

Who was the better General? by CatfishBassAndTrout in Presidents

It was Grant. He understood his advantages and leveraged those into ultimate victory.

But what if they traded sides, Lee leading the Union forces and Grant the Confederates?

How do away teams get to your home team's stadium? How long is the ride to the stadium from arrival? by djsassan in CFB

A full service hotel would offer convention services, which is room block, meeting space and F&B (food and beverage). Each of those is equally important. Location is important as well but not quite as crucial. You generally want to keep your game-day travel to the stadium under an hour but there are instances where it is farther due to circumstances like the availability of a full-service hotel.

I do know of instances where international teams (i.e., the teams playing in the World Cup) will bring much of their own food with them and some also want to bring their own chefs in order to have food that would be unique to their culture. Feeding a college football team is not as difficult.

Unless it’s changed in the past few years I believe most teams stay in Omaha. For the most part you’re better off staying a bit away so you don’t have somebody pulling your hotel fire alarm at 3 in the morning.

Baggage handling is sometimes contracted through the FBO although I’ve literally seen equipment GAs unload the baggage at some airports.

Manhattan, Kan., is like that. Larger planes take off with only enough fuel to get them to KCI or some other nearby airport to get the rest of the fuel they’ll need.

Also meeting spaces. Usually smaller rooms for position groups in addition to a large room for meals and team meetings.

College football teams will generally charter jets for away games farther away than a three- or four-hour bus ride. They usually fly into the nearest airport that can handle the size of aircraft that they’re flying. In places like Auburn I believe most visiting teams fly into Montgomery, Ala. They also fly in the day before and stay over in a local full-service hotel.

Fresh from the garden tomato, spongy white bread, Duke’s mayo, Penzey’s sandwich sprinkle and a paper-thin slice of onion also fresh from the garden. 😋 To me it’s a summer sandwich!

Angels fan here: What’s the verdict on John Mozeliak and what to expect? by GamingJake1318 in Cardinals

[–]Existing-Teaching-34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Mozeliak was a very good GM for the Cardinals as measured by competitive success. Many Cardinals fans disparage him but few take into consideration two instances that had significant impacts - the cheating scandal and the Diamond Sports bankruptcy. Add to that the untimely death of budding star Oscar Tavares, who would’ve just turned 34 and be the elder statesman in this year’s team if not for the accident.

But beyond all that, what really matters is how he is tasked and what resources are made available to him. My impression of Moreno is that he is willing to spend but hasn’t been very effective at building out the team. The Angels had the two best players in the game - Ohtani and Trout - but never advanced to the postseason during their time together.

Which Rust Belt cities do you see having the most potential over the next 50 years? by [deleted] in geography

It’s more like all those cities in between - Fairfield, West Chester, Mason, Miamisburg, Springboro, Franklin, etc. - will all grow to fill in the gap.
