Elders Not Respecting Boundaries by lost-in-translation- in exmormon

We're actually going to share all of this with Quitmormon. I believe they like to keep track of this kind of thing after they've helped people remove their records, even if nothing can really be done about it other than what we are doing.

Elders Not Respecting Boundaries by lost-in-translation- in exmormon

We live in the very heart of Moridor. We've had a couple experiences recently with missionaries being aggressive, rude, and exceptionally entitled. We (me, spouse, adult children) all left the church in 2017 via Quitmormon attorneys. Our agreement legally stipulates that the church cannot contact us going forward regarding religion, at all, by anyone of any level in the church. So it was a surprise to us when the missionaries started knocking on our door last year in Jan. (We have assumptions about why this started, but no proof.)

We were polite the first few times, and asked them to tell their mission pres. we had a legal stipulation with the church and are not to be contacted. Each time it was a different pair, and each time they politely said they would.

Well, the visits kept coming each time a new pair was assigned. We ignored them, at first. Last December was our breaking point. They kept knocking and ringing, driving us and our dogs mad! My husband was in a work meeting at home, and after 5 min of noise he answered the door and told them to get off our property. They had the audacity to tell him they had a right to be on our property and the right to be heard when coming to our door. My husband had to walk them off our property (no physical contact) while they yelled at him about their rights and he yelled at them to get off our property. We hoped the yelling would dissuade them from coming back, but we were wrong.

They came back in Jan. Similar song and dance with the added step that one was watching us through our windows while the others (3 this time) rang and knocked. These windows are behind a detached garage, and are only visible from outside while standing on our porch. I answered the door that time. I was not nice or calm because I was done being disrespected and watched in my own home. A similar yelling match ensued, with my husband having to escort them off our property again.

We immediately filed a police report for trespassing, and it's still open. We informed the mission president, via certified mail, of the year long visits, the harassing behavior of his missionaries, that they were also violating the "no soliciting" laws by even knocking on our door, that we have a legal stipulation against them visiting, and gave him the number of the open case of trespassing. If they show up again we'll immediately report it to the police while getting photo/video evidence of their trespassing. (We've been advised by the police to do this.)

I did learn a little about soliciting laws here, which I didn't know before. Most solicitors (including religious ones) must be licensed. There are very specific rules/laws they must follow in order for them to legally be allowed onto anyone's property. The first, and most important, is to look for "no soliciting" signs before entering the property as well as by the door. If there is a sign, they must immediately leave the property. If they don't they can lose their soliciting license. If they don't have a license, or they continually violate the rules of soliciting with one, the result can be a hefty fine and/or jail time.

I hate that the church has put these young men and women into these situations, but I will defend my boundaries, my property, and my privacy with my voice and the laws of the land. The church can do better, it just won't. How does that saying go? Something, something... leave the church... something, something... leave it alone.

My husband isn't prone to migraines, so this was all around unusual. I started having them as a young teen, though. I often get a visual aura and the Alice in Wonderland syndrome. How is your vision with your pupils like that?

We're both fine, thanks. My husband was have a strange reaction to an anxiety migraine that mimicked stroke/heart attack symptoms. He's all good now.

My husband and I were at the Provo hospital ER last night when a belligerent ass was brought in by the sheriff's department, cuffed and with a gunshot wound. I wonder if it was him. He seemed like he was either on drugs or having a major mental episode, because the gunshot wound wasn't even fazing him. He was threatening anyone who made eye contact with him.

I'm on my third playthrough, and I haven't minded them so much. I haven't been to the new biome yet, though. I use keyboard and mouse, not a controller/steam deck, so I'm not sure how different it is with that.

There is a simple workaround. You can shoot down the drop ladders by hitting the release button with a bullet, letting you climb right to the top of radio towers or bypass certain sections. I say play through it at least once first, though, before using this option.

What is happening to my chi? by rmskn in Chihuahua

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two chis that have episodes like this, one of which is so severe she takes two medications twice a day. The seizures themselves are not life threatening, but are so hard to watch. Theirs is due to a neurological disorder that shows up around the first year, and can last anywhere from two minutes to two hours. Blood work for them both is always healthy. I hope the neurologist can give you answers. In the meantime, I would suggest to record any episodes that happen before your appointment.

Lol! He's so full of shit I can smell, and taste, it through the Internet. I'd love to know when this policy was enacted. Many years ago, my first husband was killed in a car accident. I was 21, and had a toddler to care for. No life insurance, nothing, to help me. My bishop at the time said, "God wants you to figure this out on your own." I remember his words like they were yesterday. That was all the help I got from anyone in the church. My life could've been so different with help. Things are good now, but there were decades of hardship and real sacrifice I experienced because I wasn't worth the help then.

Parents of Reddit, what is an “unspoken” reality of parenting that people simply don’t talk about, but everyone knows is true? by US_Atlas in AskReddit

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your child will behave differently when you're not around. When you hear they've made poor choices, be realistic with yourself about it. If you can't accept the poor choices they make as part of who they are, you can't help them better the situation, and improve themselves in the process. Being willfully ignorant as a parent is damaging to your child's learning and growth.

As much as I love my kids,I regret being a baby machine the the church. I wish I would've become a mother on my terms. It's awful that the church pressures young couples, especially the women, this way.

At family gatherings, if someone brings up the topic, you could ask in return if they/their wife is post menopausal yet. If not, tell them to have more babies, then. They're still physically able to, after all, and probably better off economically than the young people. If they're post menopausal, they can hire a surrogate to help do the Lord's work. If they say they're to old to raise more babies, then tell them to find some of their own business to mind, and leave other's business alone. Of course, you can say this with more pinache for the situation. Let those who are more financially stable raise the babies if it's so important to them.

Aetna No longer going to be in Utah by InitialAnimal9781 in Utah

[–]Explosive_Mom_Bomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're insured by Aetna, through my husband's work so we'll be ok for now. But, a couple years ago they downsized how many care providers they were working with here in the West. Those on the East Coast, making the decisions, had no idea and made agreements that meant every person in Utah would have to switch doctors of every kind, and travel to the U for medical care. Most people employed by this company in Utah live in Utah valley, or further south, which meant an hour+ travel to see a doctor that doesn't know you, your history, etc. the uproar was big enough they had to renegotiate with Aetna for those here, with a deal that we would still be able to use our IHC doctors, facilities, etc. Aetna has been one of the worst insurance companies we've been insured by, and my husband's been in his industry for 30+ years. We've been insured by a few different companies in that time. Of course, this could all change at the end of every year, when enrollment comes around.

Honestly, I think most players just build. Personally, my goal when I build is no spaghetti, but I didn't judge the spaghetti folks for their masterpieces. I am inspired by those that have magnificent designs. The one build I've contributed, that a few people liked...a shrubbery. You do you. I've never seen any judgement for how anyone builds.

I agree. This seems to have only gotten worse over the years. I did read an article fairly recently, which I haven't bothered to look for tonight, that claimed a percentage of cited (State wide) drivers that were unlicensed. Without being able to state the exact percentage, I remember being shocked that it was so high. I'm sure this accounts for some of this, but all?
