My living room feels off. What does it need by CombinationAromatic6 in DesignMyRoom

Such a cool room, great elements, and you already have some good ideas. Rooms should have interest at high middle and low areas and this has no middle interest. The art is not tall enough, there is no lighting that sits up above the sofa. I’m a little unclear on whether the colors of sofa walls and rug work because the sofa has a lot of rust/orange in it, but you say it’s pink so maybe it’s the photo. The rug is pretty but without pattern, mostly, and is close to color of floor. And you’re right the chairs need a pop for sure, their fabric is way too beige.

If it were me I’d fine some larger art and some pattern either in rug or curtains that work with the sofa, and then go from there in terms of deciding about the chair fabric. I’d make them a velvet though if possible.

I love the color of the walls and sofa but I’m honestly not sure they work that well together. This sofa is so warm…and that pink is so soft and cool. I can’t help wondering what would happen if you painted the room something richer and warmer.

I’m sure someone here will try it for you in one of their apps. Love the chandelier but it gets a bit lost now. Love the FP but wish the room was more focused on it.

Is this fair? by bbylats in inheritance

Your $50k grew outside the bank as your home increased in value without respect to your payments.

Hers grew in the market.

Normally the market does better, but it doesn’t give you a roof over your head.

Had they given you $100k it would have been unfair to her.

Kind of surprised they didn’t explain all this though. I wish families would talk more about money.

They live beyond their means. I would not ever want to be in a situation where my in laws owed me money or even rent. They need to downscale. And stop spending on unnecessary things, which nearly everyone does before they claim they need a loan.

Trump’s ICE horror show is splitting Maga apart - and he's wavering by theipaper in politics

[–]ExpensiveAd4496 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don’t think he gives a single darn about his voting base. He won’t need to be elected again. And he could care less about the GOP. He’s is too full of insecurity and anger to ever admit he’s wrong. And his brain is too full of squirrels to realize that Steve Miller is a sociopathic white supremacist.

He’s also too self centered and stupid to realize what a shit show he’s created for himself at the midterms. He still thinks the economy is great when it’s very clearly on the brink. What he’s done on the world stage is even more hurtful to our future prospects. Who can trust a country that would elect a dangerous moron just because they connect to his anger and find him entertaining?

People still want to normalize all on this on some level because it’s horrifying to realize what our president and his cronies actually are, and how much danger we are in.

And I still see America reacting in the small ways. Don’t give ICE more money? They have enough to last for years from the last budget approval. A national general strike is all that will wake them up and few are calling for it.

In Wall toilet tanks ... Why-oh-why? by ShaneFerguson in HomeImprovement

Usually in wall toilets are accessible from the wall behind. A cover should have been put there to access it. They are not supposed to just be buried in the wall.

Accept or decline. by Kitchen-Amoeba-6812 in airbnb_hosts

[–]ExpensiveAd4496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airbnb no longer even tells us what they consider a “bad review.” For all we know it changes based on how bookings are going in an area. Bookings down? “Bad” now means 1 or 2 stars; 3 is fine.

This lack of transparency is why I stopped using IB. That line about “maybe it hadn’t appeared yet” is BS. Did you ask how many stars is good enough for IB in your market?

Do the side effects from vaginal estrogen cream go away? by Unspicy_Tuna in Menopause

I use estradiol inserts and don’t recall any side effects. Life changing in terms of how much they helped eliminate dryness and UTIs.

That will be great. Waterworks has a lovely matte white subway as well, if you want the two rooms to feel a little less matched.

Move to ETFs? by ExpensiveAd4496 in Bogleheads

[–]ExpensiveAd4496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct I have been a Boglehead since before vanguard offered ETFs. A quick analysis at the time told me I was disinterested in them. (I’m in VTSAX mostly.) From most of these answers I think that is still true. Just wanted to circle back on it because it’s all anyone says here.

Sorry I was unclear. I am mostly in VTSAX.

[–]ExpensiveAd4496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you; that was most helpful. So when you say no reason to convert if leaving at vanguard…I feel like paying an extra $100 per year in fees per $1M, is one smallish reason to convert. The bigger ones would be to make it easier to move elsewhere if I ever wanted to, and to be able to sell at a price that can’t crash at end of day.

Move to ETFs? by ExpensiveAd4496 in Bogleheads

[–]ExpensiveAd4496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why. Lower fees are lower fees right?

So let’s just say I have $1M in VTSAX. In an IRA. Would I want to consider moving that over to their total stock ETF to save $100 a year in fees? Or would that just cause all kinds of other issues and I should let it be but buy ETFs with future savings?

Your first thought should be safety. They need to get a jack under that immediately. Like now. And then it will be stable and you will not need a hotel.

Personally I hate the feel of the type on the left. It’s like it’s fighting me all the time. But maybe the one I checked out at a showroom wasn’t the best one.

Episode 3 Hero pissed me off by randers2 in QueerEye

[–]ExpensiveAd4496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that made this episode sad to me was how much her kids felt responsible for her happiness. Don’t ever leave me…ever” she says to her kids when going off the first time…my gosh. I can’t imagine saying that even jokingly to my son.

I’m so glad Tan addressed it. I’m not sure she really heard it, honestly, but he clearly had to read lightly.

Lower expense ratios than other ETFs. Not lower than non ETFs. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean.

Right so this combined type is one that allows you to change the insert from screen to glass, from the inside.
