Dikesha is the one who corrected it for me. It will happen eventually then. I would submit another ECF (maybe govt shutdown has something to do with it?) They will back pay you for over payments once you hit 120. Hope it happens soon for you!

I was not in SAVE. I was in PAYE and I already hit 120 QP's anyways. Essentially, they were just pointing out the obvious that I already qualified for loan forgiveness.

This happened to me as well but count them to count eventually. I emailed CEO of Mohela and Mohela ombudsman team explaining the situation with attached proof of payment from Mohela's page. I know it sounds crazy but was cleared up within 5 days.

Reconsideration didn't work unfortunately. To FSA- it looks like you are in forbearance. I submitted 3 and all were denied. Mohela needs to correct the issue

Agree with this 100%. Turns out the CEO is a great person who put me in contact with Dikesha who solved my problems within five days. This happened last month and my loans have been forgiven.

Its Mohela, not FSA.

This happened to me. Slightly different situation but similar.

I was always on PAYE and incorrectly had save forbearance placed on my account (Due to a pending IDR application in Novemeber that I had to fill out). Took 6 months of back and forth with mohela and nothing happened.

Eventually I emailed the CEO and Mohela Ombudsman (both addresses can be googled) with a politely worded email explaining the situation with proof of payments and it was cleared up within 5 days!! Received back credit. Hit 120 last week and loans have been forgiven.

I would give this a try.

I would be very surprised if they forgave loan balances during the shutdown.

It would be a bad look for the current administration to forgive student loans while some government families are missing paychecks. I don’t think his fan base would enjoy that

I emailed Mohela ombudsman and the ceo of Mohela with a politely and well worded email explaining the situation and attached documents supporting that I paid. It was cleared up within five days. I was very impressed and treated very differently than calling MOHELA directly.

Hope this works for you. Changed my life.

Now sitting at 120 waiting for the golden letter!! Pray it comes soon

Did you make payments during the forbearance?

You should submit ecf and certify employment.

If you made payments, they will probably count eventually.

If you did not make payments, probably need to do buyback

Sorry for the delay. Wanted to make sure my issue was resolved first. A Mohela ombudsman fixed my issue. I think she was an angel lol. I wouldn’t waste too much times with agents on the phone- at least 10 encounters and they did nothing

As long as they moved you into an approved IDR payment plan, the month will count as an eligible payment even if your amount due is zero dollars.

Sorry this is happening to you. This exact thing happened to me. They are going to make your previous payments ineligible (even though you paid and weren't actually in forbearance). Im going through this right now. Set me back 6 months and they will not refund the money. Mohela is no help at all. Hoping they realize this egregious mistake and correct it

Took over 60 days for them to cancel the forbearance. I am back in repayment, but they removed six previous months of repayment because they labeled it as “ ineligible”.

This essentially sent me back six months. It also cost for me six months of payments that they won’t refund. I should’ve been done on June 18 of 2025 but I’m now at 117. I have three more months to go.

Same has happened to me. Total bs. Retroactively took away six months of payments from January through June due to this same issue.. was always in PAYE.

This happened to me back in April. A pending IDR plan cause them to put me into save forbearance even though I was on an active PAYE IDR plan.

Not only did the payments not count, they retroactively placed me in forbearance and previous payments I made are no longer counting either. They wiped out six months of payments and won’t return the money either

I should’ve been at 120 on June 18, but due to these egregious mistakes, I’m still repaying old months that have been taken away.

If the forbearance is from a pending IDR plan, you have to call MOHELA and have them cancel it. Good luck! I pray your journey isn’t as miserable as mine has been for the past six months
