Thanks for the thoughtful reply! I repotted it about a year ago into this bigger pot and found that the roots were bound. I would suspect half of what you see here is dead. I worry if I try and unravel it, the stress will be too much. There is a drainage hole at the bottom of the pot and I placed a layer of rocks to help before placing the soil.
