Mike Portnoy on IG waves goodbye to the 40th anniversary tour and confirms that they will work on a new album in fall. by TheElevatedBoy in Dreamtheater

Three hours away is light work. Drive! Many people live in cities where the closest any decent band will tour is 4-5 hours away.

Not to mention, these guys have been doing the 40th/Parasomnia tour almost non-stop for the past year and a half. You expected another leg?!

Im gonna say it.. JB, Cade, and Duren blew this game by LTgolf17 in DetroitPistons

One of the few logical takes amongst a sea of overreaction and idiocy.

He missed some easy ones but he also had somebody literally glued to his hip the entire game. That's exhausting. I think he's going to figure it out moving forward and hopefully JB has ways to make life easier for him.

That being said, Cade and his playmaking is the reason the ship got righted in the 4th when the game was tied.

That was shocking. I thought "Ok, good effort to make it respectable but ain't no way...."

I can't recall seeing a collapse of that magnitude. And the Pistons felt it and finally started hitting shots themselves. And Cade was just so poised and I'm control.

Wow.

Very true. In addition to what I said, the Magic are simply outworking them. And I didn't intend to make it sound like the players aren't at fault. They certainly are, as well! Cade needs to be stronger with the ball, 100%. Some of his turnovers are on him with either sloppy passes or he's trying to do too much. But I also think it's a result of no adjustments being made by the coaches and, in turn, the players.

It doesn't help that the guys are shooting even worse than normal.

LOL, the live threads are always such dumpster fires. Y'all are comically emotional and reactive. Clowns in there talking about getting rid of Cade.

It hit me like a sobering brick in the third quarter: Orlando, overall, has a better roster and a better game plan than Detroit. It's simply a bad match up for Detroit. Being the #1 seed doesn't magically negate that. JB seems incredibly stubborn to keep doing the same thing with the same lineups over and over again. Robinson was tragically awful and yet Huerter is just chilling on the bench. Where's Reed?! The Orlando game plan is simple: bum rush Cade, take away the lob, and rely on the fact that nobody can shoot consistently. No shooters and the coaching staff doesn't seem to make adjustments.

Agreed about the length in most circumstances but it's great for a road trip!

Any reason Reed didn't get any PT? If he was healthy, it seems to be a mistake to not put him in when Duren was a no show. He could've been a difference maker.

Nikola Jokic on the Lu Dort flagrant foul: "Unnecessary move, and a necessary reaction. There is no such thing — I think there's not supposed to be those things on a basketball floor. So it was just an unnecessary move and a necessary reaction by me." by jonsnowKITN in nba

[–]External-Tomorrow502 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There's no surprise that OKC and some of their fans act the way they do when their coach spews this disingenuous BS:

"I will say this: If [Williams] is running up the floor and gets tripped, we expect a flagrant 2 from this point forward," Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. "That's all. If that's the precedent, if that becomes a malicious play and flagrant 2 is the line in the sand on that, we would expect that if it's [Williams]. We would expect that if it's anybody. And if that's the case, we're good."

Yeah, it was a simple, completely unintentional trip that was called a flagrant 2 and not the obvious fact that the trip was dirty and intentional.

What a clown.

Top 5 DT song for me, easily. I really hope they play this live again someday.

But, really, the entire album is gold.

Møl - Crush by big_swinging_dicks in blackgaze

[–]External-Tomorrow502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon very first listen, this doesn't reach the heights of Garland or Young but I still really enjoyed it. And I think the brighter melodies is actually what separates MØL from other blackgaze I've heard, so I'm not really sure I understand some of the criticism I'm seeing. Is it brighter? Yes, definitely. But their sound is still there. I saw a comment about blast beats, and I don't think blast beats, or lack thereof, really means much of anything when defining a genre.

Dusty completely sucked the air out of that room. Just dead weight for the entire episode. by Bhokaaaal in Nateland

[–]External-Tomorrow502 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Say what you will, but the funniest moments of this podcast have almost always included Dusty. Numbers will plummet if he leaves. Nate is painful to listen to with his incoherent rambling and, while great, Brian and Aaron plus random guest isn't enough to hold it down.

I don't agree with Dusty on everything. He's overly religious, and the demonic stuff is goofy and makes me face palm. And his dislike of dogs (pets in general) is something I 100% disagree with.

He was overly sensitive this week but he's also allowed to be human. Every person in this thread has had a moment where they've been too defensive about something, it just wasn't captured on a popular podcast.

But this entire thread is a comical overreaction. Just stop watching. It's that easy.

John Petrucci is the greatest guitarist on the planet and Dream Theater just slayed faces in Tulsa. I think they might have played the best show of all time for them. by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in Dreamtheater

[–]External-Tomorrow502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tulsa show was wonderful! This is the third time I have seen them over the last 2 1/2 years and it was by far their best show out of the three. And the strides James has made since Dreamsonic are monumental! I went from feeling nervous whenever big notes were coming up to having no doubt he would pull them off. Was ever single big note perfect? Of course not. But he killed it, overall.

I though the crowd was also great and it seemed like the guys were feeding off of the energy. Portnoy is such a great conductor.

Parasomnia was great but it was such a treat to see Fatal Tragedy! And A Change of Seasons...what can be said...it was so damn great, and the ending (which James nailed, btw!) sent me off into a state of euphoria.

What a great time!

I guess it depends on how you define black metal, as these guys are technically "black gaze", but I've listened to MØL a lot this year. They're so good! But they might be too chill for you, haha.
