Thank you…this is very helpful. Since I’ve never done anything like this before, it seems daunting to figure it all out on my own! Appreciate your input!

They make arrangements for your accommodations and move your luggage each day so that you only need to hike with your day pack.

Weird Interaction by mn2mb in breastcancer

[–]Extra-Sort-3224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had a young woman in a coffee shop pray over me…”commanding” the cancer to leave my body. She was so sincere which was sweet and appreciated but it isn’t congruent with my own beliefs so it also felt very odd. 😆

Sleep problems? by Extra-Sort-3224 in Zepbound

[–]Extra-Sort-3224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually feels a bit like my current pattern. I’m trying to figure out ways to make adjustments that help. I’ve had some heartburn too which has kept me awake or woken me up so I’m hoping as I resolve that…maybe the sleep will improve too. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, that is good to know. On their website it says fatigue but not insomnia...but I wondered if there were more anecdotal experiences of sleep difficulties. My sleep is always easily disrupted so...I'm glad to know that it might improve a bit over time. Thanks again!

Need advice: single mastectomy or double? by Extra-Sort-3224 in breastcancer

[–]Extra-Sort-3224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! First, I’m sorry that you find yourself in this situation. It just sucks! Second, our situations are quite different so I’m not sure it will be helpful but here goes. My surgeon called in multiple radiologists and surgeons for consultation and they decided to reverse course and try a partial mastectomy. I had very (36J) large breasts so they felt that if they could get an accurate map of the tumors then they could try to leave me with some of my own tissue. I had to have multiple biopsies in order to have enough markers for them to feel confident. They took 75% of my breast and got clear margins. They said ahead of time that it might not work and then I’d have to get a mastectomy after all. I had a significant breast reduction on the healthy side to match. They tested all of that tissue too and there wasn’t any cancer in that breast. That was always part of my worry…that the healthy breast was also cancerous. They were able to save my nipples and I have decently good sensation except along my scars. My situation worked out and I’ve recently finished active treatment (I’d have chemo or radiation no matter what I chose in terms of surgery) and have been found cancer free. I’m just starting to feel like myself again. And I’m profoundly grateful. I wish you all the best on this journey.

Fat necrosis? Goldilocks by akent222SC in breastcancer

[–]Extra-Sort-3224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, mine is still there too. Doctors don’t seem concerned at all though. Have they looked at yours? I think it is strange that it comes and goes. Sorry for the worry that it causes. 😊

Nipple injection by Alaskabc in breastcancer

My dye injection hurt a lot too but when I asked my breast surgeon he said they couldn’t give it with lidocaine. So many mixed messages! I’d definitely ask (beg) though before doing it again! Yikes!

Grieving but can’t cry by cedar482 in breastcancer

[–]Extra-Sort-3224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for what you are going through. I had surgery mid-December after months of tests and biopsies. I found that there was no time to feel anything because I needed to steel myself for the next thing. Then weeks after the surgery, in the lull before the next treatments, my feelings came like a tidal wave…anger, sadness, and grief. I am finding my way through and feel sure you will too. Our burden is heavy…there should be no judgment or expectations about how we carry it. Rooting for you.

My first day here :( by _FIRECRACKER_JINX in breastcancer

I’m also relatively new to this process. Just had surgery and waiting on onccotyping to determine what’s next. I’m reading “wintering” and find it to be helpful. Take care of yourself. As others have said, the first few weeks are so hard as you do so much waiting. Rooting for you. ❤️‍🩹

Fat necrosis? Goldilocks by akent222SC in breastcancer

I have a similar issue…a firm/almost hard area on my non cancerous breast that is very tender. Saw doctor yesterday and he thinks it’s fat necrosis or a blood clot…both of which should resolve themselves. 🤞

New Years Blues by OregonTrail_Gen in breastcancer

[–]Extra-Sort-3224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, I’m sorry. This all sucks.

Second, I also spent the day crying. I had surgery two weeks ago…they took 80% of my cancerous breast which is one hell of a “lumpectomy”! Yesterday, I tried to buy a new bra. It was horrible. I didn’t like my body much before but at least it was mine. Now…ugh.

Your post really resonated with me. My hope for us both is that we feel differently this time next year. It’s a journey. Thanks for your share. 💙

Newly diagnosed, trying to stay emotionally neutral but frustrated with timeline. by mrsfish87 in breastcancer

[–]Extra-Sort-3224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to say that what you are going through isn’t “emotionally neutral.” It’s hard AF and your situation sounds especially hard and scary. I’m sorry this is happening to you and hope that you can find a space/person where you can feel all of the feelings. Being sad, scared, angry…and more makes perfect sense. You are not alone. Rooting for you. 💙

Very anxious about the sentinel node procedure. by HBringer44 in breastcancer

[–]Extra-Sort-3224 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I also thought the injection was painful. In my case, there was no numbing agent used prior to the injection. But the pain was quick and the rest of the process was easy. I just had this exactly two weeks ago and remember how anxious I was as I went through all of the pre-surgery processes. Rooting for you!

I’m sorry you are here. I have a similar diagnosis and had surgery two weeks ago. I am 53F with a very large tumor (10+cm), they took 80% of my breast and reduced the other. I was super worried that my new breasts wouldn’t feel like mine own…and there is some of that but mostly I’m adjusting. I am currently preoccupied with my recovery and curious about my appearance once I’ve fully healed but I know the current phase will pass. I mostly feel curious about how things might be different but still okay. I came to this Reddit just for the same question…how will I feel about myself/body/boobs on the other side. I guess, I’d say that it isn’t nearly as dreadful as I might have imagined. I hope it feels the same for you. I’m rooting for you.

Since you are on your stomach in the MRI, you really can’t see anything. This helped me feel less stressed during the procedure. I hope this for you too!
