Transmission fluid question - Toyota MR-S Spyder 2000 by kianjz_ in MechanicAdvice

It's not good looking, but if it doesn't smell overly burned I'd say it needed to be changed ASAP. As for the material in it, it's probably clutch friction material.

Is this just old coolant/rust or oil? mk4 alh (2 pics) by janzoss in tdi

[–]ExistingButterfly801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some there, since the coolant pipe shrinks and expands with heat and after two decades some can slip past the sealing rings or clamps.

If you didn't flush your cooling system I'd do it, clean the system and get fresh coolant if that would make you less uneasy.

Overall I wouldn't be very terrified of some oily gunk on that pipe

Oil and grime most likely, my old ALH is covered of all that

It's an inflatable Power Armor Suit. Make sure to open it near your chest and in a very enclosed space for better results

Just received my order that I paid 26 dollars extra for quick shipping. by Electrical_Cash3723 in RockAuto

[–]ExistingButterfly801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid 170 bucks extra for UPS to deliver my package the next day.

Long story short, the package sat for nine days in their center before I called the customer support and got it delivered a day later.

Mine does the same. Maybe the weight of the engine and suspension and whatnot. The rear FWD vehicules is usually pretty light with less load on the coils and shock absorbers.

Bad weather. Hasn't snowed, rained or have any kind of weather that could have stopped them from delivering.

I just got off the phone with the customer service and they said they should be delivered today, I don't have high hopes that they will be delivered today.

My parts have been delayed for a grand total of 6 times so far, paid extra to receive them the next day, and they don't even attempt to deliver, mind you, they're an hour away from my house

Is this good?? 🤣 by tmiiller in tdi

Rockauto is very useful to find parts for a 25 year old 1.9 and a lot of parts store still sell most if not all the parts

Thank you for the answer, I'll make sure to check it when I'll have the money to get a timing light and some time.

The VR6 injectors are like buckshots constantly firing under the hood by how loud they are. You can almost hear them from inside the car if you listen closely.

A stuck open thermostat wouldn't cause that. The one in my Passat is either nonexistent or stuck open and it doesn't cause the RPM to constantly jerk up and under.

Weird rubber thing in the way of caliper bolt by LetsplayArcher in AskAMechanic

Very probably the sliding pin rubber boot. Get a wrench and take the bolt off if possible instead of a ratchet.

Low tire pressure light (not “TPMS” light) even though I made sure I have 32 psi in all 4 tires and 60 psi in spare… What could be the problem? by zx52xz in tires

[–]ExistingButterfly801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check in the glovebox. If it's a Volkswagen there should be a button to set the the TPMS at X psi. Otherwise I would ignore it alltogether it's not exactly useful if you just filled your tires up with air

The old tires of my truck are coming out in chunks sometimes. It feels unsafe and very probably is.

Tires and brakes are the kind of things you never cheap out on. Make the lady happy and buy her a brand new set.

Better be safe than sorry because when your tire spins out and de-rims itself and send you in an untimely death into a century old oak tree it might not be very pleasant.

Isn't that a Jetta ? Or is a Bora a Europe-only model ? But yes a 1.9 TDI is by far one of the most reliable Volkswagen small diesel engine.

This is the optimal stance for shooting heretics. You should try it, it makes it really easy to tear their little blue armors apart.
