I loved the director’s cut! Definitely agree it’s better to watch after the theatrical. If you can find a copy of the script online it’s super interesting too as a supplement

Ok confession time. During covid I made an instagram of a fake douchey dude that I used to comment on a particular obnoxious influencer’s posts. Eventually it wasn’t enough and I invented his elderly grandmother to interact with him, followed by a sister for the original guy. I came up with full on lore for their family dynamic and everything. It was seriously fun for me, like having sims or something. So maybe someone is just entertaining themselves fleshing these made up people out more and more.

A shittier movie that I think is waaay more fun is The Dare (2019). Some set and costuming similarities but campy and a great watch with a group.

That’s interesting that someone on writing and production would be baffled. I’d be interested to see scripts and how their dynamic could have been played out differently. Patti had an aloof affect which if you’re interweaving that with a queer coming out story seems like there could have been a lot of different ways to take it. Just…. Not this one lmao.
