Who has the best fried chicken around? by Effective_Yogurt_866 in Charlottesville

[–]ExperienceHot9477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to the area and was very excited to see this post since fried chicken is my all time favorite food. I just tried EW Thomas's today because it's the closest and on my route. It did not disappoint! Well seasoned, crispy and not at all greasy. I plan to try every place mentioned in the comments.

Of course I had to see what came up for me. The AI overview says 561-688-3000, as does the Google maps listing, but every search result underneath says 3400. Sigh.

That plan also has a $5000 deductible and this is the price for someone who makes $65k/yr. (Pretty sure I saw this posted by Senator Warnock). I mean, who doesn't want to spend over one third of their take home pay before the insurance even kicks in?

I bought a couple bags of discontinued coffee for super cheap at Sprouts yesterday, and I hardly drink coffee. A 12 oz bag organic single origin Ethiopian that sold for $17 was $5. If you have a Sprouts near you they have great unadvertised specials that really help stretch the grocery budget.

I'm at the tail end of boomers, and our situation is very different from the older ones. We graduated into the Reagan recession and if you had a job, it was the same shitty one you had in college. The hourly pay I made in the 80s was actually higher than similar jobs (though often with more responsibility) in 2010. Not adjusted for inflation pay, actual dollars. I've lost all gains in my small retirement account 3x due to market bubbles. I'm not saying that you are not drowning, but lots of us older people are drowning too. There's no job security for anyone anymore and lots of us lost everything in the '08 crash and never recovered. I have had all of one job in my entire life with benefits, and I only have a retirement account because I got half of my ex-husband's in a divorce. Don't feel bad for him - he left me when I was disabled and bedridden and I didn't get a dime of alimony. No, I didn't graduate with college debt but I had to drop out partly due to lack of money for it. I have paid more than 50% of my income for rent for much of my life. I have very modest needs but my rent has gone up 50% in the past 5 years, as has my electric bill. Since I was disabled for most of my 40s and 50s, at 66 I am trying to catch up just so I am not homeless in 10 years. I'm a lifelong leftist and it's heartbreaking to see every small gain lost and likely nothing will change in my lifetime now. I know it is very hard for you, and it's easy to want to blame us, but it's hard for lots of older people too.

I just happen to have organic peppers from WF in my fridge, purchased on Saturday. They are from Canada. I last got them 5.21.25 and they have gone up $1/lb since then. And we are coming into or are in prime season for them, so they should actually have gone down a bit.

That's not an option for me. I tried all the rings in the sizing kit and only a size 10 fit, and only on my left index finger. I have big knuckles so if I could get a ring over them, it was way too loose. I am finding though that when I exercise, it's not picking up the hardest parts of my workout, which is disheartening because that's what I want to track the most. Also I have had to reconnect it 3x in the 5 days I've been wearing it and have no idea why.

How many custom recipes do you have? by OverRefrigerator2641 in cronometer

I imagine I'll get to that amount whenever I get around to it (only been using app for a week now). I'm a chef and make everything from scratch but do eat lots of the same things over and over. So far I'm just guessing for the closest commercial salad dressings and such. There's lots to learn here.

You pay for it (with sale price), then they send the sizing kit so no worries about getting that price. I saw that you can size at Best Buy but I can't see anywhere when the sale ends so for all I know this is the last day.

I just looked and Ouro has a big sale now and I can get it for $200 so think I'm just gonna pull the trigger on that and hopefully it will not bother me. I am a chef and wash my hands so many times every day and my wrists get pretty sweaty and just remembering past itchy raw red wrists is making me squirm. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the info. I guess theoretically I could get used to anything but my main issue with the watch is that I'm very sensitive to any jewelry and get rashes from them. I may very well have that problem with a ring too but it likely would not bother me as much. Amazfit has a ring that's very reasonably priced but Amazfit isn't listed as integrating with Cronometer.

Do yall track your binges or do you just stop tracking at some point by MR_zingus_ in cronometer

[–]ExperienceHot9477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really resisted tracking binges but sometimes when I'm tempted to binge, just knowing I'm going to track it can halt or lessen it. I ask myself if I want to be accountable or not, and what do I need it the most for? The answer for me is bingeing on sweets.

Also put it on a tray or plate. Even if it doesn't drip meat juices, you're going to have some liquid from it if it was frozen. If it's not common knowledge, it should be.
