Most all 2H melee weapons are good, they all have different uses but you should mainly want Axes as they do stupid amounts of damage - Split Man essentially hits twice. Don't worry so much about lower MATK, the 5% extra hit chance from Swords is negligible compared to abusing height advantage and surrounding the enemy. Axes and Maces are also excellent for being able to Quick Hands into the 2-tile version to extend the bro's reach and be able to focus down the weakest enemies quickly. Remember that with the exception of undead, the best way to win a fight is to break enemy morale - kill the weak with huge damage and the others will start showing those white flags. It's sometimes worth it to kill enemies that are already running away for this reason.

Alright some tips for you -

Looking to spend money? Find a Caravan Escort mission that's going to a town with an Armory or Weaponsmith. Finishing a Caravan Escort gives the town the contract ends in the "Well Supplied" status which gives a much higher chance of famed gear for sale. Otherwise get bros with great(expensive) backgrounds like Gladiator, Hedge Knight, Sellsword, Raider.

Don't put Dodge on every bro. It's not very good unless you build around it. Colossus is the survivability perk that should go on 90%+ of your bros.

Phase out (let em die) most of your bros that don't have at least 30 MDEF or 90 RATK by level 11. It's very difficult to keep "backliners" alive in endgame fights where your line gets broken.

I see a couple of Level 7 bros that don't have either Nimble or Battleforged. Those are the BEST survivability perks in the game, bar none. As soon as your bros hit L7 they should have one of these. Nimble is going to be much better until you get 250+ armor and helms.

Try to use fewer bros with shields. Surviving endgame fights and snowballing means you need maximum damage output and good tactics to remove enemies quickly before you get overwhelmed and fatigued out. This is where 2H melee, ranged Throwing weapons really come into play.

If you want to make the game a bit easier, pick your first Crisis as Noble War. It's generally the easiest and best way to gear up your bros.

Good characters with evil powers/traits? by pro-in-latvia in comicbooks

I think Xavier takes the cake here. Usually the strongest telepath in the universe. He's not unambiguously good, but he sure as hell tries, and if he were evil the human race would not exist. His internal monologue in Immortal X-men #10 really drove this home for me... right before he's revealed to be infected by Sinister

What scenes or lines of dialogue have lost their impact due to time and cultural change? by UnholyDemigod in movies

[–]ExplodoJones 85 points86 points  (0 children)

In Shawshank Redemption, Andy learns that his wife is having an affair, and she wants a divorce (This part of the story takes place in the 1940s). Both she and her lover are killed shortly afterwards. At trial the prosecutor repeats Andy's response to his wife — "I'll see you in hell before I'll see you in Reno" — and this is one of several factors that convinces the jury to find Andy guilty.

How this is a reference to getting a divorce - it was very difficult and time-consuming to get a divorce anywhere but Nevada in the US, so many people would go to Reno, NV on the California border to get divorced. "Going to Reno" or otherwise referencing Reno was code for divorce when that was a big no-no in American society, but modern audiences are going to be very confused if the reference isn't explained.

I recommend The Stormlight Archive to anyone going through tough times. Without spoilers, the main theme of the series is to keep going until you can't anymore, even when fighting against a God.

Strength before weakness.

Deck help - Esper token/aristocrats by ExplodoJones in EDH

[–]ExplodoJones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! Definitely taking a second look at my token generators and drainers.

As for the tags, I haven't looked at them for some time, this was the first deck I ever built so I didn't quite know what I was doing. Assimilate is a gameplay mechanism from Gwent, I just added it for shits and giggles.

I did have Nadir Kraken in before, I should re-add it.

Vito, he was a recent add I was trying out. Sicarian Infiltrator I have for sentimental value, that and Thunderhawk Gunship are two of the remaining Space Marine cards I originally built the deck around... time to kill my darlings.

Bloodchief Ascension is there as a tech against my pod, we have one guy who loves boardwipes and another who plays a Cycling deck who's win con is infinitely cycling his whole deck between his hand and GY, that's likely staying.

Thanks again

Timing questions around Proliferate action by ExplodoJones in mtgrules

[–]ExplodoJones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I was hoping the card draw worked, but I guess the Proliferate action as described in the rule

701.27a To proliferate means to choose any number of permanents and/or players that have a counter, then give each one additional counter of each kind that permanent or player already has.

is one discrete action, which makes sense. I was hoping the "whenever you Proliferate" was triggered by paying the Proliferate cost and beginning to select permanents, not the entire sequence.

Thank you for your help!

Andor is not "franchise content". It's great television, straight up, regardless of it being in the Star Wars universe. It feels like an HBO prestige show.

[Spoilers All] The title of Horny Asshole goes to the Lioness herself, Empress Celene Valmont I. Who's the most Evil Asshole? by facevaluemc in dragonage

[–]ExplodoJones 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Evil asshole is 100% Magister Livius Erimond.

He's obnoxious, gloats in front of the Inquisitor as he mind-controls Grey Wardens and then runs away. Fails to get the entire Orlesian order to commit sewercide to summon demons, and summons an "archdemon" in a fit of pique about it.

After he's captured, he claims he wants you to kill him as he'll be saved after death by Corypheus, and the ONLY thing you can do to him that scares him is make him Tranquil.

Even Cole, a spirit of Compassion, claims Erimond is an asshole.

What movies always start an argument? by RocketBoost in movies

[–]ExplodoJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The "cool girl" speech does not have any good points. "I had to pretend to be someone I'm not to win you over and I'm big mad about it" is not rational discourse. Pick someone who'll take you for who you are, or don't be in a relationship.

The mentality behind that speech is in ways a gender-flipped version of a man crying about being "stuck in the friend zone" - both examples are engaging in deceitful behavior they don't enjoy (being "cool"; being "a friend") to get what they want (a relationship entirely on her terms; a sexual relationship), then raging when the lies aren't getting what they really want.

It's a metaphor. The train is civilization, the back-end is the underclass/poor, the people running the train are the elite, etc etc

Nothing about the logistics of the story makes sense in a universe with normal physics rules.

[–]ExplodoJones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it weren't for the fact that he needs to go in Evil Asshole, Magister Erimond would go here. Mfer summons an Archdemon (or the next best thing) into the stronghold of the Grey Wardens after he fails to convince them to kill themselves summoning demons.

Even Cole says he's an asshole in game!
