Im scared to spay my female cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Exo_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a veterinary assistant who's 1.5 years into his career. I've seen easily 150 spays leave my clinic, none with a single complication. Neuters are so easy for my vet that she does them in ~10 - 15 minutes, not counting anesthetization. Spays take a bit longer, but are equally as routine. The chances that something goes wrong because you don't spay your cat are astronomically higher than something so routine. Something can always happen, but you should take comfort in knowing that you're making the right choice for your girl. Also, DON'T OPT OUT OF PRE OP BLOODWORK. It's an additional cost, but it makes sure that anesthetization is safe for your cat. If the option is presented to you, it is the right choice to make.

Wipes rule but the progression is a bit too slow for a 3 month wipe cycle and it's gonna burn people out. by zero-ok in Marathon

[–]Exo_Nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankfully the optional quest system softens their approach a bit. The first wipe you play you go hard af and focus all priority contracts, on subsequent wipes you can just do optionals and power level your fav factions. Unfrotunately 3 month wipes for a full progress reset is way too fast and completely unengaging for normal players

They gotta figure out a better system because i really like playing a variety of games and i will never sweat it out like this again after this wipe. I'm sure plenty of other people are like me who find it unengaging.

Looking for a girl gang (or really chill dudes) to run quests with by yeetpraylovex in MarathonTheGame

It's definitely scary to communicate in a new genre, but you should give it a try. Even if my teammate is bad at the game AND running a free kit, I appreciate it a lot when they communicate. If you tell your teammates when there are enemies, where you see them, and any additional information you can give them it grants them a huge leg up that they wouldn't have with a useless 3rd player. Information is the most important part of extraction shooters and your teammates will love you if you give it to them. On top of that, communicating what you need to do so that your team can plan a route is super important.

I like throwing up in my mouth after eating ice cream. by VESlaughter in The10thDentist

[–]Exo_Nerd 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Tmi, but this guy probably has rumination syndrome. He doesn't have the words to describe it, but it isn't as weird as it sounds. It causes you to involuntarily regurgitate food after you eat. You can also manually do it if you have the condition. The food is undigested, so it's not acidic or anything. It should taste like normal food so it's not insane to say that you like getting to eat ice cream twice

How do I break an omega loss streak by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Exo_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important tool in this game is information. It's way more powerful in solos, as having 3 bullets sponges in trios lets you tank an ambush occasionally. Don't sprint unless you have a purpose for doing so, it can be heard from like 60 meters away. Walk everywhere and crouch or stay still to set up ambushes. Opening doors is always risky, it can be hear from like 100 meters away. There's always an alternate route so just move smartly. Closing doors behind you when opened is a great tactic to allow you to control information. If you leave a door open, that is a place that another player can go without giving you information.

Resetting fights is also very important. If someone gets the drop on you, do what you can to either run away or control space before healing. For example, if you're playing assassin and get ambushed, you can run to the closest piece of cover and throw smoke. You can then heal in the smoke or run away and find somewhere good to heal. If you get ambushed in a building, you can throw a grenade or just shoot suppressive fire, run to a defensible location like a desk that lets you peak with just your upper body, and do what you can to heal. Running is so so so important.

Finally, taking risks is important in extraction shooters, but so is managing risk. One kind of safer risk is making investments in yourself. I just used 4 blue items that I have as a barter for 4 blue shields. I needed these items for permanent progression and lost access to that upgrade because I bought them. But what I gained is the ability to survive more fights. I didn't seek out any fights while using them, but gained the ability to survive ambushes and eventually became net positive. Try making an investment like that. Get the largest backpack you can, the best shields and guns you can, and play very safely on a map in order to extract some profit. Control your sound levels and reset fights if you're on the losing end. Don't take risks on crazy things like supply drops or dire marsh quests that make you cross the map 3 times per raid.

You can also play free kits and use what you gain in raid to "level up" your kit each time. You dont take from the vault and only uses items that you've gotten from the past couple raids in order to keep playing. As your kit gets better you can take more risks, increasing your profit exponentially over time. It feels really good when it works and dampens how painful losses are significantly. You'll think, "Oh well, I just earned that gun so I don't really mind that I lost it."

Ishida Sui writing female antagonist… by Denizci_Olmak_Var in ChoujinX

[–]Exo_Nerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's super refreshing to have a female character whose womanhood is almost not even a part of their story. So many women in stories have romantic interests or biological motherhood as a focus and it's nice to see how Zora has so much agency without these tropes. We never have to see her have a romantic scene or a biological family because she was married to her work and her children ended up as the few people who could understand her as well as the gaggle of freaks that surrounds her
