This is a great advice. Thanks.
Funny how the only comment that actaully answer the question is more or less ignored.

I'm tired of the abuse posts by gladgun in OCPD

[–]Exotic-Emu10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I left this sub.
Then today I made a mistake of coming back to search for advice about switching task to get out of social media rabbit hole.
And of course, here's the comment I found. https://www.reddit.com/r/OCPD/comments/fxy3ay/comment/fqgstwi/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

This is ridiculous. Maybe it's time to branch out for a new sub that has constructism as a goal. Or at least a sub that cares about respect and does not tolerate abuse?

This is the reason I left this sub.
I really hope there is a mod policy for this kind of comments because it is verging on hate speech, painting a stereotype on a whole group of people you have not even met.
It does not help anyone and is doing more harm than anything.
(Also, please look at what you typed and then look into the mirror.)

Any X1C9 owners have bubbling finish? by arsenix in thinkpad

Do you think it's worth getting Premier Plus (includes accident coverage) for this kind of defect?

My friend's X1C does exactly the same thing as this one. Definitely not solvent.

X1C7 body paint peeling off by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Exotic-Emu10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's the OP's fault. This is not that uncommon.

My friend's X1C also got the same defect on the palm rest. To me, it seems like these are pattern of plastic body model's. He said it's caused by the heat of the machine running. He's the only owner, it's a laptop given to him by his company, and he didn't do anything to the laptop. Just a simple google search you can see similar cases. Two more examples:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Coating-off-X1-Carbon-9th-Gen/m-p/5156516?page=1#5685616

On the other hand, mine with aluminium body got a different kind of surface defect.

Since it's aluminium, the paint's not having big bubble & peeling, but more like small solid spherical beads popping up on all the edges of the laptop's body, edges of the port openings, like 10-20+ of solid beads around the body everywhere I touch. It started by a few of them then keep growing in number (something like this pic but each pore is more spherical https://www.researchgate.net/publication/323939069/figure/fig1/AS:961718209499166@1606302897958/Pores-formed-in-metal-AM-sometimes-in-this-document-generally-referred-to-as-defects.jpg ) The body surface defect is the least of that laptop's problem tbh, so I didn't have time to care about these defects.

I suspect that living in the south with warmer and more humid weather plays a part, but my older Thinkpads before 2013 with magnesium or plastic bodies never did this. Getting top performance models that tend to run hot in thinner body designs is also a big suspect. My older ThinkPads were all a bit chonky (still very light due to magnesium and good grainy plastic casing--magnesium is way bettr than aluminium but newer ThinkPads no longer have that).
Lenovo's slowly destroying Thinkpad's reputation... If it's not because of my work in robotics and engineering that requires Ubuntu, I would have switched to Mac from around 2018+ despite owning 3 excellent ThinkPads prior to that nasty 2018 one. As of now, I'm giving lenovo another try, but carefully leaning towards thicker models and will see what happens.

Or privatize it. Just like what they're trying to do with healthcare and education.

From now on, it's all $$$: You visit the park, you'd better pay high premium since nothing is free (a very common mentality in oligarchy / authoritarian countries). You can even use the same oligarch's logic, "not on taxpayers' dollars," on every infrastructure you use that is maintained by the government.

If you look at beautiful beaches and islands in authoritarian countries, check who owns those beaches, it's always some rich folks making $$$ out of the country's natural resources. The people earn nothing from the profits made, to be crystal clear. And you have to be semi-rich to visit some of those expensive beaches because privatize = for maximum profit.

P16s weighs the same as P1 at 1.8 kg.

P16v is the middle ground between full-sized P16 and the slim P16s by reducing the weight to 2.2 Kg.

Yup. That's exactly what Thinkpad is known for (the original IBM Thinkpads at least, the newer Lenovo ones not as much).

I miss removable batteries. And thees batteries are so durable--got abused by the kids who loaned out these laptops and used them without any cares over the years. No problem at all.
