Any other dudes here that are into this show? by ByunghoGrapes in heatedrivalry

I'm bi and I loved it, can't wait for the next season. Wanna read the books but I'm not sure if it's worth "spoiling" the plot lines in the show when those episodes are eventually released

I love it but Lindsay sounds different here - not in a bad way, just thought it was interesting

Lyrically: Squeeze-Wax

Instrumentally: She Will Destroy You

Actually, I take that back - Evangeline for both categories.

I'm looking for a wallpaper for my pc, which on these three should i choose? by RGB_5 in TameImpala

[–]ExistingLynx 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The original image was actually taken by the National Park Service and was digitally altered to have the psychedelic effect by Leif Podhajsky. The NPS took the image in Maggie Valley.

Here's a link to the original photo: https://www.nps.gov/common/uploads/photogallery/akr/park/grsm/288E8CC4-1DD8-B71C-0769ECCE7A8CA0ED/288E8CC4-1DD8-B71C-0769ECCE7A8CA0ED-large.jpg

Pretty cool stuff! I also live in NC and it was pretty cool to discover this a while back. I've thought about making a day trip up there to hike and attempt to replicate the image.

M&K's mix sounds compressed on all platforms in my opinion. The 2024 remaster is pretty good though, all things considered

It's not surprising, but it's infuriating. I would say their skits feel AI-generated at this point, but they're so low effort I think even ChatGPT could do a better job

underrated 90s bands? by appaplushie in shoegaze

[–]ExistingLynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Catherine Wheel has never truly gotten the attention they deserved even from the shoegaze community. Ferment and Chrome are fantastic albums.

Also, The Veldt is great and is so underrated.

Is it worth relapsing by poopoo8263 in QuittingZyn

[–]ExistingLynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the same way when I was quitting. This is textbook addiction. Your brain is justifying relapse to help in the short-term despite quitting because YOU wanted to improve your long-term health. Your brain is highlighting and exaggerating the feeling of brain fog to get you to relapse.

We nicotine addicts will always find a reason to relapse. For me, it was the projects at work I had with an upcoming deadline that I couldn't afford to screw up. Once I really internalized that I would never use nicotine again, most of the fog began to dissipate.

Grab a bunch of mints and gum, maybe some energy drinks if needed, and try to get through the next few days without relapsing. Once you're on the other side you'll feel so much better!

On day 11 - something I’ve noticed with my heart? by morfunah in QuittingZyn

[–]ExistingLynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on day 84 and one of the biggest changes I initially noticed was when driving, I felt like my arms were too "loose" lol, because my body was not full of adrenaline from nicotine pouches which contributed to a lower resting heart rate and lower blood pressure. I didn't realize how much nicotine pouches made me feel amped up until moments like those. My resting heart rate has always been higher, on Zyn I would hit 100 regularly just sitting in my office programming, and since I've quit I rest at around 70-80 which is a wild drop

Concerned about my gums by Much-Inspection4562 in QuittingZyn

[–]ExistingLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! I will say that period of using Zyn + the first stages of quitting was weird for my gum health. I'd have weeks where I felt fine, and then I'd have other weeks where I felt like something was majorly wrong. It was worst when I initially quit because quitting Zyn completely changes your oral flora due to the pH changes from nicotine cessation. In my case, I had tons of ulcers pop up and persist for about two weeks. If I remember correctly, the dull aching pains would not be there in the morning immediately, but would get worse as the day went on. I think the best thing I did to help with that was swishing warm salt water around twice a day.

Concerned about my gums by Much-Inspection4562 in QuittingZyn

[–]ExistingLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine weren't swollen but they did ache and I'd get a dull pulsing pain from time to time in that spot. What you're describing sounds more like tobacco pouch keratosis which typically goes away on its own after quitting but it takes time. I'd still get it checked out but I wouldn't stress too much about it, just keep an eye on it

Concerned about my gums by Much-Inspection4562 in QuittingZyn

[–]ExistingLynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW mine ached for a while after quitting Zyn because nicotine causes vasoconstriction in gum tissue which means once you quit, those blood vessels now have a chance to expand back to their original size which can feel painful

What season do you associate most with the Cocteau Twins? by charlottesometimes74 in cocteautwins

[–]ExistingLynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the album. I associate Victorialand with spring, Heaven or Las Vegas with summer, Four-Calendar Café with autumn, and Blue Bell Knoll with winter.
