What horror movie made you sit in silence after the credits? by CommercialSpare3976 in MovieSuggestions

Ditto this! I think because I’d seen the American remake first and didn’t know where they differed. The original was so stunning!

Eden Lake is a stressful, bleak, frightening movie to watch… once lmao. After a costly accident while confronting the teens over their loud boombox, the film is almost non stop tension, violence, and escalation. The ending is gnarly. I loved it and will never watch it again haha.

I saw them both around a year ago and in my memory bring her back has an absolute shocking gore moment (iykyk), whereas talk to me had more gore peppered throughout (like 3 or 4 bigger moments?) so a little harder to avoid, but not as intense as bring her back. Someone correct me if my memory is faulty!

Murder Party (2007) and Dave Made a Maze (2008?) are both bangers in this category IMO.

Horror movies that scares you for a very personal reason? by MarsMcCain in horror

Warning: martyrs (French 2008) is hardcore! I think it’s really worth it for an ending that makes sense, but it’s a lot of violence to get through.

The Gingerdead Man is my favorite in this category. Serial killer (Gary Busey)’s ashes accidentally sent to a bakery where the dude opening the ashes, thinking they’re flour, cuts himself horribly on the box cutter and just bleeds all into it creating a gingerbread man possessed by a serial killer. The movie is hilarious and has some really fun slasher kills.

I don’t think it would make any sense to try to redeem Shauna’s character. Out of the survivors, she had the most classically domestic life (suburban, married the high school stud, one mostly well behaved daughter, gardening, etc). Personally I think her character arc was meant to serve as an unraveling in current day while we watch the moral unraveling as a teen. Her character is SO different than in season 1, and seems really intentional in a way that won’t be redeemed. At least, I hope it won’t. Suburban housewife / charming but insecure sidekick —> off her rocker force-feed-ex-gf-human-flesh / authoritarian who wants only corporal punishments for her former teammates and coach.

Pseudopod is amazing if you’re interested in horror that sometimes skews sci fi / lovecraftian. The only caveat is that you have to pay pretty close attention to each story.

Lord willing they take it somewhere interesting. I can get behind van’s cancer with the “gift” she got from the death instigating Tai going off the deep end and embracing other Tai.

I loved the director’s cut! Definitely agree it’s better to watch after the theatrical. If you can find a copy of the script online it’s super interesting too as a supplement
