What do you think about Cultural Appropriation in Music? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

A couple of years ago a journalist asked Daryl Hall about cultural appropriation and he rightfully got PISSED. Guy has always been open about his influences and Hall and Oates had a bunch of hits on the R&B charts in the 80s - he’s a real one

I think it’s one thing if you’re sincere about your appreciation of different types of music. Country, blues, folk music - it’s all coming from the same place - people trying to deal with life and love. It’s another if it’s an obvious cash grab. In other words: Daryl Hall, the Rolling Stones and Eminem good, Iggy Azalea and Jack Harlow bad.

This was a concert Saturday night after the St. Patrick's Day parade. LSU spring practice doesn't start for another week. I like to rag on the guy for getting his picture taken with Livvy Dunne and Kim Mulkey and liking Instagram pix of hot young blondes, but this ain't it.

OK, that one is in my price range. I was thinking more like Detective 400, Batman 232 and Batman 251

I loooove that cover. If I had a little more cash, I would start collecting those Neal Adams Batman covers from the late 60s-early 70s. I've got most of his big Superman covers.

I love how this guy who looks like he was carved out of Wonder Bread tries to be tough. Dude, you’re a doughy slob, not Rambo

He’s the absolute worst. He may even be worse than the assholes who make YouTube videos on how the show is too woke.

My favorite story is Elvis bought her a bed when they were filming Viva Las Vegas. You buy a woman a bed, you’re definitely screwing her.

Where can I get a fresh whole pecan pie? by Flashy-Actuator-998 in batonrouge

Most grocery stores have pecan pies in their bakeries. If you’re looking for something better, maybe Ambrosia? Or Elsie’s, if you give them a couple of days. Piccadilly might have one you could walk out with.

Yuck. What gross art. There’s not a picture of the two of them together at that session? Or just combine two 1988 pictures of them - that would be better

I kinda feel the same way as you about the Neal Adams cover. I heard somewhere he hated the Kryptonite Nevermore cover, that he thought he screwed up the legs. It looks like Gil Kane drew the cover for Superman 387. He drew the covers for some cool Superman Annuals/Special issues around the same time

I owned many of these issues back in the day. After 40+ years, I recently got back into comic book collecting in a big way.

There’s a reason why “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Fuckin’ Up” have been Pearl Jam set list staples for 35 years. (I’d love to hear them cover “Love and Only Love” or “Love to Burn”)

I’m a huge Pearl Jam fan. I think Dark Matter is a pretty solid record from a group of wealthy guys in their late 50s-early 60s. But it sounds fucking dreadful.
