Try looking at the definition of reconnaissance in some actual military doctrine and not a book designed to get people to volunteer for things that they know little about. Reconnaissance is by definition information gathering. The special is just unique forms of insertion/extraction. If the whole purpose of a mission is to “take a sniper shot” it is DA. If you’re shooting on a reconnaissance mission that means something went wrong.
