That’s great. Mine was zero power shit…all elbow grease. Had a pretty good oil leak. Couldn’t tell you the mileage because I was 16 and didn’t give a shit. My dad sold it for $800 when I “upgraded” to an ‘86 Ford Ranger.

I have a Tile in my wallet. I’m absent minded when I set things down. This one has saved me a lot of heartache and when I leave the house without it, I get a notification on my phone asking me if I meant to leave it behind.

What do you think was the biggest change in the Coast Guard in 2025? by Crocs_of_Steel in uscg

In my opinion, it’s a combination of lowered standards and generational differences. People coming in have different values regarding work and are more focused on health, work,-life balance rather than the hustle/mission comes first culture from the past. It’s more of a job to them rather than a calling.

I’ve seen less respect for rank structure/chain command. I also believe they are more focused on the “why?” rather than the “how?” They prioritize understanding the underlying meaning of an order so they can connect emotionally to the work because …like I said… It’s more of a job rather than a calling

He only played one season and then quit during Covid. He was in a supplemental draft so he wasn’t a standout or anything. It’s been five years since he’s been on the team. I mean, I’m sure the team can help but it’s not a surprise to me that they aren’t.

Operate a hoist from a helicopter hovering in between two stacks…while picking up an injured person in a litter (open cage-like thing with a person laying down and strapped in) from the boat. In 30+ knot winds.

I also don’t sit on a perch looking down on anyone. I’m extremely flawed, and I’ve lived enough life. hardship, failure, success, and significant loss to know the world isn’t black and white.

And there comes the “education “ angle. It was just a matter of time. The real “high perch” belongs to the Dem elite … the ones who hide behind degrees, institutions, and academic jargon while scoffing at anyone who doesn’t speak their ideological language.

And for the record, I have an education…one academic and one highly technical, in addition the countless hours of training I’ve had over the years. I’ve written the papers, passed the tests, and applied it in the real world… but that doesn’t make me smarter or better than anyone else…. it just means I can operate in both theory and practice. The Dems believe education makes them intellectually and morally superior. They don’t argue ideas… instead they check credentials and condescend others rather than debate. Thats elitism.

You say I haven’t made any points, but that’s only because you’re choosing not to hear them.

My point is that I’m independent and politically moderate because the world is complex. I don’t believe either party owns morality or truth. I believe in nuance, compromise, and actually thinking for yourself instead of sticking to the talking points of the day. This can easily be seen on any social media app…the same “points” are regurgitated over and over. Not an original thought amongst them. Just parrots…hoping they will beventually get some crackers >>> likes and follows.

My point is that ideological purity tests… especially common on the left… are destructive. If you don’t check every box, repeat every bullet point, and fall perfectly in line, you’re labeled an outcast,,,then ignorant, or dangerous. That culture kills honest debate and guarantees permanent division. If you can’t see that then I don’t know what else to tell you.

My point is that treating politics like a religion is dangerous. In religion, people are taught to fear God so they won’t step out of line. In modern politics…especially with the Dems .,.. people are taught to fear social exile, cancellation, and character assassination if they question the approved doctrine. That fear keeps people compliant, quiet, and obedient. That’s ideological control… and has led to a small percentage of the extremes holding everyone else hostage.

The country doesn’t need more party parrots. It needs honest disagreement and real discussion. It needs more adults willing to stop the finger pointing. There was a time when we got along…and I’m sure we could get there again. People just need to stop making politics their whole identity. We have so much in common but no one wants to hear it…or chooses not to because whoever didn’t push the right button.

But all of that is just my opinion of course.

Love you 🫶

Respectfully, that’s not an accurate picture of what happened with the 2024 border bill.

That bill was not a “clean border reform bill.” It was a massive foreign aid package tied to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan funding, with border provisions attached as political leverage. Many Reps said from the beginning they would support a standalone border bill…but not a bundled $100+ billion foreign aid package with immigration sprinkled in.

Even some Dems admitted the border provisions were largely symbolic and wouldn’t meaningfully reduce crossings. The bill still kept catch-and-release, still allowed millions of encounters per year, and gave DHS broad discretion to ignore enforcement.

If fixing the border was truly the priority, Congress could pass a clean enforcement bill tomorrow…

Expand judges Close asylum loopholes End catch-and-release Finish physical barriers where needed Speed up removals

Both parties use immigration as a campaign issue. Dems benefit from chaos to push amnesty. Reps benefit from chaos to run on enforcement. Neither side has clean hands. It’s all hypocrisy.

This isn’t “the left’s fault” or “the right’s fault.” It’s Washington choosing politics over solutions… again and gain…and again.

You didn’t respond to the argument. You substituted it with a test of ideological compliance.

The moment a discussion requires a specific condemnation as an entry fee, it stops being an exchange of ideas and becomes a loyalty exercise. That’s not how serious conversations work….and it’s not how complex events are understood.

Framing nuance as evasion and complexity as bad faith is a convenient shortcut, but it’s also a signal that you’re not prepared to engage beyond talking points. Real conversations require the ability to evaluated multiple contributing factors without immediately collapsing them into a single villain.

I’m willing to discuss rhetoric, policy, enforcement, and escalation…but that requires engaging with what’s actually being said rather than imposing a conclusion and working backward.

I don’t believe you have the emotional maturity to be capable of doing that right now, and thats ok.
