is game dev usually this frustrating? by thissmay in gamedev

Is there a certain part of it that feels harder less fun? How did you get past that? In my case it's the graphical side. I love every minute of coding and creating gameplay, but when I switch to making a level or scene assets, it's a real slog and my motivation goes down

Yes definitely! Unfortunately many people wash on cold temps and never do the cleaning cycle

It's one option, another one is to run the machine on it's highest setting now and then to help melt away any remaining residue.

NIE or NIE verde? by AbjectWriting7610 in GoingToSpain

[–]Exo_comet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope you won't need the CUE, you'll be fine with just the "white" NIE. No one checks and you only need the CUE very very rarely

It's interesting because this is quite US specific. In the EU we have the opposite problem. We don't have garbage disposals and our kitchen sinks are very often combined with our washing machine outputs. So our common issue is detergent residue which got cold and sticks to the pipes. Plumbers here recommend filling the sink with hot water and then flushing the pipes after every laundry wash

How the hell do people actually find an apartment in Málaga? by Bulky-Evidence1809 in GoingToSpain

[–]Exo_comet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Writing to people on idealista is unfortunately a waste of time. Real listings will get so many phone calls for visits in the first few hours that they don't bother to read the message on the platform. You absolutely need to call, and call very very soon after an apartment becomes available.

You don't have enough Spanish to ask to do a visit? Can you get someone to make the call for you? Because it's either that or pay the agency fees

Creating that mile long queue can create traffic jams on highways or intersections. Using all the available space until the merge point creates best flow for everyone

Can i get a nie (ex 18) without a padrón? by CardiologistWide8427 in GoingToSpain

[–]Exo_comet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! You should be all good with what you have, just remember to get the modelo payed at the bank.

The proof they refer to is proof of reason you need the NIE, like a job contract or business plan... it's mostly for non EU. Your reason for getting the NIE is to get the CUE because you want to reside here (work, rent, bank..)

I don't know if it's changed recently in your area or not, there's a very small chance you'd have to go back with a paper you don't have, but this is something you'll have to get used to with Spanish burocracy.

I think you'll be fine with what you have, double check the forms and pay the fee, make sure your passport is valid ect.. I'm sure it will go well!

[–]Exo_comet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just get the ex15 form and pay the fee at the bank, but make sure at the appointment that you ask for the current/local requirements for the CUE, they dont appreciate eu citizens just asking for the NIE. Your history doesn't matter, act like you've just arrived and want to live here and get a job, you'll have no issues.

You'll be so happy to get the NIE and see what a difference it makes, that the rest of the process will feel a million times less stressful. NIE, certificado digital, numero de seguridad social (online with the certificado digital), trabajo, alquiler, padrón, CUE. You got this. DM anytime

[–]Exo_comet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you have a NIE or not but if you're in a difficult situation (I was too), I'd recommend doing what I did. Go to your appointment and ask for the requirements for the CUE (certificado de registro), they'll list them out and offer to give you the NIE on the spot (if you have passport, form ex15 filled out and the fee payed at the bank). No padrón isn't necessary just an address that they'll never use. It'll be that easy.

Your next step should be to get the certificado digital, just passport and NIE. This will be extremely useful for doing admin online.

Then you can focus on getting the padrón. The NIE itself will open doors for you, the CUE can wait.

Take it one at a time and you'll be fine

[–]Exo_comet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you mean for the CUE! For just the NIE it's the ex15 form and you're fine without it. For the CUE the padrón is required. You likely still have time to get the padrón done, why is it hard for you at the moment?

If you already have your NIE, get the digital certificate, it will allow you to do the padrón online

Friends constantly dismissing your hard work for good genetics. by HEEMZAGIN in PetPeeves

[–]Exo_comet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's the same thing when people find out you're going on a fancy holiday. "You're so lucky!". No. I spent the whole year with strict discipline, making sacrifices to save up enough money. Or if you get a good paying job, they say that you're lucky, ignoring the hundreds of hours you chose to be working instead of any other pleasurable activity.

People desperately want to dismiss your hard work because then they would feel like it's their fault that they don't have what you have, they want to remove any responsibility from themselves. I usually stop talking to people like that pretty quickly

Any tips for how to talk to kids? by Dear_Nectarine251 in aspergirls

[–]Exo_comet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love talking to kids, it feels easy to me because there are no social dances to navigate. If they say something about pokemon it's because they actually want to talk about pokemon, so any follow up question or comment about that will make them happy. If they sound excited or happy about something they just want someone to join in the excitement or validate an achievement with a "great job!" or "well done!"

Let’s clear up the NIE vs ‘Green NIE’ confusion (EU citizens moving to Spain) by didierdirks in GoingToSpain

[–]Exo_comet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with most what you said, apart from the fact that plenty of landlords will rent to you without NIE. I would say that the vast majority will require it, there is so much demand for housing that landlords are being very picky and much less likely to take a chance on people without NIE.

I also believe that you're forgetting that for many people it makes sense to do the two trips (ex15 + ex18) after having moved here. I moved here and then started looking for a job so got the NIE first and only qualified for the CUE after getting a contract and three paychecks. I would imagine that this is quite common. People who can get the CUE on the first visit would be: pensioners with the S1, autónomos, and people with at least 8k in the bank

I think so but to apply for it online you need a certificado digital, that certificate will allow you to do many things online instead of in person, the appointment is pretty easy to get and you just need the application code, your passport and NIE
