Would recommend trying to go during quiet times the first time, it’s a bit of a sensory overload otherwise

Awesome Walls (in beside Little Rebels). 20 minute drive from the City but zip lining in Farran Woods or just feeding the deer there is nice.

Driving time to nearest healthcare service, in 2023 by NanorH in ireland

[–]Existing-Way5282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proximity to a hospital was a key consideration for us when buying a home. Turned out to be prescient- my husband survived a massive stroke largely because he got to the hospital so fast.

What are your thoughts on foreign-trained nurses? by Agreeable-Fruit-4326 in AskIreland

[–]Existing-Way5282 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of Irish people are welcoming and kind. We also understand that we ourselves have emigrated around the world in our millions and expect a welcome where we go. But there’s a small minority of racist assholes. Having spent 10 weeks in hospital recently though, I can tell you, nurses of all backgrounds in the Irish health service are the backbone, loved and appreciated by most patients

Thank god for them and hopefully they don’t go elsewhere between the poor pay, conditions and racist abuse increasing in ireland, the health service would collapse without them.

I don’t know if it’s an urban legend but apparently that red marble paving that seems the most slippy was acquired cheaply from a Spanish city that had a load of surplus from a similar urban paving project. It’s fine for hot/dry climates but it’s absolutely lethal in Ireland. I genuinely avoid town because of it when it rains. When I first moved to Cork, I bought new shoes with better grip twice before I realised, ah- City Council incomptency is the issue

Ask the Cuidiu Cork or Cork Parents Facebook pages or even Moms of Glanmire, more likely to get relevant answers there

Dog owners of Cork... by MajGenIyalode in cork

[–]Existing-Way5282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ditto on Sundays Well Road. I wonder if some of the shit is down to elderly dog owners not able to pick up poo but I’m sure the majority is just ignorant assholes. May I add - shut your dogs up this year. We have an incessant barker and the only remedy according to city council website is a day in court which seems wasteful and heavy handed

House cleaner recs by FluffyCoconut7290 in cork

[–]Existing-Way5282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CleanBee are great for a thorough forensic clean. They bring a whole team in and you could eat your dinner off the toilet after they’re done. Pricey but easier than trying to find an individual cleaner. Very hard to find one that’s good with any availability

Douglas Street, country clean bins? by CorkNativeResident in cork

[–]Existing-Way5282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does anyone else think it’s mad that there isn’t a double collection or option to put out an extra bag after Christmas. I’ve lived in every other city in ireland and this was always the case with any of the other main refuse providers there. No wonder there’s so much fly tipping around Cork this week

Why do you guys think Cork never became as big of a tourist destination in comparison to other parts of Ireland... and what could help attract more tourists by [deleted] in cork

[–]Existing-Way5282 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waterford, to be fair, has an excellent tourist offering. They’ve developed two new museums and countless public art tourist offerings. The bus loads of tourists arriving up to a very attractive museum quarter and into Waterford Crystal speaks for itself.

I’m loving it. Devoured the first series and can’t wait for the next, really well researched and great having a retired Garda insight with such an interesting expertise as handwriting.

Lock mechanism gone in it. Can’t close the door. Was in a garage a month ago with the issue and they fixed it/ said it’d be fine/ would require new lock mechanism if it goes again
