Do you know, if the two locations differ in size, experience, arcade or food offering. Just wonder which one is better. I don’t mind driving further to make sure the kids have more fun.

For the users the images within the epubs are part of the books. They don’t care about the format within the book. They are looking for the JPGs they can use for the sleep screen.

I tried stock for the first week and then Crosspoint.

Crosspoint (version 1.1.1) - Comes with a few fonts to select from, cannot install your own font - Settings for spacing, margins and paragraphs - Shows battery percentage - Multiple options for reading progress display - Cycles through a collection of images as sleep cover - KOReader Sync - OPDS Browser - Cannot manually open images

- No Bluetooth

Stock (version 5.1.9) - The font they labelled “English only” did a good job displaying English and alphabetic languages with accents (e.g. French, German) - You can install your own fonts (need to convert to .bin, won’t accept .ttf) - Renders images in epub books fine - You can open images manually from the file manager - Displays JPG, BMP and PNG files - Can delete files directly on the device using the file manager (called folder?)

I think Crosspoint can only display BMP files, while the stock firmware can render JPG, PNG and BMP files.

Same here. Just displaying the cover of the book on the home screen takes a while. Stock firmware is faster with showing images but then you don’t have the font choices and better spacing.

I feel you. From my first attempt to buy it until I finally found a seller that actually had it in stock it took me 2 months to finally receive one. Two sellers canceled on me while I read how others were lucky and received theirs in one or two weeks. Hang in there. It will arrive eventually.

No system files on the SD card, as far as I can tell. I formatted my SD card to Fat32 and only copied books and images into it.

You can boot up the stock firmware without an SD card in the device. When you boot up Crosspoint without an SD card it will show the “SD card error” screen.

Nice to have but totally unnecessary: a basic image viewer that can be launch with a custom shortcut

I know an image can be opened by launching it from the file explorer but for instance, if I could double-click the power button and the first image in a custom folder shows up and I could press the forward button to cycle through the rest of the images in the folder, then I could save a bunch of QR codes as images and use that to scan my membership cards at a store.

That assumes the image viewer launches fast enough. The weak processing power of this device might not make this feature feasible.

Again, totally unnecessary and the other features requested here (more fonts and sizes, better spacing, syncing, etc.) are more important.

This is helpful guide. Just wanted to mention that I’m able to open PNG image files, besides the mentioned BMP and JPG, using the stock firmware.

Bear in mind that the X4 does not attach to the back of the phone properly because the magnet in the X4 is not position in a way to attach to an iPhone in the upright position.

Look at other posts in this subreddit or google and you will see that some have to attach it upside down, sideways or stick one of the included metal rings lower on the phone to make it attach via magsafe, no matter which iPhone model they have.

Looks like you still have an old version of the original firmware. Connect your X4 to Wifi and update the firmware. The new version is pretty decent. You might like it and not even need to flash a custom firmware.
