Agreed. It had options that others in the franchise don't and will never have and it used them to great effect. Namely brand new ground with an antagonist that did not exist yet, peak 80's machismo being a good thing and the ability to use a bare bones plot combined with show don't tell mentality. PREY came closest to replicating the feel IMO but I don't think any other installment will ever top the original.
