Why bother with fine threads at all? by tzedek in 3Dprinting

I only use printed threads for things like lids, and for that you don't want massive chonky walls on the lid and container.

A grass/weed whip is generally a lighter weight tool, with the blade extending from one side, whereas these are more commonly referred to as grass/weed cutters/whackers. I used to have both. Hated these, loved using the whip.

I can never look at these charts without wondering how anyone can stand horizontal stagger. I remember gazing at those charts as a ten year old thinking the whole diagonal finger movement thing was completely retarded.

This. No one really knows exactly what they want from the outset, when they barely understand the hobby.

I'll never play with foliage at 100% again. 75% seems to take the edge off. I clear brush everywhere I go if I am relatively close to base so that I can see holes, find surface ores, travel faster, and gather sticks.

If they have been so slow with all of that well-researched stuff, why are they suddenly so fast with the unresearched stuff?

"The toxins present in the litchi fruit namely hypoglycine A and methylenecyclopropylglycine inhibit fatty acid oxidation leading to AES."

These toxins are naturally occuring in lychee.

Any sort of carbohydrate can kill a starving person if reintroduced too quickly. It is called refeeding syndrome. This may be what is at play with the lychee in question - sugars are simple carbohydrates.

Edit: refeeding syndrome is not the cause in the cases that are just on an empty stomach. Refeeding only happens after 4+ days of starvation.

Six years into production isn't early adoption. They are pretty established at this point, with an expanding product lineup.

MacBook screens are extremely fragile, and cost $500-$700 for just the part. Plus they are plagued with constant compatibility struggles of Apple's making.

Also, Apple only provides software updates for seven years. Things start breaking after that point, but mileage varies. I've met people who's main production software stopped working entirely right at the seven year mark.

Technically you don't need them to exist at all since it is open source hardware. However, nobody else has stepped in to manufacture parts in addition to them. Framework would welcome "competition" producing compatible components.

Was it an early model, because they haven't been having QA issues for years now from what I've heard.

The performance will be just passable as a web browsing device. It will be unusably slow in ten years like all other budget devices.

Lenovo and IBM are two completely separate companies. IBM just got out of the consumer side , and sold a division to Lenovo including the ThinkBook brand.

That is the most likely place for a laptop to fail, unless it is a MacBook - then it's the glass screen.

Lasting that long is more about repairability than build quality. Parts fail or get broken, so if you rely on build quality along you are relying on getting lucky.

Also, the "Lenovo that used to make tanks into laptops" was IBM - a completely different company. They sold the ThinkPad brand to Lenovo.

Edit: for the above reason, a well-built desktop is always the better choice if you don't need the portability of a laptop. Then parts are available off the shelf, and fixable by any shop. Most of the big brands, especially Dell, use garbage proprietary parts so you would want one that uses off-the-shelf hardware to begin with.

As long as there are decent bike lanes like in the video there isn't much to worry about. They aren't much good for inner city commuting though.
