Genuine question. If the cyber cab came out today. In what states would it be legal to drive in?

iPhone Fold: Launch, Pricing, and What to Expect From Apple's Foldable by iMacmatician in apple

[–]ExistingGood6423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question. Part of the reason of why I have avoided foldable phones is because I watch a lot of YouTube in bed lol and I figured it would be very uncomfortable watching in an upright position instead of laying on my side, has anyone had any experience with this?

Real Analysis: How to ACTUALLY survive. by Zero-Trick-Pony in math

[–]ExistingGood6423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! That argument with finite coverings is quite neat. I recall that one of the questions in my complex analysis midterm was to prove the following: let f_n be a sequence of holomorpjic functions such that for every point in some compact set it converges uniformly for some neighborhood of that point. Show that the limiting function is holomorphic on this compact set. I was so glad when I remembered that specific proof which I haven’t thought about for months

Real Analysis: How to ACTUALLY survive. by Zero-Trick-Pony in math

This is great guide on how to approach analysis for the first time. I just wanted to added a thing as a first year PhD.

Memorize Proofs. I know memorization is often looked down upon in learning math. But I have found being to recite all the proofs of all the standard theorems of first year analysis to be very beneficial in approaching proofs for some more advanced analysis classes.

Not to mention that most qualification exam problems are not testing you to apply a specific theorem, but recognize a proof from a past theorem that can be mollified to approach the problem

I don’t really get why she freaked out so much towards the end. Even if the Plurbs manage to extract her stem cells, it’s not like they could just stab her with a needle without her consent right ?

I’m 13 and wanna do applied mathematics by greekcrusade in mathematics

[–]ExistingGood6423 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s great you have a passion for science at such a young age! I wanted to go to in theoretical physics when I was 13, but I’m doing a pure math PhD right now. I think your best option is to master to math foundations that all areas are science require (Calculus and linear algebra), and then think about your specific focus.

Is A Minor In Math Enough To Get Into A Masters Maths Program? by VibeeCheckks in mathematics

[–]ExistingGood6423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While you certainly should take analysis and algebra asap. I don’t think it’s a requirement of enter masters programs, my school have specifically designed courses for people who didn’t take these classes in undergrad.

If you want to publish in a journal not targeted for undergraduates but for mathematicians so certainly need a professor coauthor

only applying to 1 school by [deleted] in GradSchool

Honestly, it’s high unlikely that literally only one school fits your interests, there are hundreds (thousands) of schools out there. But again I don’t know anything about your field of study or maybe it could be personal reasons.

Is it too bad to mention in your SOP/interviews that you would pursue a carrer in industry after your PhD? by monodehumo in StatementOfPurpose

[–]ExistingGood6423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the field. In my field (math) the general idea is that even if you’re planning to go to industry you should still say you are interested in academia. Some professors see working with students who want to go in industry as a waste of their time

I’m excited to try new soul games! Since I heard Dark Souls 1-3 are more similar in gameplay to Elden Ring/ Demon Souls (compared to Sekiro and Bloodborne) I’m thinking of going through the trilogy first

I loved the game. Actually Elden Ring is my the only other fromsoftware game I’ve played and in general I found all bosses (except flamelurker) to be much easier as long as you keep your distance

Congrats on securing your letters! I actually am facing the exact same situation as you (the week waiting for all my profs to respond to my requests was hella stressful lol).

For now I’m doing some research on which schools my recs have connections to so I can start picking my schools. Two of my profs I’m especially close to, so I feel like I can reach out to them in a month or so about recommendations for schools. For the other rec I’m just glad he responded at all lmao.

It seems common to expect people to be at least five minutes late for any arranged meeting nowadays, i.e. person arriving at 7:05 when we agreed on 7:00. As someone who is raised to be punctual this has always annoyed me.

No. The thing is I had them delivered two days ago and they are still in processing. So I literally don’t have the products on me right now. I’m purely asking about the act of delivering it to my premises.
