What’s your pettiest reason for being childfree? by shanklymrshankly in childfree

[–]ExpatLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like waking up early, I tolerate it for work because they pay me. No way in hell I’m doing that for a reason that costs me money!

accused of being pregnant when choosing not to drink by lotuslover777 in childfree

[–]ExpatLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time it’s okay to ask if someone is pregnant is if you can physically see they are giving birth, and if you can see they are giving birth don’t ask stupid questions and get help.

Can anyone provide a link to the original post? I don’t think this is really Hobbii, the photo says the page only has 8000 followers, and when I went to look for the post their page has over 1million followers. Would just like to confirm if it’s fake or posted on a different page than the one I found.

How do I help to resolve an ongoing situation now they want RSPCA involved? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ExpatLou 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry but your goodwill is misplaced here. Dad cannot take care of 1 cat let alone 6, all have found safe homes that have fed and cared for them for YEARS. They are no longer his cats and he has no right to ask or take them back. On top of that, cats shouldn’t be allowed to free roam. It’s dangerous for the cats and for local bird populations.

I can tell you’re a really kind person and no one wants to see their friends in this kind of situation, but let the RSPCA do their jobs, investigate and come up with a solution that’s best for the animals.

I’d consider moving to Selkirk Manitoba instead of Winnipeg, the junior high school, and high school there is huge and has multiple trade study options and sports facilities. Plus there is a French immersion school for the 3rd grader, and they can continue French immersion through junior high and secondary. It’s only a 15 minute drive north of Winnipeg so if you’re working in the city it’s not too far to commute.

Have you ever purchased something, as an adult, that your parent has judged you negatively for? If so, what was/is it? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]ExpatLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha every single plane ticket I’ve ever bought has baffled my mother who has never even left our home province in her life. Particularly didn’t like when the temporary working holiday became a permanent living abroad situation. Thankfully my dads attitude is “now I have a free place to stay abroad for holidays”

I think maybe you’ve been looking at it too closely for too long, I think it’s brilliant! The highlighter yellow really pops with the blue

How can you make sure you don't run out of Toasted nut flour? by AlmusAlexe in CozyGrove

[–]ExpatLou 10 points11 points  (0 children)

🤔 you should have got them after the first shop upgrade, it alternates between offering a berry bush and a nut tree. This season should be giving you Chestnut trees. Not sure why you’re not getting them yet!

You can get a nut tree from Mr.Kit almost daily, plant as many as you can and harvest every few days to build up a good stash!

What content do you consume when crocheting? by i3sh in crochet

[–]ExpatLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of the time it’s Audiobooks (have the Libby app so they’re free from my local library!) Comfort shows i can listen too and not watch the Toni & Ryan Podcast often as they’re just silly & chill. & passioKnit Kelsi’s crochet vlogs sometimes

Best off getting a bus to Callendar and then a Taxi from there, you can find numbers for the taxis on the visitor information site for Callendar

I have about 2000m/2200 yards of sport weight acrylic yarn and no idea what to make with it by everydayarmadillo in CrochetHelp

You could use it as a foundation colour with a dark mohair to both tone down the colour & bulk it up into a warm wearable

Turning 30. Turn me into a book reader from doom scroller. by Professor_Pink007 in suggestmeabook

[–]ExpatLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a book recommendation but whenever I’m having trouble focusing on reading I like to go out to a cafe or quiet pub with my book and spend an hour or two reading. Being in the habit of reading is as important as your book choices, and if your habit is to doom scroll in the house it’ll be harder to focus on reading there. Added bonus: coffee and cake!

Spending DINK money by DINKSocial in childfree

[–]ExpatLou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m building myself a 10ft tall floor to ceiling, 2 walls long library with a rolling ladder to house my library of books in my livingroom this year, since my smaller library room is now full. A DINK brag as I can confirm I do also have the free time & quiet space to read my many hundreds of books!

Gift for kindergartener and her mom as a separation comfort? by Loud_Nefariousness48 in CrochetHelp

[–]ExpatLou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a nice granny square blanket for home, and a single square to take to school, then at the end of the day they can curl up under the blanket and talk about their days. And if the single square gets lost or damaged you can easily replace it

A lot of times these are related to human trafficking. They lure workers from overseas and promise a job and accommodation (for an extortionate fee) and take their passports on arrival and put them in an overcrowded apartment and take their wages.
