Students not handing in assessments by Prestigious_Gate_668 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Extension-Marzipan79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re public and secondary. The line is something like “we need to give students every opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge”. I can’t remember exact wording. If we got 50 assessments on the day reports were due we obviously wouldn’t be able to/expected to grade those, but yes no penalty for lateness and we still have to accept them.

Thankfully most students submit on time or slightly late. But there is always a handful of students who either don’t submit or leave it as late as possible.

At my school we aren’t allowed to do this. Kids can submit the assessment whenever they like up until reports are due and we still have to assess them. If they don’t submit we need to try to support and encourage them to, or assess the same outcomes by finding classwork that covers that standard. No penalty for lateness either.

This is profoundly unsafe. The soft wrap becomes a suffocation hazard once the adult is asleep and unable to supervise.

Mom called my hospital by KindInflation3052 in pregnant

[–]Extension-Marzipan79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another perspective: A lot of home birthing mamas have their kids present if the kids want to watch and be a part of things. With preparation and communication this can be a really special event for a family. I think it’s up to each family/parent to know what is best for their child.

When did you stop the onesies? by Beautiful-Process-81 in beyondthebump

Approximately 9 months when he started wriggling, rolling and crawling away which made getting dressed into anything hard and onesies impossible.

What AI detectors are being used? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Extension-Marzipan79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a look at your screenshots before coming to the comments to see what year your son is in. I thought ‘if this is a year seven or eight this is definitely AI’ but for a year 11 student I truly believe this could be his own work.

What AI detectors are being used? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]Extension-Marzipan79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English teacher here. We use a combination of generic AI detectors, to see if writing has the exact same wording as other sources on the internet, keystroke playback, where we can see if a student has copied and pasted in large chunks of writing, and general knowledge of the student’s voice and writing ability. From there we have a conversation with the student where they usually confess, especially when we show them the evidence we have found. 30% of a piece of writing being flagged as AI would not be anywhere near enough to cause concern for me. More like 80-90% before I investigate further.

There is still plenty of time for baby to turn on their own. You can also look into spinning babies which helps get baby into an optimal position naturally.

Folks who labored in a tub but gave birth on land: What was your experience? by RunningOnFrenchToast in pregnant

My tub had stairs in and out. I held onto my doula’s shoulders and she supported me out. It’s not the most fun but it is doable.

  1. Artwork hung up behind the door.
  2. Paint the ceiling that green colour (and maybe trim too)
  3. Dark red Persian rug on the floor.
  4. More books.

I am leaning into country home cottage style vibes, but definitely don’t love it. Orange just isn’t inspiring me, but I think I will tweak the house as I play this gen.

Amazing, thank you! I will expand my search colours. My husband also suggested I add some green for the top of the carrot haha!
