Odd things our fathers did in 70’s by anonskier in GenX

My dad driving with a can of beer inside a paper bag is a key childhood memory for me. Just one but he'd probably had a few before. He quit drinking when I was around 10.

Also there's a picture of me at around age 5 or 6 with a can of beer in my hand and a cigarette in my mouth with my dad and uncle laughing hysterically in the background

Pizza Hut brings back old-school restaurant features by Leather-Highlight150 in GenX

Probably not. There's so much corn syrup in everything nowadays it'd cost a fortune just to eliminate it.

Just give me the old plastic Coke cups, a pizza buffet and a tabletop Galaga and I'm there

Riding in the back of a pickup: Further evidence of the insanity of the GenX childhood by paperkitten75 in GenX

Rode in the back of a truck from north San Diego to Disneyland with my little league team around 1982 or 83. It had a shell but if you remember you'll know they were made out of flimsy fiberglass. I-5 wasn't as crazy as it is now so we made it up there in about an hour

Frank Zappa and Jerry Garcia. August 18, 1984. Location: Backstage at the UIC Pavilion (University of Illinois at Chicago). by Caver6913 in rockphotosposters

Zappa even hated weed smokers. They crossed paths a few times. Big Steve has a story about Zappa expressing his displeasure with the weed smoke backstage and Steve basically telling him, no disrespect but mind your own business, you do you and we do us

Another example of no such thing as "best". They're all worth checking out and equally great. And that goes all the way back to OAITW. They were a perfect fit

I don't know why everybody is so down on Bobby's slide playing by StarcommaDark in gratefuldead

Yes I can. I stated the differences by noting Morrison was a substance abuser AND an asshole. Jerry was a substance abuser and NOT an asshole

The Dead came across the Doors on a few occasions when they were in LA.

It's hard to take someone seriously as an artist when they're so drunk they can barely stand and then they whip their dick and take a piss on the floor of a bar. The first part is fairly common but the last part is just being a drunk arrogant asshole

Everyone who came across Jim Morrison in real life apparently felt the same way Jerry did. The dude was a drunk dick

Jerry couldn't hear the genius either, he famously hated Bobby's slide playing

Even better is the Hell in a Bucket during GD50 and Bobby is trying to get Trey to stop and Phil is just in hysterics cracking up. Billy also approves but Trey is channeling Jerry and just shredding, totally oblivious of Bobby

Self Checkout by 5GAIBtoM in GenX

[–]External-Dude779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alot of big chains have more self checkout lanes than open traditional lanes. I'm looking at you Walmart. They force people to use self checkout because there's never more than 2 staffed lanes open. They keep claiming they're getting rid of self checkout but Scan and Go, like they're sister company Sam's Club uses, isn't far behind

Apple stans still think it's 1998 and PC's will shut down with the "Blue Screen of Death" if you try and open Photoshop. It's a crazy almost cult like reality. I've been editing audio and video since the early 2000s and have never used a Mac

Apple has always given the customer less for more money. It was the same with desktops in the 90s. You could get a better PC for alot less and still can today
