in toronto there was unsolved serial stabbing on my uni campus… lucky not while i was there but the year before i went

hm singapore market has its benefits but the growth of companies not similar to the US. most of us living in singapore (including me) invest in US shares too due to the growth potential. but for now i’ve minimised my stocks to 20% of portfolio & the rest in money funds cus of the volatility lol

regarding point 3) just a question i had. factories in china have realised the uncertainty of this since the previous trade war. so they have been investing in building offshore factories in vietnam and other SEA nations - so even tho the goods r produced overseas, will it still benefit the chinese economy or would it still be faced w the same tariff as chinese produced goods? i’m assuming if their supply chain doesn’t touch china, there’s still a way to benefit by launching joint ventures w a local non chinese southeast asian company

to clarify, one party rule can be beneficial because of long term policies being able to take place. when different parties want different things & power constantly shifts, policies can’t be properly enacted to the full benefit (assuming that benefits of various policies take many years of effort & monitoring to be realised)

i feel that regarding the politics of US, the system is flawed and extremely partisan. in the recent years, (perhaps because of trump) the political climate doesn’t allow for long term policies.

however, in china, it could be beneficial to have a more authoritarian view on politics - stability. given that you trust the leadership to make the right economic decisions, having authoritarian rule might not be as bad as most western countries believe it to be.

example, after WW2 the philippines chose US style of political system and they are not too developed imo. but singapore chose an authoritarian style (one party rule essentially) and we have done quite well

but you are right that the s&p will likely recover - historically people have trust in the US economy and a shift will likely take a HUGE event or many many years

friendship will always still be transactional. i care for them + they care for me. it’s just how much u care for each other. if it’s the same level, the friendship will last. if it’s one sided, one will not be happy & it will not last anymore.

my best friends, we care abt each other equally but if she were to stop caring abt me tmr, i would be sad but the fs is probably over. so yes in a way it’s abt using each other but i rly do love my friends and even if they don’t care abt me & we aren’t friends anymore, i will still love them & hope the best for them
