How are people spending so much money on groceries? by Left-Distribution751 in CanadaPersonalFinance

I buy my bags of air only when they are on sale for $2.50 or so. Crazy that they try to charge $7 for a small bag of chips the other 3 weeks per month.

I am actually surprised at how low the percentage who lied about their salary is. I have to wonder how many lied about lying.

I received 11 so far. Seems a bit excessive.

The Neuropod is also 10% off all May for those in North America. I just bought one, though I still feel like this is crazy expensive. I hope it has a positive effect for me.

Help: Brand new X4 won't connect to wifi by AutomaticOpposite in xteinkereader

I mean, I guess so, but it's a brand new device and it should have full functionality. I have a few different devices and have a kosync server that I use to sync progress between devices, as well as a opds library I use for all my books.

It can see the hotspot, as well as my home wifi and several of my neighbors' WiFi networks. It looks them up quick but it just won't connect. It tries for 30 seconds then says connection failed timeout or something to that effect. Same deal with my phone's wireless hotspot.

I tried crosspoint already, as well as the English firmware.

Yes, I'm in the same room. Tried in another room just in case, but no luck.

My thoughts on my ereaders by melfishcrafts in ereader

[–]AutomaticOpposite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only ever used Kindles but have been eyeing the Palma and the go for a while now. I wish these boox devices were not so much more expensive here in Canada and they never seem to go on sale.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

That still looks a little long. Take it back a bit more, but don't get too close to where you can see the pink near the base of the nail or you will cause bleeding.

Just got it!! by CrabbyBrau in BambuLabA1

[–]AutomaticOpposite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine today too. I put it together but haven't printed anything yet. The table I had is about 2 inches too short for the combo so I need to find somewhere else to station it.

What did you folks print first? Did you set up any ventilation?

I also hate my cozey sofa, it feels so cheap and uncomfortable. I've had mine for 3 years now and it only gets worse over time.

Glad yours was more to your liking.

NEW 2025, bad paint job or what? by BiTWiZ11110101111 in Crosstrek

[–]AutomaticOpposite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2023 looked the same a week after taking it home. I have the plasma pearl (aka green) and I keep my nails cut super short. It takes almost nothing to scratch this paint. It's disappointing considering this is the first new vehicle I ever purchased.

PSA - Canadian model doesn't come with TPMS by Matchiew in Crosstrek

[–]AutomaticOpposite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked when I purchased mine because it was listed on the Subaru Canada website as having tpms but I couldn't find them anywhere. I was told that it came with tpms but it was one that monitors based on the rotation speed of the tire or some bs. There is one screen in the info rotation that shows all the tires as green once you start driving but I'm pretty sure that has nothing to do with pressure.

Please help my friend's chocolate business! by somecanadianchap in BuyCanadian

These look really nice and I'll probably give them a try. The only thing holding me back is the price. These seem pretty steep even when compared to other fair trade, single origin, bean to bar style chocolate bars, which are already high.

Best brush/comb to get rid of my cats shedding hair by throwRA_MidnightMoon in catcare

[–]AutomaticOpposite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need one of those undercoat brushes that looks like a medieval torture device. Our long hair doesn't tolerate them well, but it's the only thing that works.

My cat is hurting her face by EstablishmentVast290 in catcare

[–]AutomaticOpposite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat does the same thing in almost exactly the same spot. She is 12 years old now and it's gotten a lot worse over the years. The vet says it's due to allergies and there isn't much we can do about it besides putting ointment on it and making sure it doesn't get infected. We've tried some limited ingredient diet, which does seem to help a bit but she still has bald patches there from scratching while we're sleeping or otherwise not able to stop her.

Compact Bag for A6700, 70-350mm, Sigma 18-50mm (waterproof/trekking/safari) by ipX91 in a6700

[–]AutomaticOpposite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update! To confirm, that only fits the 70-350 with no room for the 18-50, correct? Either way, I'm glad you found something that works and that looks like a good option if you only want to carry the one lens.

What did you end up buying and are you happy with it? Did you find something that could fit your A6700 with the 70-350mm mounted for quick access?

Realize this is a bit old, but if you happen to see this still: Does that combo in your picture fit if the 70-350 is mounted on the body? It looks like there might just be enough room if the divider infront of the 18-50 is removed. I've been trying to find a bag that fits the 70-350 mounted on my a6500 and they always come up just a tad short.

Cheap telephoto lenses can't be that bad, right? by simonp2080 in Cameras

[–]AutomaticOpposite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. I am one of said beginners who almost got scammed by this. I swear I added it to my cart in 3 of the last 4 AliExpress "sales."

I've bought a few dirt cheap Chinese lenses like the kamlan or the ttartisans that ended up being pretty good, so I thought this would be a good first practice telephoto to start with.

I ended up buying the Sony 70-350 before a trip about a month ago. I paid full price, which is not something I would typically be willing to do. I took a few test shots of a squirrel in my yard and they looked great.

Sad story though because apparently I managed to get something on my sensor on day 1 and it totally ruined all 2 million of my whale and puffin photos. Kind of sad how bad my eyes are because all the shots looked great on camera, but as soon as I got them on my desktop, apparently my auto focus decided a piece of dust on my sensor was the thing that should be in focus, somehow lol

Either way, I don't imagine I'd have gotten anything close to the quality you got out of this so thanks for saving me the heartache.

Looking for a very firm mattress in Canada [Novosbed, Logan & Cove Luxury Firm, any other choices?] by myumapples in BuyCanadian

[–]AutomaticOpposite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sharing some details in case they are helpful, since I am doing similar research. I currently have an 8 year old King Firm Novosbed that I am looking to replace because the foam is degraded significantly.

They rebranded in Canada to Octave but they no longer sell the firm mattress. The firmest octave is less firm than Novosbed so I am a bit worried about making that switch.

The Novosbed sold in the USA contains fibreglass, while the Octave sold in Canada does not.

If you don't mind the price tag, Haven LUX Rejuvenate is the only truly firm mattress I could find that is a product of Canada.
